and instead of fighting each other during the 20th century humanity realised how feeble our existence is

Actually, if Russian Civil War started earlier, the WWI might not break out or it could instead see fall of France on the Western front. Germany was doing some advances as per Schlieffen plan, but Russian second front detracted from their resources too much and it brought them to a halt.

That is only shows how little of history you know. Let me enlighten you about that: Civil war happens because government was overtaken by Lenin. Lenin did this, because German send him to Russia. German send him to Russia, because they struggled in eastern front. They struggled in eastern front, because they underestimate their plans. They have plans, because they started the war. They started the war, because they wanted a new colonial land for prosperity, like GB or France. Also all of the main sides was in delusion about short-time war, not a 4 year bloody hell. It's oversimplified, but all this happened thanks to such a chain of interconnected events.

In that map, they give North(all the way west to Idaho-ish), Great lakes states as well as North East and half of east coast to Britain/Canada, West coast and western half of midwest to Japan, Southwest from California up to Texas to Mexico, and the south to "Independent n****r state", with only the middle of the US itself staying the US.

I don’t understand why they would use Canada as a comparison. I have seen a similar map used to compare China and the USA, which makes sense, since the USA supported independents for Tibet and others. But here Canada supports Ukrainian sovereignty. Plus the map could have been done better. Like make the Prairie US, Quebec independent, the Maritime it’s own territory/nation, Ontario as Canada, then most of the territories as Nunavut or First Nations controlled.

Guess that makes sense?

Well, I don’t want to mention to referendum-ish thing or today’s pressuring. Cuz I’m from Japan which also have some controversial thing with Russia so it’s sure that my opinion will be much more Kiev-friendly.
That’s why I am talking about the history and unsuccessful shutting down of USSR.
I know (but I didn’t know who exactly gave) that leader of USSR changed border between Russia and Ukraine.
But thing is Moscow couldn’t manage the death of USSR because of Coup on August 19. Without mentioning Crimea, Ukrainian leave USSR August 24.
So…… the only chance of argue Crimea fully domestically is that 4 days.
And within 4 months of half-diplomatic discussion before USSR completely disappeared, Russia itself failed to take the land back.

Just a quick correction about 2:58 - Lenin never officially stated who he wanted as successor to the Soviet leadership. This is how his testament is interpreted, only because he heavily critiqued Stalin based on his short-tempered and impatient character, with Trotsky as the other serious candidate. I say "serious" because obviously Bolsheviks like Bukharin, Zinoviev and Kamenev were taken into consideration, but Trotsky was the leased criticised of all of them.
I don't want to sound pretentious and I cannot actually find the source, so if somebody finds the book I'm referring to then please reply below - but I read somewhere that on his deathbed, Lenin (in short) told each and every one of them that neither is suitable for a successor to the Soviet Union, and that they don't possess the traits to govern such a body in true Communist fashion.
I wrote an essay about this like 2 years ago but I cannot find the source material to save my life.

The Canada thing ignores context. Imagine for a second if the USSR won the Cold War and Canada being the US' neighbour had to play this careful balancing act to not piss off the USSR in the arctic but also have the very real threat of a revanchist bitter US on its border. Then WHAM a pro-USSR coup (CanuckMaidan) happens in Ottawa where it looks like the new government of Canada will allow Warsaw Pact troops on Canadian soil- Even though the US claims the USSR verbally said at some point in 90's it wouldn't expand into the Americas- Despite having already done so in the 2000's (by adding Cuba, Chile, and Venezuela lets day), causing much concern. Then, not with Canada on its northern flank, the US would understandably have reason to worry and start planning to invade Canada to create buffer states.
That. That is what is happening in Ukraine- Change some proper nouns- North America/Eastern Europe. Warsaw Pact/NATO, Canada/Ukraine, Cuba,Venez,Chile/Eastern Europe and you pretty much have that scenario.

Regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The reason why you don't see that much in the north, and especially from Belarus, is because that would be phase 2 and 3. Phase 1 is basically to take everything east of the Dnieper river and threaten Kiev, then say "Do what we tell you to do, or we'll go further". Of course, we don't know the exact plans, but this is the most probable one according to some source that I can't find anymore. They want a quick war where the goal is possibly only to HEAVILY federalise Ukraine and then play the autonomous regions against each other and let places like Luansk and Donetsk join Russia.
