Its also the oldest and largest planet in our solar system, it formed about 1 million years after the solar system, earth was about 100 million years after. Its gone the longest with no significant change, it outweighs every other planet combined then doubled. And protects us from comets and asteroids. It really couldn't get any closer to being the protecting father of the other planets. Considering its age, if Venus and Mars ever had life on them, it probably protected them too, just like it protects us today Edit On top of all that. Its so large and massive it doesn't orbit the Sun, rather they orbit each other.

Jupiter is a benevolant sovereign who looks after it's little siblings in a way. I feel safe listening to this.

Yuki Windstar It's preety while you are in an atmosphere's embrace, sure. Reasons to be afraid of it; -Astroids -The airless void -Super Novas -Black holes -Sun Waves -Sun Storms -Aliens -God -Alien Gods. :P
Will Gravis Honestly none of that is scary to me. Like I love the idea of aliens and alien gods sound fantastic to me (and I'm not just talking Hastur.) Super Novas are absolutely amazing! They're destructive and beautiful showing birth _AND_ death. Black Holes are a enigma that eat everything including light. They're fascinating. Astroids are cool too. We got several of them around our atmosphere as we speak. Just chillin' (they're considered our other moons.) Sun waves and solar storms are painful sure but they don't upset me. I don't really got an opinion the void. But I think it's interesting how there _is_ matter there just not the kind we perceive.
Jupiter and I have a strong bond. When I was around 6, like a lot of science loving kids space is awesome, and when I heard about Jupiter, learned about it, I knew it was my favourite planet outside our own. When I first found TH-cam, THIS video was one of my first videos. When I learned about Voyager 1 and found out that electromagnetic waves can be turned into sound, this video made sense and became deeply beautiful. Now I return accidentally and I still feel the same way as then, and my desire to learn returns. Jupiter is a fascinating planet, and nothing can break the way I feel about it.
+Joachim Peiper Impressive amount of upvotes for a nazi. Either the world is a much darker place than I realized or there are just as many naive people as I believed.
Iroquois Pliskin So wait, we should disagree with a Nazi when he says the sounds of Jupiter are beautiful JUST because he is a Nazi? I agree with this Nazi, the sounds of Jupiter ARE beautiful. But does that make me a Nazi? Nobody is giving him upvotes because he is a Nazi, they are doing it because they like the statement he made
Jupiter has my most favourite planet sounds that I have heard out of all of them. It's just so therapeutic and mesmerising and I could listen it to all day. There is so much mystery in the universe that we have still yet to explore and discover and this is the only thing that makes me excited about the future!
I find it beautiful, not because it's soothing, simply because it's an example of how far we've come as human beings and a reason why we should continue exploring the universe.
mingiasi No. No! NO! Stop it! Stop it, please! I beg you! This is sin! This is sin! This is sin! It's a sin, it's a sin, it's a sin!!!! oh wait....DAMN! wrong film...
It's only the radio emissions being generated by the planets own electromagnetic field, basically if you could listen to it on a ham radio at the right frequency, that is what you would hear. Nothing big to be thought about, it also has a little bit to to with the deflection if the solar wind by the same field.
Abhishek Sanyal Probably NASA's licensing fees were to high. I mean, they did send stuff into space to capture that sound. It's probably more expensive than hiring a composer. Or maybe NASA are just pricks that don't want to share
SgtSlavin Ironically, NASA had nothing to do with these recordings. They are mostly human-generated. The artists, "Brain/Mind Research", did, however, release them to the public domain.
Well, kind of. But this isn't sound as we think of it. They still won't be hearing anything with their ears normally. This is just electromagnetic waves, which are (somehow) made into sound we can listen to.
Momchil Momchilov Yeah, it makes me wonder what was actually going through their minds when they put the sound effects into those old movies. I also question what methods they used here to extract that sound from radio waves, and what they used to record the radio waves (ie, if it was highly focused and directional, or covered a wide area, or omnidirectional) as normally all I get out of radio receivers is white noise, so not sure what they used to get something this interesting.
