nah, the omega flowey boss has this certain feeling of dread and panic which this one does not, your best nightmare is something completely unique that i don't know if anyone will be able to reproduce

@@gryotharian Agreed, Jevil's theme isn't actually that chaotic. Unlike Omega Flowey's theme, which sounds really chaotic, one of my favorite songs from Undertale.
Another bonus effect for making it sound “weird”, use 5/4 or 7/4, because those feel disjointed, especially if the section right before or after is in 3/4 or 4/4.
Listening to this I'm just imagining a classy man in a suit who invites MC into a shady club or a hotel lobby or something. You've known the guy for a while in the game and he's popped in and out giving quick tutorial tips and hints. He calls you in telling you he's got something urgent about [insert quest] and you have to talk to him before anything else. You enter the place and he talks about how dangerous things are going to be and that he doesn't want you to get hurt. He offers to just stay in the city you're in rather than risk your neck saving the world, that you don't want to get mixed up in all that, etc. If you say yes it delays the fight until you try and leave town, where he stops you and you're forced to say no. If you say no, the man says "well it's better to meet your end here then face a fate worse than death out there." Then his body melts into a swarm of bugs and you have to shoot the moving targets before they latch onto you and slowly leech your HP away. During the fight you hear the man's voice saying that his bug form came from the hand of [insert BBEG] and he would rather kill than have you become the same. As you win, he pleads with you to give up until you slowly wither him down. End of batlle cutscene, the man reforms into the suit and says he gives up. He dejectedly heads over to the bar and pours himself a drink saying: "You'll come back here one day if you make it out alive. You'll beg me to put an end to your misery and I'll pour myself another drink and push you away. This is a mistake, kid. Go, get out of here. I don't want that look on your face to plague my conscience."
My man you would *really benefit* from learning music theory. Your stuffs already amazing and if you learned the theory behind harmony you could do some amazing things to create subtle emotional effects with chords.
Shady is a genius, change my mind. God, the instrumentation and motives sounded great THAT SAX MY MAN! The main melody felt like Castlevania or similar too
Claims not to know music theory. Talks about chromatic minor scale. Don't sell yourself short, man. I know people who don't even know what a measure is.

But I couldn't accurately define what makes something a minor chromatic scale to someone that doesn't already know. He knows at least as much theory as I do, just different parts of it.

The oc finds an aincient (or modern, whichever you want), artefact (a soul- like from undertale.) The colour of the Soul is gold. When the oc picks up the soul, they absorb it into their body. The soul gives them a feeling and trait of justice. The oc then gets some kind of weapon (a sword) and gives the world justice.
For a piece of music that intentionally tries to be all-over-the-place, this is pretty emotional! Guess this boss is chaos with layers :D Good work, Shady! This is definitely my favorite Project EX track so far 😄
Crazy how this poped out in my recommandations as I was just looking to do a classic character theme. Now I have enough material and knowledge do make my God-Like character a crazy boss theme!
The only reason SC says to not take it seriously is because he doesn't want us to steal his out of this world themes! Seriously one of the best boss themes I've ever heard!
Another fun thing that's hard to pull off though. Instead of using a normal 4/4 signature like in this song try something stupid like 17/4. Or switching between 5/4 and 7/4
This channel provides great examples for making music for games, especially if you are a sole developer with low budget, this channel deserves more praise and attention
