KAYLEE BRYSON Mixes it up with the BOYS on SPRINGFIELD MILE DIRT

- Kaylee Bryson had an eventful day on the Springfield, Illinois Mile Dirt, mixing it up with the Boys on the USAC Silver Crown Series tour. The 60th running of the Tony Bettenhausen 100 went off without a hitch alongside the Illinois State Fair, ongoing since 1853...history, tradition, excitement, drama...it was all there for the History Mystery Man. In addition to Kaylee, interviews include Shane Cockrum, Kody Swanson, CJ Leary, AJ Fike, Aaron Pierce, and a soundbite with the winner, Logan Seavey. After the race, I spent a fun night at the Illinois State Fair to take in the music, fun and fair food at one of the biggest and best State Fairs in America. Join me, the History Mystery Man, for a one-of-a-kind adventure at the Illinois State Fair with the USAC Champ Cars on the "world's fastest mile dirt"... enjoy, and thanks for your support!
You tied that "fair music" into this clip perfectly and it made it very enjoyable to watch...thanks!
Thanks Joe...so appreciated. HMM
What great day, races and fair food. After see the last 2 videos the Illinois State Fair race is now on my bucket list. How could anyone not be a Kaylee Bryson fan. She is a great racer and even a better person.
Yeah I absolutely love the State Fairs, just as much as I love the races...and the combo of both is off the charts. Kaylee is super awesome. Thanks again, Bill...HMM
Don, super video. You really captured some excellent interviews. Always nice to get to better know the drivers. I sure hope Kaylee races again at the Eldora 4-Crown which is coming up. Loved watching her there last Fall. And speaking of this type of racing, earlier this morning I stumbled across the 1973 Hooiser 100 from Indy. I was at that race with my Dad. Again, super video here Don.
Thanks again, Chuck. I was also at the 1973 Hoosier 100! HMM
Another great video! I love the Silver Crown cars. Great interviews as well. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks...so appreciated! HMM
Don, you are killing it! I always enjoy your kindness and videos. Can't wait for the next one. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thanks Mike...so appreciated! HMM

