You are a cool gal thank you for your upbeat info it helps me alot I'm a 60year old man who rides a bike about 100miles a week. Keep up the great attitude young gal peace and love
As a amputee I love your videos and God bless.
Thank you for all of the info you share. I am a recent amputee RBKA 12/1/17 and have learned so much from your videos!! Thank you a million times over!!
I stepped into sock world this afternoon when my temporary leg arrived. A scuff on the end of my stump needs to heal more before I can wear my new leg for more than 5 minutes per day, but during fitting, my pin clicked down several click, showing me how quickly my leg was also shrinking while in the socket.
Haven't worn my new leg long enough to try out the handful of socks yet, but your video helped give me more insight into sock care & feeding. Thank you so much for your inspiration!
Thank you so much. I am a caregiver for a recent amputee and this is just what I needed to know.
After a few years you may not even need to use socks at all, once your residual limb has finished shrinking and reached a stable size.
I have not had to use a sock for quite some time now, and it certainly makes getting ready in the morning much easier.
It takes more time for me to lace up and tie my right boot than it takes to put on my prosthetic left leg.
I have found that above the ankle boots help to stabilize both my real leg and my prosthetic leg by providing some additional support to both.
I've always loved your videos and wish that you would make some more now that your a few more years into being an amputee.
legion1a can I ask, are you male or female? The reason I'm asking is because, I've thought about ankle boots or high top tennis shoes. I'm new at wearing a leg and looking for more support and balance.
I hate sneakers and love my cook imitation Doc Martin's...Wear them exclusively...makes me feel Kool again.
I do wear socks due to shrinkage..my stump is really small now .I wear a shrinker 24/7...helps with phantom pain.. over my shrinker I wear the socks..2-3-5 ply with a " hat" to fit over bottom of stump. New leg new socket new Bionic foot ready for me now..yahoooo
Hi, Christina. I go in today for my clear socket, I am so excited! I love your vids. They are a great learning tool for me. Can't wait to be walking again!
Yay! You're the exact kind of person I do these videos for. I hope to see you walking soon!
I have really enjoyed U vids. Glad to know someone else wears their stump socks as hats too! LoL... I'm a LKD ( left knee disarticulation) since 2013 and this new life is a hard adjustment. Your vids are informative and funny. Keep up the good work!!!
Your an inspiration and you make me laugh
Wow.. the same thing happens with dentures. I'm 6 weeks in with upper and lower dentures and the shrinkage is pretty rapid. Instead of socks, dentures use reline material, but I guess the concept is the same... up to a year of rapid changes.. thanks for your videos and your attitude is great
I have relined my socket using dental putty,it has made a real difference to the resorbtion of the residual limb especially around the lower area.
Yup, I wore stump socks before I got my prothesis under a shrinker to make the shrinker more comfortable. You can pretty much wear them anytime, you just have to be careful before your wound is healed to keep it covered before you put a stump sock on, otherwise you'll get blood and such on your sock ^.^
Ok❣💟💜💝💞💌💋💋😙💗💙💛💚👗👡👒👠
😂 thank you for making my day by trying the sock on your head.
Very helpful, thank you 👍
I'm an amputee consultant and I'm gonna teach a new patient on sock management tomorrow
I lost my left foot due to a stupid moment march 4th so its been interesting to see you many parallels. My leg guy told me how to cut up tube socks to improve fit as needed until we do another socket.
Hi my name is Phil. I am also a amputee like you. Except it is my right foot. I have been a amputee since early 2008 because of a car wreck. I just wanted to say i enjoy watching your videos and if you ever need to talk to someone i am here for you.:)
she give you good sock
I really like your video I am a below knee amputee I can’t wear a prosthetic I just wear the socks
The socks can also be used to protect your knee from chafing caused by the socket near the top. My knee has been sore recently due to resting on a shower stool.
Did you receive my email, Christina?
~Hilton
you are a brave girl i love you
Very informative video.Morris
Is there a knitting pattern to make these?
Greetings to you!
Christina! Loved! *_* =D I love your videos I would label the speech for Brazilians in portuguese! :)
Semoga sehat selalu.Aammiinn.
Where did you get that socket fabric cover, I need just two plain black ones but not sure where to get them bc I can’t sew lol?
I’m a prosthetist in NC and we can use any fabric you want. If you want a design I usually recommend either a youth t-shirt or a yard of whatever fabric you like. We can also special order the sleeves but some laces charge a little extra for the added time to get it just right. Ask your prosthetist next time you are in for an appointment or replacement socket.
Thank you for your video. Can you please tell me what is the best website for buying these socks or liners?
Can I knit astumpsocks for my husband who is an above knee amputee please let me know
I feel like i never know when to add socks or how many, i usally wear the same amount all say long i guess
Yeah..me too. I'm lazy and don't like adding and removing socks all day but....3 yrs an amp now..my leg dude says...you gotta change thickness as needed a few x a day .oh no!!
Probably why I've had 2 pressure wounds so far in 2019 and 2020.
So...I'm learning when to add them n when to remove.
It's a learning process!❤️
Solution maybe make the socket like an adjustable ski boot front and back rear entry ski boot.
I'm imagining a deluxe socket with gel pouches(?) that inflate as necessary … wonder if it's possible.
Where do you buy these socks? And which brands do you recommend?
Aww! Well, I'm flattered ^.^
Can someone design an inflatable liner a double skin inner similar to a ski boot liner popular in the eighties I think just a thought.I am a dental tech we make every weird thing you can think of,titanium gold alloy chrome ceramic three d printing polycarbonate injection moulding, there is a similar connection to both methods of fabrication.
Oh my God I can't believe i have never put a stump sock on my head! I feel so commonplace and uncreative. *runs off to find a stump sock for 'ead*
well, when i say 'run'...
lolol
why they only give you only two 3 and 3 fives and six twos idont know 0nly 2 threes/?
How do you wash them
In the washer
Maybe?
Are this socks expensive?
How much
Well, I sent it to your heathen (Ziztur) account, madam.
~Hilton
