Combustor - Explained

This video explains how a combustor inside of a jet engine works. There are dilution holes which serve multiple purposes. This video goes into detail of these purposes and explains how it works.

The flame is required to be kept alive inside the combustor cans, because not all the cans have an spark ignitor and rely on the flame for combustion to happen when fuel is injected. Combustor cans are interconnected which helps the flame travel between the cans with and without an ignitor in it.
