LENT AS HUMILITY | PHILIPPIANS 2:5-8
Philippians 2:5-8 is one of the earliest Christian statements we have, and it’s all about the humility of God. In the ancient world, much as in our own day, people revered as godlike were all too quick to exploit that status for their gain. God subverts this human tendency in the person of Jesus, teaching us the lesson of radical humility as a way of God-given life.
PEOPLE OF PROMISE
People of Promise is a new weekly devotional series reflecting on the rhythms of traditional seasons in the Church year.
People of Promise: Reflecting the Rhythms of Lent presents passages from Scripture to illuminate the themes of Lent and provide encouragement for your spiritual walk. Prof. Wright invites viewers to follow Jesus in the way of the cross, sustained by the scriptures, as we look towards the purposes of God.
People of Promise video devotionals arrive every Monday through the liturgical seasons of Lent, Eastertide, and Advent. Make sure you like the video and subscribe to our channel, so you never miss a single one.

Excellent short message for this time of year by the world’s leading New Testament scholar
Thanks be to God.
In a country where the government seek a greedy power above the needs of the people, it's good to hear this message that goes deep, and if humanity could only grasp the truth and radiate that light into the darkness bringing peace hope and above all love as Christ loved. Thank you for this insightful meaningful message.
Great teaching, great aplication! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing how we are supposed to be living
Thank you so much.
This is powerful....go to the place where the world is in pain and pray there 😭
Dear NT Wright, I really have enjoyed the many podcasts about a wonderful Holy God. I have always known the story was bigger than just being saved etc. and more about God’s bigger plan of putting things right to how they should/shall be.
God bless and keep you for many years to come ….you were actually answered prayers after seeing the late Mr C Hitchens also Mr Dawkins on TH-cam debating. I hoped that someone could match them and prayed then you came to my attention.
God has and still is using you I believe 🙏🙏🙏😊
Yes Prof, you were also the answer to my prayer when there was that nagging feeling that the Gospel of the kingdom of God was much more than what i had been hearing coming from the pulpit every Sunday growing up. The mustard tree is indeed taking shape albeit slowly but surely so that the whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God as the waters cover the sea.
One of my favourite bible verses - in itself a poem - a chiasm. Apt then to look at another powerful poem as well. Thank you for your knowledge and insights.
Amazing
❤ it it's true Jesus Christ is Lord 🙏 not seasor. We should be humble. Jesus is my Lord and savior.
Amen !
It brought me to deeper understanding of the humility of Jesus and how He redefines kingship and this should be the model of how church should be. Amen!!
This was a great teaching. I enjoyed the poem. Thank you for reminding us Who Jesus really is and Who Jesus was. And Who He will continue to be.
Amen! Thank you!! Prof. Wright
Excellent message for all of us to remember.
Thank you
Thank you
Amazing teaching 🙏🏽
Thank you as always, prof. Wright
I appreciate these meditations. May I ask which Bible translation you are using? It is a bit different from ones I usually use. Shalom.
Sure! NT readings are from the Kingdom New Testament translation.
Dear teacher, I am concerned for your hands. Can I pray for you?
We would appreciate your prayers for the ministry of N.T. Wright Online, and, of course glad for prayers for arthritis (support gloves help!)
@@NTWrightOnline so happy they help
I was telling myself to participate in prison ministry.
Amen 🙏
