In Jamaica, we have many different kinds of soup, but they are a little different from the African soup, but the concept is the same. When the Africans were brought to Jamaica, they didn't have time to practice their way of cooking; they were too busy laboring on the plantations, and many died from overworked, so they had to cook their food fast. Jamaica and Haiti had the worst form of slavery. It was so bad that women could hardly carry their pregnancies for nine months. Your meal looks delicious! Many years ago, I went to an "African" restaurant in Brooklyn New York. I was so excited to finally have a dish from the continent. It was a beef stew with fufu in the middle. Well, apparently the restaurant owner was fully Americanized because that fufu taste just like the instant potato flakes they used to feed us in school cafeterias. It was not authentic, so disappointed! Well, since I was in New York...I found a market that sold yellow yams and a wooden mortar and tried to make it myself. It had a few lumps, but I loved it! Can't wait to have authentic fufu in Ghana though.

@Angel Mangena, get some green plantains & cassava from any afro-Caribbean shop. Peel skin off & cut separately into v v small pieces. In fact, you could slice to make it easier to blend. Add water, not so watery though. Ensure it blends v finely. Pour the thick paste like a "smoothie", into a cooking pot, put on the cooker, stirring with a wooden spatula or banku stick, ensuring it doesn't become lumpy, until the mixture binds really well & turns into the yellowish fufu colour & add a bit of hot water acc to your preferred consistency. Turn the thick fufu onto a clingfilm, mould it & turn it into a bowl. Now, you've got your fufu to enjoy with your light soup. It gets quicker & better with a v good blender & more practice . And you're certainly not eating semolina but real fufu!!🤣🤣🤞🏾

I love Ghana and the people. I had a holiday there in 2009 and intend to return soon. Especially now that my DNA shows that I am 40% Ghanaian. Lovely video. Love the vibes😊
Wow congratulations come there soon
Making me homesick. Delicious chicken light soup with fufu is a Christmas delight. Our American sister is assimilating on a fast trajectory. Your husband is a good tutor. Wishing you guys a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I’m a Ghanaian born living in the USA. I’m an American citizen now and I have been praying to God to send me a woman like this (wife) who will want to live such a life like this with me. I want me an American.
"Babe, this looks like work." And "I thought it was decoration." Girl, you had me laughing! I've eaten Nigerian fufu with egusi..LOVED IT
Hi bro you better take good care of that lady she's one in a billion
You can say that again 💯💕
Congratulations to this young lady. She pounds fufu very well, welcome to your motherland Africa❤️💐🍀
As an American, this video had me cracking up. Especially when she mentioned the blinder and that it’s 2023 😂😂😂😂😂😂 then the falling and staying on the ground. I was too weak.
Somehow I feel like crying 😭. I'm so touched. I may be also from Africa but don't know how to live the indigenous life. This touches me to the core
My dear mix water and ashes and put it around your cooking pot, if not it will tern all your pot to black because of the fire wood. Indeed I envy your way of leaving so I don't want to miss anyone of your videos. Because I comfort my soul with your videos. You have the best husband in the world so let him teach you, you will learn to do all because you're clever. I wish you all the best.
The chicken are restless, because any day they could be next for dinner. Love is the rythem of life and you two make an orchestra.
Love his energy at the end!! Loved her comfort and openess to learn throughout the video. First time watching anything on this channel
I love this lady...God bless you girl....for understanding my African brother and accepting him for who he is....lovely man...

My sister is American and her husband is Ghanaian. Her and their children travel between the states and Ghana often. When she's in Ghana, she enjoys the full experience of Africa. I've shared your channel with her. We smile and laugh because your experiences are all too familiar! Maybe we'll see you in the streets of Accra🙂
Didn't they in video say they in Northern Ghana?? Accra is on Southern Ghana.
@@elaynahrogers6723 they shop in Accra from time to time
I'm proud of you sis. You did that! I don't know how I found you'll channel but I'm grateful I did🙏

