That was amazing, good to see a Soviet survivor. I could see the slight differences with the US version. Many thanks. When you were walking out to the plane, behind the parked MiG fighter near the terminal was the forward cockpit of what appeared to be another Li-2.
The Li-2 were built under licence as said. However, there are some change. A big one was the conservion of the size. As far as I am aware, the USA built one's (C-47/DC-3) were built using Imperial measurements (Feet and inches), however the Russian built LI-2 were built to Metric measurements, so there will be differences in sizes, etc and possibly engines.
You are a very lucky guy, amazing trip. The old terminal building looks very much like the Bee Hive building at London Gatwick which was the original terminal and still standing very close to the modern LGW
Very nice video! The aircraft appears to be in good condition. Look at the special rectangular windows. At the end, the pilot(or guide) said that sometimes they fly to other destinations, and thanked the passengers for their support and hoped the passengers enjoyed the flight. I think that (relatively high) ticket price might keep the machine alive.
Those biplanes are Antonov AN-2 which started service after WWII & some believe they built before then. They stopped manufacturing the AN-2 in 2001 so I believe it is longest manufactured plane in the world.
Excellent video. An airplane I dream of flying on and you allowed me to do it through your video. Thank you.
Cool interesting video very laid back airfield set up 👍

Simon, very right. More rare than aircraft are classic Terminal Buildings!

Very interesting - "double-deckers" are usually called biplanes, by the way.

And the entrante was on the rhs not the lhs in a DC3
Presumably all the Japanese built DC2/3s? were lost?
How much did it cost?
