Many thanks for your episode on our son, Matty. We really appreciate your interest and also that more people in the world are made aware of Michael Atkins, what he has done and that he is still out there amongst us all. You have done justice to Matty's memory. Mark and Faye Leveson

This collaboration with Josh & Kendall was awesome for both stories. Both videos were excellent. Matty's parents are extremely strong to go through what they went through and being able to not only bring home their son, but the palm tree 🌴 that had grown over his burial site to their garden. Many prayers & thoughts to his family on their tragic loss that they've turned into a positive with raising a glass to "new life".
the palm tree in their garden has me bawling. he was such a bright light that even in death he created new life. the world is darker without him. RIP, Matt 🖤
I get that he can’t go to jail for murder, but why can’t he go to jail now for all the people who came out and said that he has sexually assaulted them?

The palm tree in their garden has me absolutely sobbing. His parents are tough as hell, I can't imagine. You guys did such a great job covering this case and Im so happy Mile Higher brought me over to your podcast!
So I work on my art while I listen to True Crime and during these two collab episodes I needed to look up from my work almost every time one of the boys talked because I couldnt tell who was speaking!😅
matty wanted to be found, which is why the excavator was stuck where the palm tree was. Thank you guys for sharing this story with us, great job as always!
when I tell you i bawled my eyes out when you said about Matthews parents took the palm tree that grew over him.. i honestly did. This has been such an amazing collab and i can't wait to se more for sure! Both are my top podcasts to watch, I'm so happy to finally have this collab!
Josh and Kendall are amazing! If you don't listen to/ watch Mile Higher you totally should! Kendall also has another podcast called The Sesh that is equally awesome and super chill. I also love Josh's podcast "Lights Out" ♡
I question the Josh praise considering the stupid and ignorant shit he spews in his own podcast (Lights Out), but I agree with the rest. They're amazing. I still give Josh the side-eye.
@@Crabby-Abby Nothing "ignorant" in that way (if that's what you're seeking). Just stuff like "we should replace judges with AI" or judging people for proceeding with caution and not immediately thinking of someone as a victim, especially after a gruesome murder and he's the only one alive, etc. and all other stuff that probably should have been left in the cutting room floor.
I don’t cry very often when I listen to True Crime, but this ending made me cry. Such a beautiful ending to a tragic story- his soul continued to be full of life even after he passed.
Hearing about Matty and seeing the pictures of him, you can just tell what a kind and vibrant person he was. It breaks my heart so much that someone so evil took advantage of him. It was beautiful though to see the palm tree grow above him and the family has that to keep.
My best friends son was murdered 10 yrs ago and she still breaks down and cries several times a week and she has no questions as to how, why or who. His killer still walks free tho. She knows who he is and fights daily to how serve her own justice. I’ve had to talk her down several times from doing it. This case is heart breaking. The palm tree is beautiful. The palm tree being replanted in their home is just a beautiful way of preserving a small piece of their beautiful son. Rest in Peace Matthew♥️ I can’t believe how incredibly strong his parents are🥺
This episode, like most of the cases you cover, is so heartbreaking. I love that his family saved the tree. That is a beautiful way to preserve his memory. And now they have a place to go visit him without ever having to leave their home.
love the length of the video and the dialogue in between, and especially afterwards, you and garrett should definitely do more of that after the story to start a discussion. this was an amazing episode !!!
I discovered you guys from mile higher media and i’m so so so thankful. I appreciate true crime but I only give my attention to those who cover cases ethically. You guys are awesome! I’m going to binge every episode before I go back to work.
I use to text my 3 adult kids every morning and every evening but decided that it was kind of intrusive and controlling (I’m a little bit of a worry wart), so now I try to only text randomly but if too much time goes by before one of my 3 checks in, I start panicking, but still I try to maintain. Usually I have to hear from my kids every 24 to 36 hours. They are real good about checking in though. Thank you.❤❤❤

Btw...I used to be a manager at A Menards (from Michigan) you're not missing much. My sister calls it her favorite "garage sale store" cause they have soooo much random sh*t...
OMG I don't know what I felt and thought when we go to the part where the palm tree literally grew above Matt. . . .he must have been one special person. How symbolic.
I was so happy to hear about them saving the tree, when i listened to the reveal and story of how it grew from that spot it reminded me of this quote "Where there is love, there is life" Mathew was such a beautiful light to all who loved him and i think its so powerful and touching that this tree grew from such a awful and unnecessary and callas ending to a beautiful soul. It almost feels like even in death, matthew still was that love and light and beauty, even in the most dark and tragic way of loss, michael still couldnt take that wonderful spirit and light away. Idk if im even explaining this well enough, but for them to save the tree and care for it in their own garden feels like the most beautiful memorial for such a wonderful soul. Rest in peace Matthew

