  • @thesoothingscribbler

    Ok, let's break down Saquon Barkley's play in sequential order:
    First, Saquon dodges the first defender; Nice, seen that move before.
    Second, the next defender thinks he's got Saquon all wrapped up until Saquon hits him with a spin move that would make a blender jealous; Impressive.
    Lastly, after leaving the second defender in a spin-induced daze like Iverson crossing a defender over, Saquon spots another defender in the corner of his eyes charging towards him. With his blurry vision still spinning like a top, he turns around, channels his inner Simone Biles and vaults over the guy like he's auditioning for the U.S. Olympics gymnastics team, and sticks the landing only to be flanked by like 5 Jaguars; Holy smokes! What did I just see?
    After seeing that, yeah I'm in.

    • @Cerberus9c
      @Cerberus9c หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm in as well. The spin move is one of the cleanest I've ever seen in this sport. Then to follow it up with something we've never seen before? Yeah it's the most athletic play I've seen. I'll remember this play like I remember the beast mode run and I'm not an eagles or seahawks fan.

    I'm IN. Amazing one handers, all the jukes and spins and hurdles, even that flip they showed... they've all been done before in one way or another. Ya the flip he stuck the landing, but other people have done the flip and if I recall I think Newton stuck the landing on a flip. Ya at some point in time someone was the first person to ever do it, but we're how many decades into the NFL? Nobody has ever pulled this move, or even heard of this move being pulled, or have even thought of pulling this move, at any level, ever. People practice incredible one handed catches. Guys practice hurdles. Guys even practice flipping, they know they can do a flip before they attempt that. Nobody practices what Saquon did, not even Saquon himself, because nobody has ever thought it'd be useful in an NFL game. This came in the moment purely instinct and reaction. That's incredible.

    The answer is YES.
    I love amazing one handed catches or helmet catches or breaking multiple tackles and of course hurdles... those are all amazing but many people have done all of those. No one and I mean no one has combined those elements AND done a backwards hurdle over a player, landed and then took multiple people to bring them down.

    Front flips are easy! Anybody can front flip! I know I can… Little kids even can! Tons of football players have done it! High school, college, in the NFL. But nobody, I mean nobody, has ever done anything like Barkley did the other day! And never will again!
    Just google football player front flips you’ll find lots of examples… Jerome Simpson might have the best “front flip”… but it’s not hard, anybody would try it! Usually the defender ends up hitting their legs and actually helps them rotate!
    Barkley play is just a whole different level let’s be real!

    The hit after the reverse jump, is that worth trying to hurdle someone?

    Jerome Simpson landing a front flip over a defender for the TD is still far and away the most athletic play.

      Other people have flipped over people and if I recall newton also stuck the landing. People practice flipping and know they can do it before the attempt it. Its in player's minds as an option... nobody has ever seen or heard of this at any level of football ever.

      Players practice tumbling techniques like somersaults, unless they have a gymnastics background, a full flip over another upright adult male is monumental. A reverse leap frog? I could do that over the tallest defender trying to go low.
      It was a cool sequence, great highlight and move. A feat of sheer athletic prowess? Probably not.

      Everytime something nice happens the convo "Best ever" comes up. Its ridiculous. 1000's of plays forgotten or overlooked, Why can't it just be an amazing play lol. I would put the Jerome Simpson front flip over a man td higher. People forget so easily lol.

    That was an awesome move but in no way is it the greatest play in NFL history! That is absurd to say ! If he scored a TD after the hurdle then yes maybe so but he basically got 2 more yards so it’s definitely not the greatest ever!!!

    • @landonhendrickson3000
      @landonhendrickson3000 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Buddy they didn’t say greatest play, they are arguing it’s the most athletic play

      @ still the NFL has been around for so so many years I don’t remember every single play in history but I can say that was an athletic play but not the GOAT no way maybe if he gained more than 2 yards after the hurdle but I’m sure there are many similar plays where someone did score or at least gain many more yards! But was it a great athletic play yes there’s no doubt. I just get tired of the recency bias.

    • @TezzSr91
      @TezzSr91 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@landonhendrickson3000Then it really gets even harder to debate, because there have been soo many athletic plays that have just went by the way side. Just let it be an amazing play, stop trying to call anything new "the best"