Gurl you’re gonna learn how to be an African woman. Y’all are so sweet together❣️
Great for upper body strength ❤
Hi Family, I’ve been watching several of your videos and decided to subscribe after seeing how the two of you worked together in bringing it all together. I was in Nigeria few years ago, tried the fufu and would have loved to have actually pounded some like the two of you did. I did get the experience of going to market buying a live chicken, then returning home to prepare it for dinner later. It was so fresh and delicious. Thanks for sharing your journey on the farm. I rarely make comments but always thumbs up 👍🏽 . Hopefully you have a email address. Peace and Love always❤. You’re blending very well 😊

@@ladysaw9995 thanks for sharing. I’m so very curious. My cousins have been and I’m looking into flights and accommodations. What did you cherish most about your time there?
@G. ok. I might be going this year, but I'm not sure yet. My favorite part was the Hawkers. Their like street vendors, you can buy every and anything on the roads of ghana from the comfort of your car.
@G. what did your cousins think about their time in Ghana?
@@ladysaw9995 my sistah, my cousins LOVE GHANA!!!!!!!!
They are two different cousins (one from my moms side and the other from my dads). The one from my moms side visits once or twice a year over the past decade and the other cousin has been numerous times and plans on moving at some point.
I was always a Nigeria lover and ancestry has descendants from there and Ghana. Upon more research Ghana has a firmer hold and focus on our safety and potential for safety and business. So I’m on board. Speaking about it makes me wanna go sooner (this summer) rather than later.
Your husband is so hilarious 😂
Looks delicious. I am originally from Trinidad but live in Florida. As a child growing up in Trinidad I used to see my grandmother make this with plantains.
Your videos can win any kind of award because the shots are amazing
Agree 🎉
Wonderful to see. Thanks for adapting to our culture. Love you 2. thanks for sharing.
I'm Ghanaian. Much love from Switzerland 🇨🇭 ❤️
The smile and sounds of enjoyment from your husband is worth all of the hard work. Great job sweetie!👍🏽
I love how you two work together....reminds me of my husband and I when we cook together....LOVE IT!
you guys crack me up so much, I love you guys. I watch all of your videos. The wife is so humble. Husband too. I admire her willingness to adapt to African culture. Vim Man say "my wife did good" Yaaaaaas!!!! Awwww 👑❤️👑⚘️
I love your videos. I watch them from Atlanta, GA and I’m so envious of you guys. I love what you’ve built. It’s awesome. 👍🏽❤
I salute you. Guys. You and your husband are giving life the best shot. I never imagined there could be someone from the west trying to live especially village life. The thing about village life is the quality, hard as it is, it makes you a greater person because most of the things you need to be as creative and innovative as your mind can allow you. Again Salute and all the best
We’ve created our own world. We are the village. 🤭

I stumbled upon this channel for the first time and what you guys are doing is great😊😊
Catching up on your videos...this by far has been the funniest, I'm still cracking up. The closest I've come to fufu is the garri you add water to, I would be so worn out if I had to pound yam. You go, Queen... I Love watching you two! 🤗
You two are hilarious and I love it. Great video, thanks.
I just ran into your videos and I like the optic, the naturally of my Ghanaian friend, his desire to stay focused first , to achieve before self gratification. I also appreciate the adaptive lifestyle of my American friend, her humble gestures and kitchen prowess. Both of you share similarly lifestyle like my wife and I.
We love animals, keep pets grow lots of perennial plants and trees in a 15htr farm in Nigeria our home country. Good to meet you.

Fufu is one of the best foods in west Africa and we have many different ways to prepare it in Liberia. Thanks for everything to promote Africa.
Good to see you teaching your wife how to cook and pound cassava, keep it up 🇳🇦🇳🇦
Girl! You are funny!!! Who’s the black Lucy and Ricky?? That’s y’all! 😂❤❤ Love! 🌹 Thank for documenting your journeys. I’ve followed since you were in the Americas and hearing a little of your story has help me when so was searching for more and better.
Merry Christmas from the beautiful country of South Africa..oh wow thank you for sharing. I'm learning a lot from you two. It's amazing how diverse we are. I've never tried some of your foods but they always look yummy😋😍🙏❤
@@andromedab902 Thank you for the info. I'll sure try that.