Mile higher sent me here!! Followed you guys because the collab was amazing and I'm open to having 2 favorite podcasts. You guys are great and deserve more followers:)
Hi friends I’ve been a long time listener & huge fan of mile higher and lights out, now that I’ve seen this beautiful duet with Peyton & Garrett I am here for it & completely smitten by this husband wife team- this is LIFE GOALS! Huge congratulations for this being able to happen!!!
I’m so excited over this collab!! After I had my baby two years ago I started trying to find podcasts to listen to while I was home alone with my son. Mile Higher media was one of the first I found and I’ve listened to pretty much everything they’ve produced across all 4 shows. I then found MWMH from them mentioning y’all a couple months ago. I have really enjoyed your channel, and just yesterday started listening to your Binged series. Y’all are all doing phenomenal and make me want to start a podcast! But I hate being on camera 😬 I’m just a couple years older than you guys, and I feel like I’m hanging out with my friends when I’m listening. You ALL rock!
Hi honey! There’s just a few things I thought I’d point out, firstly that the nightclub you were talking about is pronounced “ark” and the second thing is that when Kendall was saying she’s never heard of people voluntarily taking GHB, in Australia (especially in the lgbt community) it’s actually a very common thing and is liquid ecstasy. Love love love this collab though 💓
This murder is so devastating and my heart truly aches for family and friends of Matthew. It’s also so beautiful that the palm grew from the nutrients from his body and I’m sure his spirit is in that tree. To hear that the parents took the palm tree home is so beautiful, them being able to keep a piece of their son in a way. ❤️
I’ve listened to a lot of cases and geez…this one definitely made me tear up. F that guy Atkins. A part of me feels weirdly thankful the jury didn’t decide on a guilty verdict because Atkins could have continued to keep the whereabouts of their son’s remains a secret to spite or for whatever reason. Just so glad to see the parents get what they wanted in the end even if it didn’t happen exactly the way it was intended.
I come over from the Mile Higher pod as I enjoyed your collaboration with them. I’m from Australia close to Brisbane and was surprised at how well you pronounce many of our words. Some I giggled at, but expected. I had heard from a friend of a friend this horrible man’s name but never knew about his many victims, most importantly Matty.
I know a lot of people say this and they could very well be true with it might not be true but this case made me cry. It really reminds me of the case for Mike Williams. His mother is the cutiest little woman ever and for years and years she fought to find out what happened to her son. She knew something wasn't right and stayed keeping awareness for her son's case. Thankfully, she eventually got answers and they were able to uncover the remains of her son. Matthew's parents reminded me so much of her. The fact that they agreed to that deal and they even let that despicable sack of flesh to USE THE CAR of their son. They just wanted to bring him home no matter what it took. The fact that they kept the palm tree he was found under is what really got me. Such sweet people and my heart really goes out to them.
i was so glad they were able to find his body and bring him home. funerals are an extremely important part of the healing process (my mother passed 2 years ago and her death anniversary was actually yesterday) and not being able to have an official funeral for a decade would’ve ripped me apart each day. so yes, i would say that finding the body is a form of closure. but other than that i am so sorry for matthew’s parents i hope they are able to find peace somehow.
I find it interesting to have two people who also have their computers to do research on questions Payton may not have thought of, like what the park was and stuff like that. I love this collab. It’s crazy that even under immunity that this man wouldn’t tell the truth. You don’t rip out a speaker and put a body in a trunk, and drive out to the middle of a giant park and bury him if it really was an accidental overdose. I wish it would’ve been a requirement for him to register as a sex offender or something, even with the rest of immunity. I agree that his parents are SO strong, and so powerful.
Oh my word this makes me happy. I’ve been healing from a double mastectomy and catching up on both of your podcasts while I’m getting better! And you’re in Colorado which is more fun because I’m here too!
When my dog passed away, we buried her in our back yard and a tree sprouted above her body. We named it the Jetta Tree. Them taking home the palm is truly a beautiful gesture, I truly believe that life continues through it.
Love you guys and Love Josh and Kendall Rae!!! You guys are how I wind down my Monday's after works !!! So pumped that you guys have collabed on this episode!!!
i’m so sorry to this family. I wish them nothing but peace and love. they are the hero’s of their own story. thank you for spreading love and light despite the darkness that monster brought into your life ❤
Just finished watching. I'm an AVID watcher of Mile Higher, True Crime with Kendall Rae, & The Sesh, & I am really looking forward to their episode. I also just want to say think you for talking about cases that effect the LGBTQ+ community. I'm in america so maybe it's different I'm Australia but I can imagine the reason he could get away with these horrible crimes like SA is because he's targeting gay people who may not even be out to their family let alone not believed by law enforcement
local Cronulla guy here. I use to party at ARQ (still do). Matt was a few years older then me and I remember seeing his older bf out and about when I was young. I have always been shocked by this case. I visited Matts grave a few years back with my dad after we watched a 60 minutes episode to pay our respects. I am so happy my miles high podcast and your self is covering this case. I'm extremely saddened for the family that they live with this daily knowing the man that killed Matty is living his life as a free man. I have also seen his mum and dad in the Mardi Gras parade one year and you couldn't ask for a more loving devoted family to our LGBT community. i wish mark and Faye only the best they deserve it more then anyone in my eyes. x
New to the channel! I want to add this in: *Matthew was so amazing and lively that even LIFE itself was attracted to him! That palm tree [coincidentally] planting itself on him speaks volumes of what kind of person Matthew was.*
Menards is a midwest hardware store, popular in Indiana and what not lol. They have a grocery section but it's for home improvement and contractors. Lol
Just a little fun fact, but GHB is also used medicinally for Narcolepsy! I take it every night for this. and a very common experience discussed in the narcolepsy community is that GHB can cause munchies, giddiness, etc if you don’t fall asleep right away on it. It would be very easy to abuse for a euphoric feeling.
I legit have watched/ listened to this episode so many times. The fact that his soul made sure his family found him by have the machine get trapped. To the palm tree growing and giving new life and the family then taking the tree ugh my heart❤
Absolutely loved the collab as Kendall Rae is one of my favs (I just watched the nurse killing her husband with the eye drops before this video…lol) and Garrett…I almost didn’t recognize you. I was like it’s his voice but who is this guy 😂😂. Great job everyone!
Loved this. Watched both episodes , was great collab. The palm tree had me bawling my eyes out. The poor family OMG I duno what I would do if I ever lost one of my children to anything like this. I think my grief would take me... so this family and their strength is just amazing!
This was literally a heartbreaking story i had tears in my eyes to just know his parents never gave up … thank you for an awesome episode !! I came here cause of MHP , you guys def won me over subscribing to your Chanel you guys seem like such a sweet couple !
So glad y’all finally got together! I love seeing you all in one place. Wonderful episode, I’m glad that his parents got some kind of peace and are able to keep a piece of him with them. I hope Michael Atkin does get on a registry and everyone knows to watch out for him.
My daughter’s friend was murdered by two brothers in 2020 and they’re still sitting in jail awaiting trial that keeps getting postponed and they still haven’t given up the location of her body. I watched this girl grow up since she was 6 years old and she lost her life at 17. Hate people like this. RIP ARONDA BRIONESS. fly high angel
I’ll start by saying I never participated… BUT, back in the early 2000s, I had friends who would take GHB (in very small doses) as an alternative to drinking. It has no calories, produced the “drunk” feeling much faster, and they didn’t have hangovers from it. But it’s obviously very easy to take too much.
The video with us on their Channel will be up Wednesday!
Love y’all sm! 💕❤️ so glad you guys made this happen after the dog incident and holly being sick ❤
So awesome! Can’t wait to watch!
Cannot wait!!!!
I’m only at the beginning and y’all seem like an amazing duo so I subscribed. Can’t wait to see both episodes ❤️