If u listen carefully it sounds like someone is humming a song (containing just 3 notes) in an empty huge hall or church...which is covered by the 90's TV/radio sound
+supasempai i dont believe 100% this is real, because this thing im listening, i can do it with a sine wave and being creative on reverb, and the wind-like sound that starts around 2:00 i could just sample it
This is actually recorded, it's the frequency of the interaction of charged particles and the magnetic field outside of the planet. This vibration can be detected by the instruments put on the Voyager 1, and so NASA decided to translate the data into sound (probably removing infra and ultra tones) and here's the result.
Note that sound doesn't propagate in vacuum as there are no molecules. These are radio wave (EM wave) which can travel in vacuum. You can convert the radio wave into sound wave as in your radio receiver.
Kimba Justin Bieber is one of the most overrated "artists" of all-time, so I agree with you. I'd rather listen to this instead of him or most of the "music" of today.
For some reason I love this more than I should but if you ask me I can describe the sounds in my own way Imagine you are downstairs in your house or when you get a house with 2 floors someone takes a bath yes a bath and you can hear all the water running through the pipes, with the air conditioner on and doing it’s thing in the middle of a hurricane with intense winds, and your tv is static, with some thunder. That’s what Jupiter sounds like to me personally
This is less the sound of Jupiter and more what you would hear if you went over there and flicked on your radio (Or a radio specifically designed to listen to planets, anyway). The actual sound of Jupiter would be a lot less peaceful. More like being in the middle of a hurricane. A really high pitched hurricane because the "Atmosphere" is primarily made up of hydrogen and helium. It would be impossible to record it with current technology, unfortunately. Apart from the fact that the recording would be way too loud, there is no way for a microphone to survive (Bare in mind, you can break professional microphones by blowing into them which is why professional sound engineers get aggro when people do that). The probe that was launched into Jupiter to survey the atmosphere only lasted just over an hour before being destroyed, so I'm not sure how a thin piece of metal tape being exposed to the elements would cope for even a second.
Recording the audio would be the easy part. If you manage to get a probe to survive inside the Jovian atmosphere for a whole HOUR, then all you really have to do to pull off a basic sound recording is bury a digital recorder deep inside the probe with the microphone element potted in a tough resin coupled mechanically to the chassis of the probe. Then you have the data recorded to a reasonably durable medium. Presto, successful recording. Getting it back home in order to listen to it, though... Screw it. Just have the audio transmitted back to another probe in orbit, or try to receive it from Earth. There's no real point anyway, logically. Anyone who's ever done homemade video on a really windy day already knows what it would sound like, lol.
I partialy agree but that dosent mean that Jupiter itself aint capable of proving that sound in space is possible. I mean as Voyager 2 found out when it came pass the Gas Giant itself. It detected sounds that almost resembled this which were like an odd crackling noise. In my view sounds like are most likely buffeting noises between the Magnetic field and the suns Solar Wind.
+Sarah Lawrence not even .... I also have a bad feeling ... it seems something a thousand times worse than hell ... & that noise reminds me of that old horseshoe washer very crazy :o
If you look at Saturn with a telescope it might make you think twice about planets like Jupiter. Also, In 7 billion years the sun is supposed to grow into a red giant consuming us. But in 5 billion, we will have the most sight of the Andromeda Galaxy, as it is on a collision point with the Milky Way, "don't worry we'll be spared though" sadly I'm gonna get to miss that amazing sight though
Knowing how large it is compared to earth and there is probably miles of gas and storms then miles of liquid gas under that and we will probably never know what's down at the center is very chilling.
+Game Striker but just think, the people that are born then will take it for granted. Andromeda will be up in the night sky like a sci fi wallpaper.. Yet it won't be special to them, because it'll be all they've ever known
I was watching Black Mirror Episode Crocodile with my girlfriend, her bro, and his gf when at the 27:50 mark, this starts playing. I said aloud "Hey thats the voyager recording of Jupiter!!!" They looked at me like I was batty. I shit you not, go on netflix and scrub to that time and listen.
These "sounds of Jupiter" are incredibly edited. I've heard the actual sounds (unedited with minor adjustments to prevent fluctuation) and it doesn't sound ANYTHING like this. www-pw.physics.uiowa.edu/voyager/v2pws_jupiter_arrival.html there's your original Jupiter sounds from Voyager 2.
