The Airgun Show - awesome crow and pigeon hunting, PLUS how to shoot more in winter…

  • It’s not every day that you make a bumper bag of corvids, but we join Mat Manning on an epic day targeting crows, rooks and jackdaws. The birds have homed in on a freshly sown field and Mat has a great session drawing them in with decoys and shooting them from the cover of a hide.
Also in this week’s show, Mat shares some valuable advice to help you bag more during your winter hunting trips. It’s tempting to stay at home when the weather turns cold but Mat’s top tips should help you to enjoy some red-hot action whatever the weather.

Yes, we should have got a shot through the net.
Nicky is a very busy bloke. He has a proper job as a cameraman in London so he has to join us in the field as and when he can fit it in.

Great bit of shooting mat 👍
I have to agree with winter shooting it's the best time. I do most of my shooting with night vision so it's great getting out as early as 5pm rather than waiting til 10.30pm.
Plus there's less cover, vegetation, crops, which makes it a lot easier.

Hi Mat. I really enjoy watching your channel. A couple of questions for you. You said it a few times but I'm not sure which is correct. Is it a "City Tree" or "Sitting Tree" and why so named? Secondly, the legs on your shooting sticks really stand out. Why don't you wrap camo tape around the lower sections, the same as your modifier/silencer? Keep up the good work. 👍

Comfortable is an understatement for that gun at that power depending on the ammo. Good form Oldboy. Good form. Basically, anything you see within 20-100 yards, depending on wind/elevation call, is yours...great choice. Thank you for being mindful. Good form, awesome shooting. Without doubt! Perfect! Amazing hunt...THANK YOU! I do despise the cold and wet, that said you are 100% right!

Quite agree with you Matt you can have very good session out in the cooler condition. The grey squirrel does most of the tree damage in the colder months of the year, also in early spring they go for birds eggs and chick's so get out and keep on with the pest control .

      Hi Paul.
In this instance they are being shot for crop protection. Crows and jackdaws also predate on eggs and chicks of songbirds in the spring. These birds also cause serious problems for sheep farmers by pecking the eyes out of newborn lambs.
