Thank you so much for making longer SLR videos. I live alone, and making your videos longer helps me feel like I'm part of your family. God bless you all.
Hahaha, so cute watching Lady squeeze through that gate...oops! Great solution with the block though! Your temporarily permanent gates look much more functional than before. I've heard great things about Elderberry syrup too. So thoughtful of you to pay it forward with making a large batch to pass out.
I just purchased an elderberry tree from Fedco Trees. It probably won't be mature before I buy land in AR, but that is okay. The new owners of this house will love it. It also makes great Jams, and wine.
Love that woodpecker in the beginning. We have a lot of those around here. We also have the big Pileated woodpeckers here. They are much larger and have a much slower pecking speed but are just as beautiful. Thanks for sharing your lives with us. Love you all.
Hi Mel & Gary!! This is an awesome video from start to end. From the woodpecker to the elderberry syrup. Oh and let’s not forget all that back-breaking work. My back was aching with yours lol. Thanks for explaining the water glassing for the eggs I think I understand it now. Have a safe but fun trip enjoy the wedding and I’m so glad you get to spend time with Gary’s family for a while. 💜
You have some good medicinal stuff in there, cinnamon and ginger are good for the gut, and stomach, if you're having belly pain, and honey is a great antibacterial meds, if you're out in the wild and get a cut you can put honey on it to kill any bacteria, if you have a sore throat you can drink a tbsp or so if honey to kill any bacteria in your throat. Not to mention the elderberries themselves.
I love the music and watching y’all work and oh my goodness that Mountain View in the background is breathtaking! But there is one thing I am scared about, putting a tarp over bags of cement is something I have been through and it was heartbreaking when just a little bit of moisture got to it and destroyed it overnight, I cried and didn’t know how I would replace it, it’s something that traumatized me forever. So please be careful and don’t loose all that good stuff and money. It really needs to be stored in a very dry / no moisture ever environment to keep it fresh.
You may want to weave some rebar through a couple squares of the fence and then bury it into the dirt by the patio, so Lady doesn't get out between the cement slab and the fence. I hope you all have a fun and safe trip. X's &
Ah the good old Portland cement, or clinker as it was originally known and invented on the lovely shores of Dorset in the U.K. from a mix of gypsum and limestone and called Portland as it resembled Portland stone from the isle of Portland in the good old U.K. Invented by Joseph Aspdin who was a brickie
Great temp fence 👌... Holy Cow that's a ton of concrete 😳 👍... Thanks for the reminder about water glassing. I was just trying to remember what to add to the water before watching this 👍❤❤❤
We use elderberry every day. We definitely noticed that our colds are not as severe when they run through our household. We started early 2019. Huge difference for us.
@@his4evr2c I buy them in gummies form. So one a day. 2 a day if sick. But in syrup form from the bottles they say every 4 hours, I think 20ml. Kids is 10ml, but if they get sick, I switch them to the syrup.
Love Love Love your openings to your videos!!!❤❤❤ Also when you go for walks with picture picture. Along with seeing the scenery while you drive. I live in a flat part of Michigan so to see your mountains and hills is just beautiful!❤❤❤
nothing like a little cement to wake up your back;;;and everything else;;;;lol;;;feel for ya;;;ha should hollered at the dreamer of the drifters to come help he be an expert as he's already nad a similar situation;;;;anyway y'all got your exercise for sure today;;;good ole 'David;;;overworked and underpaid but still going at it hard;;;;glad to see the fence working out and don't go get anymore cement for a few days;;;lol;;;thumbs up and keep em comin
Just wanted to say thank you for continuing to talk to us your viewers/subscribers while doing your video. It puts your videos on a more personal note. Like your including us as if we were standing right there with you. I love this format!!
You should figure out a way to put the small gate next to the first gate you did in this video. Do it in a way to open the larger gate, or the smaller gate or both depending on your need.
Another great video as always. Reminded me of my great grandmother and later mother making elderberry syrup when I was a kid. We weren't aware of any medicinal properties, just that it tasted good. Mom would fill her canning kettle with elderberries, stems and all. Boil them up and then strain them using an old pillowcase hung on the broomstick suspended between two kitchen chairs facing back to back. It drained most of the day into her big blue roaster. She then cooked it up with sugar to make syrup and canned it. Tasted so good on pancakes in the middle of winter. Elderberries grow wild like weeks in the low lying areas here in NE Wisconsin. I hope it helps with your health woes.
To make your egg collection easier get some used cardboard egg crates and build a simple tray box to hold them in. It will make the picking up a lot easier. For the bunnies, just run a tube to each of the water dispensers and connect the other end to a storage tank on the roof with a butterfly valve. The tubes are inserted into the top of each dispenser. One turn of the valve and they all fill up at once via gravity. I'm presuming you are adding vitamin powder to the water?
Hi Mel and Gary, love your pond area, beautiful a place to relax and unwind. Your place is coming together nice, everything looks really good. Love your life style and journey. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
I live in Oz and the garden is getting overgrown with elderberries. (I don't trim as often as I should.) We have eaten the flowers in a pancake mix - yum... and I harvest the berries when they get black. I make tea if I have a cold and put it in a thermal mug and sip it all day, I find it most beneficial. There is a lot of info on Google re processing. The trees do send out runners so should be planted in their own area.