So what? This is not accurate information. Nature is wonderful as it is. We should NOT alter scientific information to make it look "more cool". It goes against the very essence of true science. If it was edited for whatever reason, at least it would've been good if they let you know about it and point to the original unedited source
There is sound in space, sound formed space. The entire universe is vibrating to the smallest particles they keep finding within a atom.everything vibrate ///vibration is sound
voyager spacecraft 1 & 2 are the first man made technologies to exit the solar system. The highest precision spacecraft using the gravity of the planets to achieve their missions. The highest longevity of any spacecraft built to date. Imagine your car lasting / functioning 39 years.
It sounds like an intro/opening scene to a new Alien movie The movie opens to the dark abyss of space with nothing but this eerie sound as the title slowly appears
Me at the begginning of this: Oh this is nice. End: HOLY SHIT I THINK I HAVE BEEN BEYOND INFINITY! I CAN TASTE SOUND, I CAN HEAR COLORS, I CAN FEEL SMELLS, I CAN SMELL TEXTURES, I CAN SEE TASTES
Note that NASA had nothing to do with these recordings beyond making the data publicly available. If any of the original natural plasma wave signals remain in this recording, they are unrecognizable. However, all of the Voyager PWS waveform data are available online. (I'd give you a link, but I'd only be rewarded with a ghost ban.) Of course there are no audible frequency pressure waves in space, what we normally think of as sound. But since the particles in space are mostly charged, they can interact at a distance via electric and magnetic fields and can propagate audible frequency waves without the need to collide. These plasma waves are still far too faint to hear with a human ear in space, but the associated oscillating EM fields are easy to detect with antennas, so this is what we do. The resulting signals can be played back without any modification as sound. Unfortunately, the natural signals are not generally soothing enough to be marketed as meditation music, so artistic interpretations like this video pop up all over youtube. Again, this sounds nothing like the natural signals we recorded with the Voyager plasma wave instruments. Please vote up, plus one, or comment in order to keep this information afloat. Thanks!
Funny cause if you were actually on Jupiter, if you didn't get crushed by the intense gravity, your eardrums would burst from the winds. So what Jupiter probably sounds like is an extremely loud tornado.
Actually Jupiter has a thick gas atmosphere followed by a liquid ocean, and a solid core. You wouldn't catch on fire because there would be no oxygen to fuel the fire

-Sun Waves
-Sun Storms
-Aliens
-God
-Alien Gods.
***** Really? Your version sounds more plausible, but what about spaghettification?
I love the sounds of Jupiter,it’s so relaxing you could play a 10 hour of Jupiter sounds in your sleep.
Sounds really scary
All I wanted was some rain noise but my phone wouldn't load them. Now I have to fall asleep to this beautiful shit.
mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/rainNoiseGenerator.php
looking for that one idiot that says this is fake because there is no sound in space
It's not actully generated straight from the planet these are just the magnetic field readings generated from it. :P
he knew
TreeTheEnderHyena I knew, read again olease
AVERAGE DOG oh lol sorry
yeh cause if there was sound in space it wouldn't sound like this. This is just fucked up
Has a very... calm, yet suspenseful feeling to it. Almost feels like it could be an ambient track in a video game or something.
when mankind can travel to other planets one day, they should always carry a device to do this wave translation live.
I believe it makes sense.
Better than Justin Bieber
And all shitty pop culture currently which is infecting the world!
better then your mum
So many likes in 1 row I've never given. :P
It's literally like the music of the universe. I would buy this if people made music like this.
***** Check out Mister Lies-False Astronomy and an artist called XXYYXX. Pretty spacey stuff
It's beautiful
Zakaria Lanait absolutely frienden
+Joachim Peiper Isn't it just 'freund'?
yes music
You have heard sounds coming from planets? You better stai away from illegal stuff !
I find it beautiful, not because it's soothing, simply because it's an example of how far we've come as human beings and a reason why we should continue exploring the universe.
Anyone else thinking of 2001: A Space Odyssey?
All these worlds are yours except Europa. Attempt no landing there.
Krista Poolsaar I'm sorry, I can not do that Dave...
mingiasi No. No! NO! Stop it! Stop it, please! I beg you! This is sin! This is sin! This is sin! It's a sin, it's a sin, it's a sin!!!! oh wait....DAMN! wrong film...
