Rovinj was my first time holiday visiting Croatia in 1995. Me and my girlfriend stayed on the island that’s in front of the harbor (in the video on your drone shot), otok Katarina. We had to travel a small part with the boat if we went to the mainland. In those days there where no supermarkets like we all see now in Croatia, just small bakeries, butchers and veggie shops. I will never forget the day that Croatia got their independent victory and I was there to witness. Cars with flags drove through the town and fireworks been shot in the air. Since then, till now, I have come every year to Croatia on holidays.
Hey Dušan, welcome to Istria! We just moved to Rovinj from the U.S.! I've been following you since you started this channel. If I had known that you were coming this way, it would have been great to meet up! Let me know if you're coming back to the area and I'd be happy to give you a tour of Rovinj or around the area. Love Motovun. We have so many of these wonderful medieval hilltop towns in Istria, with Motovun being the most famous! Istria is known as "The Green Mediterranean" because it is so verdant. The Romans called Istria "Terra Magica", and it truly is a magical land. Rovinj is a very Venetian looking town, as you noted commenting about its Italian look with pastel colored buildings. The St. Eufemia church's bell tower is a smaller replica of the one on St. Mark's square in Venice. It was built in a similar timeframe. Rovinj was an important trading port under the Republic of Venice. Motovun is the birthplace of Mario Andretti and puts on a well known wonderful film festival every year. My favorite medieval hilltop town is Grožnjan. You must visit Grožnjan next time. Did you try some truffle pasta while in Istria? Looking forward to your Hvar video! Peace to you and your beautiful family! Be well. Look forward to meeting you one day.
Hey Claudia! I have another TH-cam channel so I was re-editing some older content i had from a couple years ago and moving all the croatian related content over to this channel. So truth be told i havent been there in some while now! Thank you for the interesting information and hoping to go explore Istria in more depths in the future.
They're friends of ours...great people. I'm glad you experienced Motovun! Do return in May and/or October, the best months here. Such a shame to have to pay to walk the walls, unlike before it became crowded. Gorgeous, though!
Mario Andretty the most famous American car racer who win everything ( formula one, Indianapolis 500, Daytona 500, NASCAR, and meni others) was born in Motovun
@@Dusan.Grujic But for real i was confused, I was following until Lika and then when you ended up in Istra I was like "when are they going to reach Karlovac? That's a long road trip"
Thank you for sharing these! Hope to see more 🎉
Thank you for this...we live between these fantastic towns. My favourite region on the planet, especially in shoulder/off seasons.
You're very lucky indeed!

Hi from Australia 🇦🇺
We were in Motovun a few weeks ago. Beautiful town and scenery. Fakin winery and restaurant was excellent too.
