I'd really like to see Satriani, Gilbert and Vai in a G3 jam. Nothing against Petrucci, but Steve Vai is missing in this jam, and the combination Gilbert/Vai could be really awesome.
LOL, I new Joe was gonna do that over played harmonic at the end of his solo...LOL Why is it that these amazing guitar players can compose amazing music, but when they improvise, even Vai, they are limited to the blues box??? This is really common amongst most rock guitar players.
I think the main reason is that all of them are heavily influenced by Jimi, he was pretty much the reason Joe even started playing. I think that people like Paul and John kind of light a fire under Joes ass, so he tends to branch away from his virtuosity, but then freaks out and goes back to what he knows.... Imagine trying to follow ANY of these guys on stage lol in the words of Mitch Hedberg "gooooood luck, fucker!"
I think Satriani was redundant man nearby John Petrucci and Paul Gilbert.Somebody had made wrong choise. If I choose, I will get Guthrie Govan. However Awesome John doing very well that playing tooth picking.