You're always welcome, John! HMM

Another great video. Great interviews with the drivers.
Keep up the great work, it's much appreciated.
You got it Roger...always grateful to have you along for the adventures. HMM
@HistoryMysteryMan always a pleasure to see a new video come up!
Another great one Don! Thanks for the footage!
You're always welcome; thanks again for watching! HMM
A mile dirt track, yee haw. This time of year it can be tough to hit the set-up and to do it on a mile track for a 100 lap race. Another great tour you brought us along for! I thank you for letting me tag along! Thanks for the memories!
I'd be bummed if you didn't come along for the adventure...thanks again, Robert! HMM
I wish I knew you were there, I would have loved to meet you in person. I enjoyed seeing that race again. It was a good day for it too! Another great video HMM!!
Thanks Wes. Well...if you ever see me at the track, make sure to track me down and say hello. Thanks for your continued support...HMM
Awesome video, great racing content. Kaylee is doing great in Silver Crown, excited to see what the future holds for her....
Sky is the limit for Kaylee; I'll keep rooting her on. Thanks for watching...HMM
Thanks for sharing. Silver crown cars are my favorite. I was lucky enough to see them from the sixties on up. There's something sexy about a USAC Champ Car Silver Crown Series car..I follow Kaylee.
Yeah...they're beautiful race cars. I too have memories of the Champ cars from the 60s...so cool. Thanks for watching. HMM
Don we love u & your videos awesome! Thanks again
So many thanks! HMM
Very enjoyable video Don .
Thanks again, Wayne...always appreciated. HMM
Great gal! Great video !!
Yeah...Kaylee is super awesome! Thanks...HMM
Thanks Don for the driver interview's. Has Kaylee ever mentioned to you any interest in driving Indy cars someday ?
She has, actually. She seems to have her eye on Indy, rather than NASCAR...time will tell. Thanks again, Tom...HMM
Love how you bring out what the drivers do beside the racing. If you do another Silver Crown, check out the two Pennsylvania cars #24 and #31.
Thanks Marie...and I'll check out those PA drivers. I know Mike Haggenbottom, so that would go well. HMM
Great, as usual, Don!!
So many thanks! HMM
Hun...i know we were renewing our wedding vows tonight, but History Mystery Man has new content....what are you doing Thursday night?
So hysterical! Thanks again, John...I appreciate you! HMM
Another home run! I like the speed shots but am surprised that they'll let you be that close to the guard rail when the cars are running. I know you've talked with Kaylee at other tracks -- she's exactly what car owners like -- not only driving talent but also a winning personality. I saw something at the beginning of the season indicating that she would be driving one of Sam Pierce's cars in the Trans Am Series (TA2). However, looking at the points standings it doesn't appear that she has been in any races to this point. At the end of a racing season, I'd like to see a map showing the journeys you've traveled to bring us all of this interesting content. Can you estimate the number of miles you drive during a typical season?
Thanks again! The Fairgrounds tracks (Springfield and DuQuoin) are throwback tracks; it's why I love them so much. Back in the day, much of circle track racing was done at fairgrounds across America...now very few survive that support the racing/fair combo. Very risky standing next to the rail...and I would never recommend it. I took the chance but I was not comfortable with it. Not sure I'd do it again. Miles-wise, I'm going to have to take some time to add that one up. I know for sure I spend way, way more money than I bring in...not even close. Sometimes I scratch my head over it and wonder why I keep doing it. Fortunately, I love this "hobby" but it's hard on this old man. It was 97 degrees at Springfield and I usually average 8 miles on my feet in one day. I can tell you I used to drive a lot more in a race season when I was the PR Director for ARCA (1997 thru 2018). I worked 454 consecutive ARCA races (I never missed one during my tenure). Here's the kicker...I drove to every ARCA race...never flew once...it's how we traveled in the "glamorous" world of stock car racing. Thanks...HMM
Kaylee is most definitely an Open Wheeled Star. Very special talent
She's on her way for sure! Thanks for watching, Greg...HMM
the way they were ment to race, a mile dirt track, too bad the indiana state fair was rendered so it cant have cars on it to race, and this only serves to boil my nerves all over again when I see this, and the indiana state fair was going on till last week, like being promised a feast and for some reason taken away while all the others around get to have it and they force me to watch them eat of it, is it right the racing capital of the world has every track and racing done there but long track dirt as in half mile or larger though we had one and the indiana fair board spurned it for gambling money, and parking, and the race that was there was thee crown jewel of big dirt track racing, second only to indy 500 and daytona 500 in the heyday, maybe somehow we can get the hoosier back on a dirt track somehow, even if not the mile or maybe one day they will bring it back,
as for lincolins house went there in 1991ish and the living history new salem that was one of the places he grew up that had log cabins and reenactors which was facinating as well while we were visiting neighbors that moved to illinose.
as for watching the race from the rail I dont know if I would do it without a catch fence in front of me I am leary of it at eldora alone but a fairground track.
now on to what I wanted to inform you if you got the chance hit up auburn next weekend for the auburn cord dussinburg festival thats the time to do it going into labor day, auburn is at its height of fame and what keeps it on the map but its buissy though but its the time to come if you like old cars some of them are even hot rods and race cars not just the antique cars that were made by the auburn auto company.
Yeah...that scared me...being down on the rail...don't think I'd ever do it again. I've been to New Salem many times...love it out there. I won't be able to get to Auburn, but I'd love to. Thanks again...HMM
@@HistoryMysteryMan its a bit easier then when they have the county fair the last week of sep but thats when you see it on full display,
Don, outstanding coverage as usual I'm addicted to your show and you make it seem like we're all there with you keep doing what you're doing. My favorite tracks are the all theState fairgrounds, especially Milwaukee let's see you do some coverage there and and help put that place back on the map! it deserves as much coverage as and you're the man to do it
I'd love to do some shows from the iconic Milwaukee Mile, and thanks for your vote of confidence! Thanks for watching, too...HMM@@since1961