Jacob Balboa more like "Medusa", from "The Wind from the Sun"
Jacob Balboa That movie is sublime
It's only the radio emissions being generated by the planets own electromagnetic field, basically if you could listen to it on a ham radio at the right frequency, that is what you would hear. Nothing big to be thought about, it also has a little bit to to with the deflection if the solar wind by the same field.
Its a strange thing indeed, there is so much in there its like a cacophany. It draws you in as if the harder you listen the more you will hear
Why didn't James Wan consider this as a fitting soundtrack to 'the Conjuring'?
Abhishek Sanyal Probably NASA's licensing fees were to high. I mean, they did send stuff into space to capture that sound. It's probably more expensive than hiring a composer. Or maybe NASA are just pricks that don't want to share
teddyharvester The first one seems likely tho' I wouldn't totally rule out the second opinion. :D
Actually, NASA releases everything into the public domain so it would have been free.
SgtSlavin Ironically, NASA had nothing to do with these recordings. They are mostly human-generated. The artists, "Brain/Mind Research", did, however, release them to the public domain.
I immediately thought about the movie "The Conjuring" when listening to this and how well it would fit as a soundtrack, I totally agree!
So does this mean that there was actually some truth to all those cheesy space sounds in the old sci-fi movies?
Well, you're stupid.
Well, kind of. But this isn't sound as we think of it. They still won't be hearing anything with their ears normally. This is just electromagnetic waves, which are (somehow) made into sound we can listen to.
Momchil Momchilov
Yeah, it makes me wonder what was actually going through their minds when they put the sound effects into those old movies.
I also question what methods they used here to extract that sound from radio waves, and what they used to record the radio waves (ie, if it was highly focused and directional, or covered a wide area, or omnidirectional) as normally all I get out of radio receivers is white noise, so not sure what they used to get something this interesting.
weylin6 New movies also have sounds in space, hollywood film makers are a bunch of idiots in it just for the money
Somnu Bonel
Come on, we've got to allow for a bit of artistic license.
I can honestly meditate to this :3
You are making this even scarier. I don't know why i am so scared from outer space anyway.
I just learned not be afraid
assassinmakidoo kakakarot-cake!
If u listen carefully it sounds like someone is humming a song (containing just 3 notes) in an empty huge hall or church...which is covered by the 90's TV/radio sound
What truly amazing with this sound for me is, it sounded like a man made music, but knowing it is actually nature's sound, OMG. :o
Amazing
+supasempai Well technically it is man made, it's electromagnetic waves converted into sound.
+supasempai Sorry to break it but its actually filtered, processed a multiple time so that its suitable for listening.
Jupiter protect Earth
Jurprtht
I hope some day the humans protect the earth
Jupiter Is The Real God Of Us
#SavePluto
PLZ DONT DIE JUPITER
Jupiter, you're still stuck in your dark ambient phase! Try something like jazz for once in your life!
:D
haha :D
Kemonokami aaaahh nice one ;)
Idk how to explain but it sounds exactly how I'd expect it to
sounds like early pink floyd... keep expecting to hear a repeating sonar ping followed by pipe organs...
lol totally sounds like that 'acidy' part about 14minutes into "Echoes" - def one of their best tunes... love the buildup afterwards! 👍👍
+john doe yep! thats the one! they've got a few other songs that sound like jupiter too.
Overhead, the Albatross...
The Dark Side of Jupiter
we live a society
20 minute guitar solo
it sounds so relaxing
+SongCollections yeah it's a bit creepy but I find it a bit more relaxing
It is very, I listen to this to go to sleep every night on repeat.
listen to Mercury, it won't please you.
Note that sound doesn't propagate in vacuum as there are no molecules. These are radio wave (EM wave) which can travel in vacuum. You can convert the radio wave into sound wave as in your radio receiver.
So glad you still have this vid and channel. Incredibly powerful sound, despite how strange it must seem at first.
I love the sound of this, somehow I feel incredible peace when I listen to this, so I listen a lot.
Perhaps you came from Jupiter
Quimera Coprofaga
Nope, women come from Venus ;-)
Julia Pence where did men come from :O
Julia Pence Women and men both come from Earth, not Venus. -_-
How can this be :( all hope is lost
What aliens hear from our planet...