🫶 we have had part of our fence temporarily up for years now. It’s still up and we have decorated it with some STUFF ie license plates 😅. Have a great day.
Just some soothing music played over your land, and the beautiful work you've done is literally all I need. It's so beautiful, and I've loved following your journey 💚
Thanks for sharing the recipe with us. My son has gotten covid three different times so this will definitely help him. By the way 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoons. Something to keep for reference.❤. Have a safe and happy trip😊
You all rocked it today. A lot of unloading cement bags . Hope u Mel & Gary did not hurt your back and David I worry about your elbow and hand/wrist. Great video Mel and can you print the receipt on ur video.? please!. I was unable to write it down. Have a safe trip and GOD BLESS & KEEP YOU SAFE!!! ❤
Hi Gary, just an early comment as I just started watching. It looks like you need a rectangular funnel to fill the rabbit feed boxes. If you have some off cuts of rectangular down pipe you could easily make one. Love these every day vids, just doing what needs to be done. Thanks for sharing.
It’s better beautiful video. I love it entertaining a lot of the stuff we need to plan about it but thank you for the video very good content and I’m enjoying it and I love you guys.
On the gate, solid job. Two thoughts, where Lady first escaped, cut the concrete that bleed under the stop form. Back on the retaining wal, you could use tapcon screws and a cut down tee post, or a 2x4 with concrete fastener screws
The gates do work and look a lot better, now Gary. You'll love that Elderberry, Mel, my ex late mother-in-law , used to make Elderberry Jellie, sure was good.Sending my love and God's blessings to you all, Keep on Smiling and Keep the FAITH.Wanda In N E Cornerof Ok , Bartlesville.,Ok
Hey Mel and Gary. Awesome live show last night. Just wanted to help Mel out on how to pronounce Mark Knopfler’s last name. The K and P are silent so it would be pronounced “Nofler”. You made me chuckle a little bit last night. If you’re not sure who he is, he was the lead singer/guitarist for Dire Straits but still makes great music. Loved this video and as always, you guys are doing a great job with the family and homestead.
Hey Gary and Mel, place is coming together. I've missed a vlog or two but I'll get caught up. Shame on me, I know lol. I wanted to let you know if you don't already that they make brackets for the t post braces that would be easier than all that wire tying. But hey, if it works it works right! I didn't know about the brackets until I watched another channel that uses them. I hope your trip goes well and you have a wonderful time.
True but not made with Love and the chemicals ugh. Wally world gets most of its items from China. So sad. I got a popular name brand shampoo 🧴 combo conditioner all the chemicals on the back ugh. There's a newbie makes essential oil with coconut 🥥 oil I think it's call scentible.bars of Soap 🧼 I am thinking about ordering 1. It's just me For My #2 Son has his own manly brand. I am too sensitive skinned to share with him. Which is as it should be. Sweet gal made soap because she too has bad allergens . As a Natural Redhead I am sensitive naturally too ugh 😢
It is amazing what you too have done in 3 years with this property. Im very happy for you all. Ant and rox as well. Keep up the hard ŵk guuys.. P.s. take care of thows Dogs..haha..jk..wee know you fo above and beyond..people dont understand that when your on mission you need to get err done..play time comes later..
What a beautiful vlog Mel. The gates look good and should do the job nicely. All your animals look so content and well taken care of. So glad you made the elderberry syrup. I hope you enjoy it and that it helps build up your immune system. ❤❤❤
Lynda you are so kind and generous to share your knowledge and those items with us! Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Now I get to share with our west coast family too! Blessings abundant!
GATES; hopefully the dogs won't learn to lift the latch with their nose, we've used a choker size chain with snap and small chain connecter length as safety, also could drill hole in latch to hook a short bungee chord to tension down
Your and CRC latest episode got a quality upgrade. Congrats on that. Really good. You can also make elderberry sirope from the blossoms. Which is what we use in case of cold/any other bactyvir-animals that can hit you.
I've been talking about you and Gary all week to guys that's been here for a week trying to fix two sliding doors like you both put up in no time at all.I told time to get in touch with Gary when he never went to school on these things and he's an expert om all things even the house you build . By this afternoon I told them it's time for me to call him,etc LOL! Yet one of the guys said he watches you.also.They were working on two sliding doors on the front of the nursing home here.
Hello I love your show and what you’re doing with building your home . I was wondering if your well kept bunnies spend time outside their cages basking in the sun and running around? Do. They gave an enclosed space for the above sometimes? I’m not criticising the cages that they live in just wondering if they have that option to explore outside of their hutches 😊
ELDER BERRIES : we found to harvest, lop off the entire clusters of berries, and place in plastic groceries bag, then place in freezer, once frozen, empty bags into large deep pan, with hands quickly shake the frozen clusters to separate the berries from the stems, PICK OUT THE STEMS FROM THE BERRIES, if the berries start to thaw, place pan of clusters in freezer, continue until stems are removed, the very fine stems will easily cook down with the berries. Once the berries are frozen, you really don't want them to thaw until your ready to process them for use.
The concrete company makes those concrete bags wayyyy to heavy, (I think you said 92 pounds each in the livestream). They really should make them smaller for healthier lifting. Gates 2.0 are a big upgrade.
Thank you so much for making longer SLR videos. I live alone, and making your videos longer helps me feel like I'm part of your family. God bless you all.