Some I giggled at, but expected. I had heard from a friend of a friend this horrible man’s name but never knew about his many victims, most importantly Matty.
Watara Park got me 😂😂
This is amazing!! All 4 of you are awesome! ❤
Mile Higher brought me to MWMH. I’ve been binge watching every since. Even my son says “I’m the husband” and “I love it and I hate it”
Garrets face when you say the pine tree was only five years old and it was a new life is literally all of us felt 😂😅😢
Omg the one colab I’ve been waiting for 😄🙌
I find it interesting to have two people who also have their computers to do research on questions Payton may not have thought of, like what the park was and stuff like that.
Yes! Please keep this up! It would be awesome if this collaboration was permanent! Omg 🤯 mind blowing!!❤❤
OMG 😢I lost it with the palm tree! Thank you for sharing this story! Love this collaboration!💞
My favorite true crime couples!!! Cannot wait to see the mile higher episode!!
By far my fav episode and now I have another hubby and wife to watch! Nice to meet you Peyton and Garrett!
Commenting before even watching the episode😅 I’ve been looking forward to this collaboration! Love listening to all 4 of you!! 💞💞
local Cronulla guy here. I have also seen his mum and dad in the Mardi Gras parade one year and you couldn't ask for a more loving devoted family to our LGBT community. i wish mark and Faye only the best they deserve it more then anyone in my eyes. x
You guys did absolutely amazing on this episode!!! We love you Kendall, Josh, Peyton, and Garrett!! Great team 🥹❤️❤️🎉
Found you guys after watching Mile higher. You both seem so sweet! Glad to have another couple to binge.
New to the channel! I want to add this in:
*Matthew was so amazing and lively that even LIFE itself was attracted to him! That palm tree [coincidentally] planting itself on him speaks volumes of what kind of person Matthew was.*
The palm tree story had me choked up. Omg how beautiful is that!
Menards is a midwest hardware store, popular in Indiana and what not lol. They have a grocery section but it's for home improvement and contractors. Lol
Didn’t know about you before hand only from Kendall’s podcast! So happy i found another couple true crime podcast!! 😊
Peyton, our Menard's actually has a huge grocery section in it, so you've technically kinda been right this whole time!😅 Love you guys!
Me too! It's nice to see them closer to the camera ❤
I was sobbing, thinking about that poor mother, watching them dig up the bones!
So sad, but so glad that Matty’s Palm holds his Spirit of 💕 Love. Thank you!❤❤❤
this collab has been like when two cousins spend the night over each other homes for the weekend lmao
Long time follower of MHP glad to find your podcast through them. ❤
