A major portion of the Armenian community is very uncomfortable with normalizing anything with turkey. Mostly because to do so would require major concessions and capitulation. Erdogan actually asks for constitutional changes to Armenians constitution, a separation of the Armenian diaspora from influencing Armenia, as well as normalizing ties based on forgetting about the genocide. None of this is any of his business, and is the equivalent of national suicide . There are protests about this. I am surprised at this interview and usually Giragossian is very informative. But it’s quite misleading here to think of that this is going to be a simple process or that Armenians are ready to forget the horrors they have experienced throughout the years at the hands of any collaborating turks.
Major concessions and capitulation?? Basically what Turkey want is Armenia to be realistic. You have to recognize the border, stop land demands and any other reparation non sense. With the shrinking population of Armenia this is the only logical way. You do not even have to be smart to see this.
@@eren3390 probably in defense of their women and children, some men were forced to defend themselves. If you hold turkey as a legitimate country in any way, you would not make these arguments. If they were legit back then, that government was required to protect the people under them. Armenians and Greeks were paying taxes. These kinds of arguments are what holds turkey back from being accepted by the rest of the world’s governments. And they play turkey and use them, because of this lack of self respect and immorality or dishonesty. It’s your country’s loss. And it seems personal to you, so you then become part of that losing side.
Thank you for this interview. Very enlightening!
Facts on ground:
Russian troops have left Nagorno Karabakh.
Armenia cedes territory to Azerbaijan.
Not Armenia, the puppet, foreign-financed and installed “government” of Armenia…
And by foreign I mean the US/UK and collective West
