    Needing to move your septic field a few feet one way or the other isn’t uncommon. I used to be a septic installer. When I did the percolation test at my own property, I literally went from pure clay to gravel in 30ft distance. An above ground field would have been required in the clay, but a standard system required in gravel. About an $8500 price tag difference at the time, and all I had to do was adjust my building plan 30ft

    The reason the ground won't perk where you wanted the septic put is because you packed it during the clearing process. Work it up and leave it loose. It will perk just fine. When you clear the spot, they said, the ground will pack there also.

    It’s amazing how subterranean features change within a short distance. Folks on one side of a small creek have good water with a shallow well 50-100ft, and on the other side need to drill over 200ft to get mediocre water.

    The cattle stay where the food is good. But cattle do unexpected things😆. I'd put a spring on the gate, or get a solar power gate and then even if you forget (like we all do) to chain or latch it, it won't be open because it will close after about 10 seconds, then when moving your cattle just pull the pin from the mover arm and it will push right open. There's some good ones out there, I use ghost control. I have over 20 acres of bare land but I can keep folks out 24/7. You have good material on your channel.

No brainer ask a buddy feel out steps a septic drain field company does and do those inspection steps set grade with care glue it up set level pipe grade wear a go pro proof positive if there's a get your panties in a wad inspector; ask a drain field engineer or journey man septic guy he accepts to come by and just check out your work cover his hard cost hourly fuel 20% profit he makes some bonus bucks for work he doesn't have to do hardly a thing, its a no brainer. @@StoneyRidgeFarmer I agree don't cut down & place septic system where they want you may be able to access local plans submitted to building department that fit your needs see those get those and apply them for your need. It does suck I don't know local codes but talk to local septic drain field company just have them oversee your build; you may or not be able to get permit without approved plans but a guy who excavates drain field will certainly have some sitting around expanding those for your need. 1) you've tipped hand you want house above shop 2) wife & kids also so a 2 or 3 bdrm house 3) occasionally you'll have guest or schools will you import portapotty or use of shops public restroom. ? Enough drain field for those peak situations it may be that Josh you need a bigger holding tank and 50 or 100ft extra drain field. Just do what it takes so your system doesn't get overloaded. If you're big on family or you can forsee grandma grandpa needing to move it. Set up enough for an extra room. Maybe you get a milkshake machine aka a grinder pump to expedite breakdown of blackwater contents into holding tank or drain field. CYA plan ahead. I hear your dad & mom approaching 80's just be prepared you are family relationships guy. You know what elderly people may need are you part of that? I never said cut down trees sir. So long as roof of shop doesn't overload capacity of water drainage system I don't foresee having to move drain field to another location. If it does well there's your answer wrap your head around potential. I do love roof line of BBQ Pavillion it would make for an excellent home cabin roof. Perhaps in one of those other locations. Shop quarters. Private residence in your location live your own dream get others to do the work if possible pay to do work for you. Josh you are a smart guy figure the key to your best farm. Maybe a master plan best location land. You marry & keep your wife & kids the rest it's business. If the moneys right or location is better someplace else, go for it.

    Anything that should be turned off(like water) and anything that should be shut, put a bracelet, on the spigot or latching system, when you open it or turn it on, put the bracelet on your wrist, when you close it or turn it off, put the bracelet back on the spigot or latch. Get home, still have a bracelet on, something isn't turned off or shut. Learned this from the channel Cog Hill Farm. He had left water running several times and one of his viewers turned him on to this very handy, simple, but effective hack. Since you had the bush hog mower on the EV tractor, why not clean up some around the hay bales?

    I'm sure it has to do with the root structure creating open channels for water to run out and just the natural soil structure. You removing those trees and stumps you somewhat altered the soil structure and there is compaction from digging and equipment. That's my theory why the cleared area won't perk. I hear you and agree it's probably the same soil type etc and if the tank n leach field was in the open now vs where you clear in the woods in the real world you would see no difference in performance, but their testers or test method said otherwise . Rules and folks without common sense for real world applications. Also years of people not doing the right thing folks get penalized

    Driving a free tractor on solar electric? Win/win. Go for it. It's a tool, not a statement.

    Thank you Josh. I used your SRF link to buy a product you recommended a couple years ago and the product is amazing. It's the retractable water hose mounted at your front door. I have used this thing several times a week for a couple years and it has worked great. Several of my friends now have one or two. Thanks again

    Why even participate in the EV stuff? I can see it if your were an urban/suburban commuter or resident, but on a farm or for other heavy equipment I don’t see the logic in it

      Why have a Milwaukee or DeWalt drill brother? Why have a cell phone? Laptop? Electric equipment has been used for decades in mines, greenhouses, warehouses and numerous other applications....it's only now that we have this crazy political atmosphere in our country that folks literally "hate" it. My brother, we probably share the same political beliefs and we probably share the same ideals about America...but when every decision we make is based on politics....we cheat ourselves out of our own freedoms. If I can run an electric piece of equipment, charge it via solar and not pay for any fuel...it's a no brainer. I thing technology has a long way to go....and I'd love to see some hydrogen technology replace these batteries....but for now, I'm feeding the cows and burning no fuel, electricity or $$$ ...I think that's pretty awesome. I think the biggest turn off to electric machines and vehicles is this insane idea that they're gonna force us to do it. Petroleum is literally the second most prevalent liquid on earth next to water...so I'm told....so what do we do? Put down our cordless drill? Cell phone? Or do we evolve with time and have the freedom to choose. My editor has a Tesla, he works as an IT guy for our local county and drives a couple hundred miles a day.....he's had it 3 years now and probably saved over $3k on fuel, it's fun, safe and scary fast!! I don't want it shoved down my throat, but I do think that technology is changing...remember the first cars ever built were electric. Hope this clarifies my position...I'm not selling it...this is just my belief. Don't force me to go electric, but if I choose it, then let me have that freedom...especially if I can charge via solar and have no impact on the grid

      I'm not necessarily afraid of electric vehicles. I just don't believe that the support system is there. Also, I know that Josh's is on loan. For a small acreage owner, I cannot afford or justify two tractors. I have an approximately 50 hp general purpose with front end loader that does just about all that I need it to do. It is a non emissions diesel.

      @seancasey2444 When I just had it. I had a very hard time breathing. As I said. When I took the four and told my son, I hope this works. I wasn't joking. I was really bad. Today. Normal. Yet. I have been doing this for years. Each year. I get over it faster. Same with colds. I took the for from getthetea on an empty stomach. Works faster. Yet. I drank my tea. When I breathe. I could hear popping with every breath. I should have gone to the hospital. I took this route instead.

    The reason for putting the new septic in the woods is because you have installed a well up hill at the pavilion, so your state might be different but where I live in Pennsylvania need to be 100 ft away, or you have to a waiver for it being closer to drain field

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the well is still 200 ft or more from the septic......it's just silly that they're forcing me to clear more trees or build it in the darn woods...they did the same thing at the mobile home septic system

    Today I left the barn door open when I went to pick up my tractor for service. A real senior moment. Luckily nothing was bothered or taken. I don't mind the idea of the electric tractor. BUT the PTO mistake is huge on that one. The PTO speed should be independent of ground speed. Real miss there.

    I must be missing something with the septic. For me, in my neck of the woods, a double chambered septic tank with a liquid pump out through an above ground jet system in the woods would be acceptable (this is the system I have). It would mean not having to remove the trees and you would still have access to remove the solids once a year. I can only assume you are being forced into the use of the hateful septic fields. Perhaps you cover in another video I have not watched yet. Cattle look good.
