    I never thought about the crosswind causing the bullet to dip or ride the wind like that. Thanks for that!

    This was a good casting. Professional MDT staff members representing MDT as a company. Knowledgeable info. Something for everyone. MDT also has chassis, bipod, brakes, and more. From beginner to Elite, Something for everyone.

    At 4:00 he says a scope shade takes away from the scope's light collecting ability, isn't that not true?

      You are correct. I suppose it’s true if referring to off-axis light that can cause flare or degrade the visual image, but that’s what we don’t want. A sunshade on a riflescope or photographic lens helps eliminate those things, but doesn’t reduce the amount of light coming from the front that forms the image we see. When I use a shade on camera lens, it doesn’t affect the exposure at all, and I usually use them. I don’t do the type of shooting that requires me to be concerned about the extra length that a sunshade adds to a scope, so mine are left in place all the time.

      @@johnstewart2011 I leave my sunshades on as well. It's odd to see someone on a channel that does myth-busting for LR saying that. Hopefully someone tells him eventually.

    Very informative. Although I was familiar with most, I learned a few new things. I would, however, have called the video “Rifleman and shooter terms and slang” because not everything discussed were what I would consider to be slang. “Hammer,” “water line,” and some others, yes, but not terms like B.C., spin drift, or sunshade.

    Guy describing spin drift says the bullet “constantly climbs to the right”. Very wrong. Physical impossibility for the bullet to climb.

    • @magic4221
      @magic4221 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Must agree with Guy....to a point. Bullet doesn't climb but it does move to right on right hand twist barrels, and left on left twist barrels. But left hand twist barrels are rare and very expensive, why I don't know.

    • @fiftysixseventyfive

      So, it actually can climb, in a sense. A bullet from right twist barrel with a right->left wind can actually "climb" on the wind. Look up "Aerodynamic Jump," pretty neat actually. Really doesn't have a pronounced effect below 10mph, but it does exist.

    • @vgl217
      @vgl217 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Aerodynamic jump and spin drift both make a bullet "climb".

      Spin drift really is what’s called the Magnus effect in physics. It actually does ”lift” up and in the direction of the rifling. However it’s not greater than gravity, but will ”fight it” at the same rate of the sideways drift.

    • @glennwood3912
      @glennwood3912 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m pretty sure the terms climb or lift usually indicate overcoming gravity.

    Drives me nuts that guys explain water line as though it is horizontal. It is NOT... ever. The very term is a misnomer... Wind from the right impacts high left... Winds from the left impact low right. If you don't know that you should not be talking in this video. The difference with contaminate your ballistic calculations.
