I want to hike up to the top of Table Rock... Good to see Bear!!! Lunch looked good too. I think the P51 was originally used by the mess hall cooks who had to open more, and bigger cans. I’m sure you’ll find a good use for that stove! 👍🏻
That’s correct Chris. The P 51 was for the large cans. I got some large Esbit tabs I’m gonna try in the stove. I think that’s what it was designed for. The marketing on Amazon said alcohol so that’s what I went with this time. Thanks for watching Chris!!
I use my dad's P38 all the time.. Have a couple of the knock offs but they aren't near as well ... Nothing like a good can of 'Mystery Meat' to spice up your day...lol
A very interesting stove. I personally don't care for that type of opener. I much prefer the can opener on my SAK. Or like you demonstrated, pull tops!👍🏻😎 That looks like a very pretty park. Glad to see Bear also.
That’s awesome! Tell her I’m glad she enjoyed it! And thank you for going!! I don’t take lightly the sacrifice people make on behalf of others. Thank you!
Hey , I just appreciate you answering me. TH-cam might not let Big Potatoes like you talk to little potatoes like me. 😂 Thanks, I really appreciate your help.
@@MIKESWILDWORLD haahaaa , haa I'm no big tater , not at all, I try to get back to every single comment, if I dont ,I just flat missed it Mike ! We all appreciate you and your awesome channel!!!!
Oh I bet you have a lot of firsts in your life. Like, first time that hurt. First time that didn’t! First time you saw that! First time you wished you hadn’t! First time you ate that! First time you where sorry you did! LOL. 😂😂😂
Thank you Master Bear of the Journey! I’m watching STAR WARS! Thank you for hanging out with me. Hope your family enjoyed the video. Make plans for a Spring TH-cam meetup down this way.
I'm pretty sure the stove was not designed to be used with denatured alcohol or similar, but made for gel alcohol like Swiss Fire Gel. Try that and you may like it better
Mike, I done did some research and… The P stands for Puncture and the 38 is indeed how many times its supposed to take to open a real (1942 era) C-Ration can, not a cat food can 😆 (the hole is so you can dip it in boiling water to sterilize it) Using that formula however, why is its big brother called the P51? You’d think that since it’s substantially larger, it would be called the P29 🤷♂️
Alan so glad you looked that up. Interesting stories behind all those little openers. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a real C-Ration. I was supposed to say some cool stuff about the P 38 but I distracted myself. 😀
I watched while cooking up my breakfast…. Well breakfast lunch 🤭 Interesting stove but man fuel usage…. Gotta get the most out of it 😉 I have always had a knock off trangia and just got a Trangia because I love cooking with alcohol so interested to see if there is a difference between the knock off as well as fuel consumption in my other alcohol burners. Good to see Bear with ya 👍🏻 Sending ya Best Wishes for this Crazy holiday season to enjoy to the Maximus buddy and looking forward to seeing ya in 2024 Lord Willing 🙏🏻❤️🔥🙏🏻🤟🏻
Thank you Miss Donna! Hope you enjoyed some of that scenery. I usually talk to much in these things, but I do love a good tech conversation. I am tired of the cold weather already! Oh well!

Watched this again with Mama Bear last night. You gave her a few good chuckles.

The old P38s are a lot better than the new, larger ones.
Those made by Coghlan just don’t hold up. But they work for a little while.
Thanks for watching!
Hey Mike, nice video, the stove looks really good as well. Table Rock is my favorite park in the great state of SC! Take care.
Thanks! It was beautiful up there! Thanks for watching!
Strange, I'm not getting your notifications Mike 😅
