    I do have concerns with traffic in the future. With so many new people living here now and limited space (especially on the isthmus) it will be interesting how the city solves the influx of people. You can feel the change in traffic on the beltline, which is probably why they added the new flex lane, but will that be enough? Finally, one great thing about Madison is how easy it is to leave town, which ties into the biking culture. You can hop on a bike downtown and be in rural Wisconsin in less than half an hour.

    • @livinginmadisonwi
      @livinginmadisonwi  ปีที่แล้ว

      Will be interesting to see how the traffic progresses yes. The flex lane is definitely helping now, we’ll see if it lasts. The ease to rural Wisconsin is a huge upside and the nine other make it that much easier!

      Downtown is very safe and there are PLENTY of restaurants in the area. In terms of housing, you get what you pay for downtown. You can find affordable options, but they will definitely not be anything nice and will be in a pretty old building.

Also is there a better time of the year to move to Madison? Maybe higher bar restaurant job hiring & better rental deals??

      @JeffreyDahmenator ปีที่แล้ว

      @@afshinshawn6802 I no longer live there, but I did for 20 years. I would think the best time to find a bartending job would be around August because that’s when school starts, and a lot of the bars are college bars. I’m not familiar with that apartment complex though.

    I have a question. I am just curious what it would be like being an African American moving to Madison. Is Wisconsin tolerant of other cultures? I am educated, friendly and get along with everyone, I am just curious because I have read that Wisconsin can be segregated. I am moving from Southern California. I really am excited to move to Madison and continue my career there!

      Hello Joshua, thanks for your comment. Although I’m not sure I am the best person to answer your question I know there a lot of different ethnicities represented in Madison. Wisconsin is less diverse as a whole but you will find diversity in the City of Madison. Hope that helps some!

    UW M is an university and not a college!!! There is a difference! I have an engineering degree from that university!

    • @neenabuck9134
      @neenabuck9134 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was surprised to hear that description of UW as well. UW Madison is one of the top, leading research universities in the world, with a research budget of ~ $1.2 Billion/year. That's serious. It's hardly a "college," although there are separate colleges within the university system, including (for example) the College of Engineering.
      My guess is that the folks who posted this video might not be familiar with UW (it's a great video, btw, except for glossing over the importance of UW Madison!). This is a bit ironic, because - other than Madison being the State Capital - the biggest reason Madison is so fantastic is because of the presence of this great university and the kind of brain-power it attracts to this region!

    Not really the most livable place to live anymore. Too many people have moved here, the traffic and roads are terrible, and outside real estate moguls keep building apartment buildings everywhere that native madisonians cannot afford.
    I guess if you aren't from Madison it might be a good place to move, if you have money, but if you don't it can be a frustrating place to live.

    • @casedistorted
      @casedistorted ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, this is an outsiders view of Madison, WI. Loud F-35's, crime and drugs are on the rise, and rich real estate people keep building apartments that no natives can afford. Also folks with tons of money not from Madison move here thinking they'll make easy money, so they buy out all the cab companies and put half of them out of business, leaving people without a car few options to take besides the Madison Metro bus, or overpriced Ubers.
      Madison is quickly turning into a place to not move thanks to everyone thinking its the place to move.
