Thank you for making a video about a very important job. As you say, it is a forgotten job - sometimes on purpose by mechanics as it is sometimes a time consuming and fiddly job to complete. Helps you breathe clean air and helps keep your windows clean. Has to be worth the effort.
Not only did this video show me where to find the cabin filter in my car, because my ac smelled and air vents stank to high heaven…..but I had no idea I had two 12v outlets on my car😂 it’s in such an odd place, I can now have my dash can plugged in 24/7 and have my Bluetooth socket in 😂 thanks George you absolute mad lad 🫶🏻😂
I keep bloody forgetting to comment! Not this time ... I'm here and proud to be typing away celebrating the continued efforts of the You Tube BMW elite putting the graft in and living the RWD dream life!! Big up big G! Love a cabin air filter swap ... usually your breathing in stuff that's come from a corpse without swapping it lol
The reason the car makers put cabin air filters in is to stop you the drivers breathing in Diesel particulates from the car in front, it has nothing to do with pollen. Great Video George and I would like to add that filter is in roughly the same place on all cars, yes some under the wipers some on the driver side some through the glovebox but as a tech most of my fleet are through the glove box for access thats through the pens, the receipts, the tampons, its amazing what you guys keep in the glovebox and then present it for a service, everything bar the service book thats at home somewhere ! "oh I will call in next week at lunchtime when your busy on a Friday to get you to stamp it for me" "what locking wheel nut key". LOL rant ! lol what you guys have to think is that was an easy job for George but you will pay a garage about a UK £1 per minute to do it and make our life hard by presenting your car loaded to the roof with day to day baggage, and then say did you check the spare " yes miss, after climbing under the dash through the old costa cups I also checked the spare tyre under the pushchair, stinky gym kit and second hand fridge you had in the boot" Great Videos George Keep them coming
Excellent clear and precise video, many thanks. Update, I’ve now carried out the work and it is straightforward with little skill and only two hand tools. However unless you are very young and agile verging on being a contortionist it’s a bugger trying to get at the T20’s. Just be prepared for a few expletives and an aching back the following day. Mind you I’m 70 so not as flexible as I once was.
I have noticed in this video your replacement filter was more flexible alot like the Mahle I removed, the replacement was very stiff, could this me because it was the cheapest? Thanks for video
Hi George a very informative. Video one again could u at all give me some pointers please I have a 2006 x5 e53 m57tu 80 thousand miles went to it this morning to set off and there was no boost power from turbo got to the asda 5 min away went in came out set of again and it was back to normal intermittent could this indicate a bad egr or actuator many thanks dan
Most people have never even heard of the pollen filter, and i was surprised to be told by a mechanic that its not included in a service !, you have to ask specificaly for it ! Ehh but most dont know it exists ! Rest assured i change mine every year at service before mot. Not sure why ur promoting only 3 makes ?, on autodoc ive been buying Ridex parts and no complaints so far !!
Hello George, regarding the E46(?) diesel engine that stops and doesn't want to start. I read about a "common" problem that follows by newer dryer diesel. The gaskets in the diesel pump dry out and then you have air leaks! Have you renewed the gaskets in the pump?
I have one of these' same year. There is a diesel smell coming through the air con. Could the filter be the issue or do you think I should take it into the garage?
Car wasn't demisting the windscreen, done this and its all sorted now - thanks mate, awesome work 🤜🤛
You're welcome!

Thanks for this mate, top video and very clear!
Glad to help mate!
Yes...i recently replaced my two cabin air filters with carbon activated ones

I’ve replaced the Intank and inline pumps with new seals but haven’t replaced anything on the HPFP
Nice one 👍 the lock tights could mean one less rattle or squeak in your BMW 😆
Great stuff George , I need to do mine, good reminder 😎😂👍🏻
Thanks as always Richard👌🏼

Likely have an exhaust leak or oil leak
I just changed mines thank you 😁
No problem 👍
Is this where it will be on a 2015 model on a 116d ???
Yes
Any update on your breakdown nightmare?
Video up on Sunday👍🏻
Why so fiddly? Every vehicle I've owned I've dropped the glove box and popped a new filter in. 60 second job. BMW they will charge an hour labour.
Really not too bad!
Corner :-)
That car is an F20. F21 is the 3 door.
I said F20 1 series