Alien:what is that noise?
Party:everybody dance now!
Alien: D:
Let's get out of here!
+Spongebuild253 Gaming channel Nah, they would get rick rolled.
Yeah but not as f***** as we will be if DT gets into office. Myself and many others could find themselves running from president soon.
Lmao!!!
+Dylan Delaney How Simpsons of you
Still better than Justin Bieber.
IXSaizer na arguing with that.
Kimba Justin Bieber is one of the most overrated "artists" of all-time, so I agree with you. I'd rather listen to this instead of him or most of the "music" of today.
Still better than despacito
Still using that ancient joke? Whose sarcophagus did you bust open to find that one?
Lol 😂
Finally, some background music for my existential crisis.
The sounds remind me of 2001: A Space Odyssey. And it's funny because the third act of the film is titled "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite".
Don't forget, stay away from Europa.
+Colleen Ross All These Worlds Are Yours Except Europa. Attempt No Landing There. Use Them Together. Use Them In Peace. (from "2010")
Sorry, Sean. I can't do that. It would jeopardize the mission.
Same dude. I loved that movie.
It reminds me of a deep abandoned subway system. Or some lost space probe
What an amazing sound, so strong and powerful.
This sounds so relaxing
Max WAT?!
Only at a safe distance.
Yep
Agree
Thanks ill keep making the noise
For some reason I love this more than I should but if you ask me I can describe the sounds in my own way
Imagine you are downstairs in your house or when you get a house with 2 floors someone takes a bath yes a bath and you can hear all the water running through the pipes, with the air conditioner on and doing it’s thing in the middle of a hurricane with intense winds, and your tv is static, with some thunder. That’s what Jupiter sounds like to me personally
This sounds like something you'd hear in a dream.
Best background music for a horror movie :D
Nathanael Vetters Hell Yeah!
Also, since the gravity on Jupiter is many times(12x?)that of Earth, you might hear the sounds of your bones fracturing as well as your body go squish!
xtremenortherner No human is going to get that close to Jupiter.
Well the sounds recorded from jupiter where from a probe that was realy far away,so basicly this sounds about right for the distances this is recorded
Yo why is this so relaxing
I find this really relaxing.
*Jupiter the Silent Hill of the "Milky Way"*
despite the eerie nature of these recordings... they are weirdly soothing .
this reminds me how space doesnt look to be full of colorful nebulas to the naked eye, it is but an empty, cold void.
2001 Gigant black Monolith!!!
Now i feel like wanting to die a peaciful death in space.
While i'm boiling.
And after that I would become a small part of Jupiter... Forever... I would die inside of it.
Is England near Jupiter?
+OVAH Lord yee
XD
yes, yes it is
+OVAH Lord Yes. If you look at the entire galaxy, Jupiter is basically right beside England.
You could knock on its door if it had a door.
+OVAH Lord Europa Nice one.
The fact that this planet is mostly of Clouds and winds, Makes it scarier...
Am I the only one that's terrified of Jupiter for no reason?
i am scared to. .of universe in general. .It attracts me but scares me !Think that jupiter helps our earth to stay safe from meteorids
I find this beautiful and chilling, it reminds me how big, beautiful and mysterious the universe is.
Sounds like some of the strange sound in the atmosphere we have here on earth..
it sounds like power, jupiter is hella GOOD about doing _atmospheric_ music
DEAD SPACE
Ikr!
2spooky4me
Make us whole
Trollface ikr
Altman warned us about this shit and we didn't listen.
How does Jupiter sound so peaceful and beautiful when it's full of storms?
+Tara Nicole Never judge a book by it's cover! ;) Jupiter might has millions of storms, but to me it's nothing but a gentle giant! :)
Think of me; I get pissed off so easily and hate many things but care for others and is veryyyyy kind. Ish. :3 I is UvU peaceful and a chill person
Stuff involving electromagnetic waves and complicated stuff. It's complex, but I love space regardless.
+Tara Nicole It's because of the sound waves the Magnetic Field of Jupiter emits.
It's not the actual planet itself.
It's the fields.
Those damn dreaded tracks near the fields at school..
Reminds me of the flood levels from halo
OMG. XD I was thinking of the flood too..
