I was listening to this song when I was on my knees, crying for my mom’s health. I was devastated because she has cancer and wasn’t doing well at all. God talked to me through this praise, and when I opened the Bible, it was Psalms 27. God confirmed that we should just wait on Him. We still need a miracle, but now we have faith and praise while we wait! My mom is a woman who follows our Lord’s words, and I ask you to pray for her health as well. Her name is Maria Juracy and she has a serious Lymphoma.

the old country church where the pastor visited nursing homes and prisons, had a personal homeless mission to help the poor. They did not worry about tithes, only the word of God. yes, the country church was a place I first found Jesus.

It is impossible not to be infected with joy by these brothers singing to the Lord! It is very exciting ... It invigorates the soul! Surely God rejoiced in Heaven with this hymn of praise! Amen. Anyone enjoying this sound in 2020?

I grew up going to church, but it was only a ritualistic event. I never heard about God the other days of the week. I wish I had been introduced to this group as a child. Let's just say my childhood needed this desperately. I've been listening to this wonderful group for a year or two now. I love every member....so many talents.
Reminds me of Wednesday night. It was prayer meeting night. Good singing with a testimony or two.

Southern gospel music at its finest. Every one of those singers brought years of music singing experience. Bill Gaither knows what songs to pick, chooses carefully singers for solo parts and chooses a quality piano player like Anthony Burger or Gordon Mote. Although many of the performers have passed on, their legacy of music continues.

I absolutely love this!!! My daddy was a minister…I grew up with the Gaithersburg and these songs!!! I was the church pianist in my daddy’s church and others.

That song reminds me of the Sparta UMC in Grenada County, MS.....truly an old country church....you can't help but feel the presence of the Lord there.....and yes, many have gone on....and are buried in the cemetery across the road. When I first attended Homecoming there some 55+ years ago, you drove an old gravel road to get there....dinner on the ground....funeral home fans to stir the air....

I want to go to an old country church. I’m not a believer in the afterlife or a god but I have been doubting myself lately. I am humble enough to think I could be wrong.
Praise God! It's obvious you're searching for truth and if you ask God He will give it to you. The Bible says, "Ask and you shall receive. Knock and the door will be opened to you. Seek and you will find." Jesus is the Truth, Life and Way. You most certainly are right to doubt your way of thinking but Jesus is waiting with open arms to welcome you into His family.
Old gospel is the way to go.
I do not know a better life than pastoring small rural churches.
Let the praise of Jesus rise!

+TattooedEagle You're absolutely right. My father passed away last September, a great man, was a missionary in Papua New Guinea for years. He retired a few years ago. He only lived his full life with us every holiday we had, for only 16 month before he was diagnosed with brain cancer and died 6 months later. I feel the lost but knowing that he had fought a good fight till the end I can thank God for his early departure, to a place he deserved, an eternal rest, comfort and joy. The lyrics of this song comforted us so much, in fact we played this video during our gathering after the funeral. It was a mixed feeling of loss and sadness, but more of joy and gratefulness that as the song says,.."But they’re on the other shore, Where they’ll sing forever more, As they did at that old country church."; It was a real comfort and joy to listen to this songs. +Schmuelsons Reidl My condolences for your loss. My parents are both gone, but definitely not forgotten. I'm pleased that you spend so much time with him before he passed. I wish I would have spent more time with my parents than I did. Different time and circumstances though. I was fresh home from Vietnam and the Army when Dad left us, because of his second ( and fatal ) bout with cancer. Before he contracted cancer the 2nd time, is when I could have spent time with him, getting to know him better and seeing if I could get him to talk about his time in the service, maybe do some fishing & hunting with him, but I didn't. After Vietnam, I became a drunk and druggie, for many reasons, that I needn't go into. Sure wish I could go back in time! Thanks for your nice reply. God Bless and be with you and your family.

I've always liked this song since the first time I heard it about 50 years ago. JD Sumner actually wrote this song and about 500 other songs during his career and also was the owner and founder of the National Quartet Convention.

Oh do I love the Gaither homecoming hour my grandparents turned me on to this music years ago when I was still in school and I would have to go over there after school was out and we would have so much fun thank you to my grandparents I love them a lot.
