    enjoyed watching your video, you get days like those, then you get days when it just happens, that's why we love it, Bass on the fly. Tight lines

      @@thereel7071 It does get better, I have been fishing in and around Chichester harbour for a few years and still learning, there are so many factors, tide, wind, pressure, bait fish and luck. Keep going, enjoy it good luck, tight lines

      I was out off hayling island this morning (Chichester side) bumped into a chap and got some good tips! I know where that is in the video but I won’t publicly disclose 😂 thanks for the video!

      @@thereel7071 funny enough I was on the stretch of beach they were going to however I had to be in petersfield for 9am so unfortunately didn’t see them, that would’ve been amazing though! We should go fishing sometime? Hayling has lots of spots weather permitting of-course

    So good, a really nice accurate reflection of what it takes to catch on the fly! Keep it up

    Awesome video. All about the journey! It’s hard when switching from nymphing to streamers to strip strike as opposed to trout set. I lost so many hook ups when I started salt water fishing again after a spell bothering trout

    • @thereel7071
      @thereel7071  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man 😊 yeh it’s hard to change that reflex! If I’d kept stripping on that one I missed on the surface fly it might have hit it again 😩

    I enjoyed watching this and was willing you to have a bass stay on your fly right to the net, I have been fishing for bass on the fly in chichester harbour and also on open beaches for the last 30 years... sometimes you have good days and some days it is just frustrating ( but both the harbour and the beaches fish well at the right times ) for me, my favourite is open beaches wading at low tide from just before first light, the results can be well worth the effort with amount and size of bass that we get. good luck with your saltwater fly journey.

    • @thereel7071
      @thereel7071  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks 😄 I’ve had the worst luck this year with fish getting off the hook, not just bass, so I was really happy when I got that one in! I’ve only fished open beaches a couple of times so far but it’s definitely an environment I want to explore more, I’ve made it as far as Hayling Island but Chichester Harbour is definitely on my list of places to explore. At the moment I tend to fish when my kids are asleep so I can fish more frequently, so tend to stick to places that are closer to home. Tight lines!

    Great vid buddy, inspiring 😊chuffed for you getting your first bass on fly💪🏻 I have done a fair bit of fly fishing for trout, but it would be cool if you could show the fly you are using for all like me who are not overly familiar with the saltwater patterns…but keep doing what your doing & best of luck for bass number 2,3,4……🙂👍

      Thanks man 🙏 the net is a Savage Gear Pro Finezze in the large size, it floats which will be super handy for wading. I got mine here - www.fishingmegastore.com/landing-nets-folding-nets-mesh-nets/savage-gear-pro-finezze-rubber-mesh-net-floating~28976.html
      You’re not the first to ask about it, Savage Gear will have to start paying me commissions 🤣

      @@miguelramonquintanasanjose9071 to be honest the only fly ive hooked mullet on is a flexi worm, and the only one ive landed was on a bread fly. If you Google ‘Selectafly Mullet Flies’ they do a range of ones that have been proven to work 👍

    • @thereel7071
      @thereel7071  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries, thank you 🙏 For bass I use a 9ft 8 weight fly rod, I’d also recommend looking at fly lines designed to cast bigger flies, the line I am using in this video is an Airflo Forge and while not specifically designed for big flies it casts them well and is a bit cheaper 😉 Tight lines!
