    I read Alzheimer's is expected to skyrocket in the next two decades. I don't think there are any of us who don't know at least one individual afflicted by this terminal illness. While tremendously sad I am grateful for movies such as this that draw attention to a disease that is horribly underfunded and due to such straits, under-researched. It is not discriminatory. Every one of us is susceptible. Praying every day for a miracle.

      Robinl1278 You can read a lot of bs , so be careful with that. Many scientist have theories that never come true. For example , in the beginning of the 1900's many scientists were convinced that by 1950 the population will starve, that there will be no more food. Quite far from what happened. So focus on the present and on what you have control upon. There are always "theories" , but so many of them never come true...

      Read the work of Dr Bredesen, Dr David Perlmutter, Dr Georgia Ede and Dr Chris Palmer. Our diet is at least a huge contributing factor in dementia.
      Learn how Type 2 diabetes and high BMI are associated. The work on the genetic component of APOe alleles is hopeful.
      We don’t have a cure, but we can potentially prevent or delay onset. 🙏

    It’s practically a mental version of ‘Titanic’
    She’s sharp minded, but gradually loses memories, situational processing ability and finally loses track of anything going on as it happens.
    It’s a very good, but mentally tragic, quietly-horrific masterpiece.

      Two years later, my mother has the same. First week in a care facility because we can't care for her as much as she needs. The mourning for someone who is still here is almost too much. Her 50 year old self wouldn't want this and there's nothing we can do.

    I pray as I get older I don't get this disease. Both my Mom & my Grandmother had it. Grandma got it in her 70's but Mom got early onset when she was 55. I want to watch this movie to see what it's like on the inside looking out since I've seen it from the outside in.

    Julianne moore is so beautiful. She is my idol. I wanna to be like her. She was so beautiful when she was young and her face and her beauty don't change at all. This is so amazing and so lucky. There are so many people who were so beautiful and become unrecognizble when they were old.

    To anyone that hasn't watched this movie or read this book, do it. Yes, it's a bit slow but in a savory sort of way. It's a fascinating and very real look at Alzheimers. In my humble opinion this is Julianne Moore's best work as an actor.

    My Mom had it and passed in 2005 .Cause of death was described as as a bladder infection. Meaning as a person suffering from Alzhiemers ( saddest most heart wrenching disease there is) are susceptible to any non threatening disease around ten times more than a healthy person causing thier deteriorating to speed up until thier imminent death. Fortunately she only had to suffer 5 months with this awful disease. A lovely little fireball full of life fated with this terminal disease. I love you Mom!

    This disease is one that I would never wish upon anyone and I have not experienced it personally. I have my own neurological disease though so I understand the blanking out but it’s nothing like Alzheimer’s although it could turn into it. My aunt, her mom, had it and I know it was so bad for her

    My self, three children and Ex Husband went out to dinner just before Christmas. My Son had his then, fiancée there as well. Three weeks later each of my Sons called to tell me their Dad lost his balance and fell. I immediately called him, and he told me it was diagnosed as a sinus infection. It wasn’t. Exactly Fourteen months later he was gone. Taken by a Glioblastoma. It’s a unstoppable beast that robs you of everything you are in every way possible. Someone should make a movie about that.

    They tell us that if we keep our brains active by learning new things that this will safe guard us against brain disease. This film teaches us that that is a waste of time as she was a brilliant intellectual who was always challenging her brain to learn new things. This film is obviously poking fun at that theory.

    • @mojave19
      @mojave19 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      adanoid We’ve come a long way from the “just exercise your brain” remedy for Alz disease. See the Ted Talk that the author of Just Alice did (she is also a neuroscientist). No cure yet, but never skimp on deep sleep (for now on, my brain health trumps my career demands) and build cognitive reserves-see how this means way more than being intellectual.