My husband passed away 3 years ago but he always took elderberry syrup when he had a cold. He was a firm believer in it. I say go for it!

I love seeing the kitty 🐈⬛ sitting in the window ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

HELLO 🤗 The scenery on your walk is beautiful 😉 Boy, you two got alot done- exciting going on a trip to see family & friends 😊
I learned something new from you today. I didn’t know they made gate mounting brackets for tposts!!! 😁😁😁
Have a wonderful trip and blessed time with family.

Have fun and be safe!!!😊🎉❤
Gary you need to build some nesting boxes! Or get some five gallon buckets and stack them together 🥰
I’m super impressed with Mel’s super duper girl power….she moved those cement bags like they were a sac of potatoes. 😂😂😂
Great temp fence 👌... Holy Cow that's a ton of concrete 😳 👍... Thanks for the reminder about water glassing. I was just trying to remember what to add to the water before watching this 👍❤❤❤

You have some beautiful yard dogs. I’m sure they will guard the property well while you’re gone.
Wow that was over 4 tons of Portland. That is a ton of work.
Watching someone else work hard is so satisfying
You need to get actually fence post to keep the gate working properly.
GO FRAM GO❤❤❤❤
REST THOSE BACKS UP ANNAMAY❤❤❤❤
Gate looks great! Great deals on the cement! 😊❤
You can grow elderberries. You will need a bird net to keep the birds from stealing the berries.
Great video guys the gates will help when ur gone have fun and enjoy ur holiday❤️🇨🇦

A lot was going on in this video. I can't imagine moving all those bags of concrete. You guys are beasts. (in a good way)
I can see you guys raising a couple of feeder pigs for the freezer ,they'd go nuts over acorns in the woods
On the gate, solid job.

Gary put a bag of concrete in the holes they dug at the gate

Yummy thanks for recipe mel,wow!!
It’s coming along 😊 .
I take elderberry’s everyday ! I love the taste
We paid someone to put up a chainlink fence. Our little dog Maggie got out in about 30 minutes. She came to the front door and scratched lol
Made some syrup this year from elderberries growing in my yard.
I know your whole basement smells so good! Well worth the purple hands too. Huh Mel?! lol Great job you both did. Hugs from Bonnie 🤗🤗❤
YARD GATES: can you make a good conduit work as a frame, the old cattle gates we had up here was pipe, and woven wire home made gates
A very sweet video....hugs
Love the Video& Gary's shirt on the last part!
