  • Quick (and very rough) video showing how to remove rear wheel on the HX X9 electric scooter.
You will require: 3mm hex keys, a small phillips screwdriver and an adjustable spanner.
    1. Remove the plastic fenders located each side of the scooter. There are two, 3mm hex screws located behind the reflective strips - so you will first need to peel off the reflective strips using a knife. Carefully store the strips so they can be re-applied.
    2. Once the plastic fenders have been removed you then have access to the rear wheel axle. Using a 3mm hex key remove the two small screws that screw into the mounting plate. Repeat on the other side of the scooter.
    3. On the right hand side of the scooter there are also two small phillips screws that secure a plastic cable tidy (for the motor cable) to the side of the scooter. Remove the screws and also the plastic guide.
    4. Remove the axle nuts from each side of the scooter using an adjustable spanner.
    5. You can now remove the wheel/motor. It’s best if the scooter is lying on its right hand side when you remove so as to give maximum amount of free space from the motor cable.
    6. Once removed you can remove the tyre using long handled tyre levers.
Reassembly is the reverse process. A few tips:-
    1. First of all add the two plates to the axle.
    2. Note that the plates will need to align with the holes for the two screws - if you can’t get them to align then turn the plate over and re-fit.
    3. The wheel/motor axle has a groove in it, this needs to align with the slot in the scooter.
    4. When re-fitting the wheel/motor note that the disc rotor needs to fit between the brake pads in the brake calliper, it’s easier if the scooter is on its right hand side. So you can see what you’re doing.
    5. When tightening up the nuts and screws tighten each side a little at a time - then do the same on the other side - then repeat until fully tight. Don’t fully tighten one side and then fully tighten the other.
    5. When re-fitting the plastic cable guide first make sure it’s in position by making sure the 2 pins are secure in the 2 holes, then screws in the screws.
    6. Once everything is back together you may need to adjust the brake calliper slightly if there is rub from the disc rotor.
As the X9 is a tubeless setup it requires a tight seal between the tyre and the wheel to keep the air in. In order to achieve a seal the tyre needs to “pop" on to the rim, this can be achieved with a bicycle compressor style pump used for tubeless setups or a high pressure compressor.
