Abstract:
The Xiongnu is considered to be the first nomadic empire. This empire, which is believed to have been founded 2,230 years ago, was a ready-made model for other later nomadic states, including Mongol Empire. However, it is clear that this structure, which can be said to be perfect, did not come into being in a desert, so the roots need to be investigated. In recent years, archaeologists have been talking a lot about the quasi empire based on the culture of the Khirgisuur-Deer Stone culture of the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages. An important task is to determine the traditions and characteristics of the Xiongnu Empire in comparison with the Khirgisuur Empire.
On the other hand, the Xiongnu tradition, including the role of the Mongols in their origins, remains a hot topic of research. Recent advances in genetic research have made it possible to address this issue based on solid evidence. The second part of the lecture will discuss the ethnic relationship between the Xiongnu and the Mongols.
Bio:
Tsagaan Turbat is the head of the Bronze and Iron Age Research Department at the Institute of Archeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, and the chairman of the Mongolian Archaeologists Association. He graduated from the National University of Mongolia in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in history and historical writing studies. In 2000, he received a master’s degree in history and archeology from the National University of Mongolia, and in 2004 he received a doctorate (Ph.D.) in “Funeral rites of ordinary Xiongnu people.” In 2016, he became a professor. He speaks Russian, French and English. Dr. Turbat is a member of the editorial board of 6 Mongolian and foreign scientific journals. He has been working in the field of archeological research from the Bronze and Early Iron Ages to the Xiongnu and ancient times for 25 years. He has published 23 monographs and co-works, 126 articles and published reports, and 505 catalog and dictionary articles. His Google scholar citation is 623 with the h-index of 14.

Гэвч төгс төгөлдөр гэж хэлж болохоор энэхүү бүтэц эзгүй хоосон газарт үүсээгүй нь ойлгомжтой тул уг үндэсийг нь сурвалжлан хөөх хэрэгтэй. Сүүлийн жилүүдэд археологчдын хүрээнд хүрлийн эцэс, төмрийн түрүү үеийн Хиргисүүр буган хөшөөний соёлын байгуулсан эзэнт улсын тухай ихэд хэлцэгдэх болсон. Хүннүгийн эзэнт гүрнийг энэхүү Хиргисүүрийн гүрэнтэй харьцуулан уламжлал ба шинж чанарыг тодорхойлох чухал зорилт тавигдаад байна.
