I just adore Beth. I started this video thinking I'd watch 10-15 mins then finish it later, but wound up watching the whole thing in one sitting. She's so smart & insightful & interesting.
Beth feels like a friend. I could relate to her experiences so much, like receiving angry criticism that comes from a place of hurt and responds to kindness. I could also relate to her "broken picker" and needing to remember herself after traumatic relationships. I love that the two of you are living with the same comedic metaphor right now; her bits are great. I love the title of this episode. Thank you for a refreshing conversation. I'm a field hockey player, too. I haven't played since college and really miss it. I need to get back to myself after a divorce. Maybe I'll take a page out of her book and pick up field hockey again now. Best of luck on the field and on stage, Beth! ❤
I’ve seen both Mike and Beth LIVE (Detroit & Chicago) and yes, it feels just like you’re hanging out listening to a friend talking. Of course I’ve seen their filmed specials and I can’t believe how lucky we are to get a glimpse like this behind the scenes, seeing how the bagels are made. Of course, I’m writing this eight months after the interview, so from their perspective, they have no idea about the wonderful shakeup in the presidential race, that Australian break dancer, or that the aliens finally said “hi.” Shhh… don’t tell ‘em; we wanna see how they react!!
Just finished watching Handsome podcast where Tig mentioned the movie “Sleep Walk With Me” and now I’m here for the first time where I see the movie poster on the wall. Going to watch that next!
I'm so used to listening to this podcast only (it's my favourite podcast!!) but I just love watching these interviews! Keep posting more to youtube! Also happy holidays and a merry christmas parmesan!
This was great! Why so many cuts though? Let it be as long as possible, and include everything (unless she asked you to specifically edit things out). Follow Pete Holmes' You Made it Weird template and just keep it all in! We love it all!!
Beth I'm 44 and I've come to realize, I'm all out of eventually and somday's. It hit me like a truck but its so damn important. Good luck in Argentina.
I was shocked to find out Beth is from Dayton. I don't see the midwest. And that's before we get into the difference between rust belt and Midwestern. I would have guessed PNW, though I never thought about it. And I'm from Columbus originally so I'm not throwing shade. Ironically I've always seen a bit of myself in Beth's comedy.
Thanks for having Beth on, she's lovely.
I could listen to Mike and Beth (❤) yak it up for way longer than 43 minutes. Two of my favorites.

The Birbiglia snort. Kills me every time.

I could listen to Beth talk for hours! What a great interview... but way too short.
How can you not love Beth Stelling 🫶🏽 she’s the best, thanks Mike 💯
Beth is so funny and has such a calm and soothing presence about her. Great episode.

She should write a book so she can be best selling author Beth Stelling
Field Hockey superstar AND best selling author Elizabeth Stelling.
Or if her dad wrote a book: best selling author Beth Stelling's father.
That wouldn't be kind to book sellers who have a lisp.
love the podcast!! please try to get Mulaney back for another episode 😃😃
"I've never been 22." I felt that one.
Excellent conversation.
shes so great, been a fan for a while. loved the episode.
Beautiful tender vibe between these 2. I was not aware of Beth before this episode, she somehow feels like an old friend
Thinking back to you guys playing Portland! Such an epic duo.
Subbed after the Netflix special. All around great show but that finish was the BEST ever.

I like hard boiled eggs especially as a deviled egg. Yum!

Go up the field and score! Good advice.
That was lovely.
Notice the cut at 2:28? Birbigs asks who’s faking it in comedy, Beth told the truth.
Is that the right timestamp?
She has a Mary Tyler Moore vibe. How cool would it be if they reimagined that show with Beth Stelling!
Dayton! Okay need to find that show now…

Beth's best joke was when she worked at Panera freshman year of college and she was too fat for her coat. We've ALL been there.
Second… wait…
Second... wait...
“This isn’t a meeting” made me laugh out loud. The only time I did this on the pod cast. I wanted you to know.
Mike totally reads Midwest! (Mpls. boy here). Throw in a "wicked" now and again?