Roger Hild It's not Jupiter, as it's in an entirely different system, but close enough.
Jupiter has the most musical space sounds in the solar system. It is not creepy! It is beautiful, ethereal, and mystical.
I have something to play during my next acid trip!
Lol wtf
be sure to post a report after your trip to jupiter
I was thinking the same thing man!
HYDRA Studios, aye ie captain!
So, how was your trip man?
It actually sounds a lot like ambient music, the kind that can stir up emotions and set an atmosphere. Amazing that this is from Jupiter!
Honestly this's the creepiest shit, and I love it
Oh you think that's creepy you should hear Saturn
CJM space videos saturn is a asshole
U should check out saturn, I can't sleep when Saturn screaming
I find the Deep ocean abyss to be more creepy, id rather we explore space than going down there into that void.
Saw it mate, that's definitely the voyager recording of Jupiter!
Had to check it! And yes it's actually the sound of Jupiter!! You have a great observation...🖖
Yes, you caught my thought
More people talking about how it's not creepy and that it's beautiful than PEOPLE ACTUALLY SAYING ITS CREEPY
+Ben Irwin yep
+Ben Irwin Creepy is just a man-made image.
And so is every single adjective Missioneer
Ben Irwin danng
Ben Irwin My point still stands.
If it was edited for whatever reason, at least it would've been good if they let you know about it and point to the original unedited source
hungryofknowlege21 You just broke my heart.
Oh fuck that I'm way too high for this
It's so strange how it sounds so much like music
Awesome sound Jupiter! A planet meditation. Love it. Sounds like a meditation for space enthusiasts.
There is sound in space, sound formed space. The entire universe is vibrating to the smallest particles they keep finding within a atom.everything vibrate ///vibration is sound
its sound and light
voyager spacecraft 1 & 2 are the first man made technologies to exit the solar system. The highest precision spacecraft using the gravity of the planets to achieve their missions. The highest longevity of any spacecraft built to date. Imagine your car lasting / functioning 39 years.
+M i s t e r u E k s u I Wonder do we have classic that can start over 3 decades? Oh wait, we do.
Without an oil change or gassing up?
It sounds like an intro/opening scene to a new Alien movie
The movie opens to the dark abyss of space with nothing but this eerie sound as the title slowly appears
Am I the only one who sees a naked man resting against a giant burrito?
| see a woman resting on a rock but same area i'm sure
To me, it looks like a hot dog bun.
Omfg these comments.
Im just laughing xD
i see flying turtles
haha no i saw it too
Me at the begginning of this: Oh this is nice. End: HOLY SHIT I THINK I HAVE BEEN BEYOND INFINITY! I CAN TASTE SOUND, I CAN HEAR COLORS, I CAN FEEL SMELLS, I CAN SMELL TEXTURES, I CAN SEE TASTES
Ur cool dude!
that is called synesthesia
"Put down the drink and stand back from the table. Don't attempt any quick moves or sudden thought. You'll be OK in a few hours..." - Zobo the Medic
Yes
Lay off the crack dude
It's like a melody. Earth is just a baby compared to the size of Jupiter. Fascinating really.
This is the exact quote from “they both die at the end” they must of took it from this since this is 15 years old
It's the Grox!
SERIOuSLY!=!?!??!?!?P! LOL!
***** Okay, 1. It was meant as a joke.
2. I've never even found Sol.
Note that NASA had nothing to do with these recordings beyond making the data publicly available. If any of the original natural plasma wave signals remain in this recording, they are unrecognizable. However, all of the Voyager PWS waveform data are available online. (I'd give you a link, but I'd only be rewarded with a ghost ban.)
Of course there are no audible frequency pressure waves in space, what we normally think of as sound.
Yhea well no shit. But the actually sound of the planet (Its electromagnetic waves) are what you are listning to.
Actually Jupiter has a thick gas atmosphere followed by a liquid ocean, and a solid core. You wouldn't catch on fire because there would be no oxygen to fuel the fire
museapex an ocean of liquid hydrogen! how cool is that!
***** How it is pure speculation? They're facts.
Well nevertheless it probably is true. It's not just pure guessing, scientists have calculated it.
This is incredibly fascinating, I love it.
