There's just something about dual crowns and solid bolted handlebars of the DH bike that gives me more confidence and less hassle. It also helps that the local trail is mostly steep descent, so I don't really care much for the uphill capabilities.
Nice comparison, so far I’ve only ridden a dh bike and it has slowed me down only in the uphill sections but if you don’t mind walking or riding slower uphill it doesn’t really matter what bike you buy/have✅😉
Good video and I agree with your conclusion (and understand why you used that trail) but I would say something like Mystery DH/Meat Sweats/Jersey Shore on Cypress, 19th Hole in Squamish, PhD in Pemberton or a Garbo tech lap in Whistler would be a better comparison :) mostly cuz I want the DH bike to win haha.
I like to have a DH and a trail bike because I think the bike park hammers my trail bike way more, so my DH is my hammer bike to preserve my trail bike for trails. Plus the DH is just fun to ride

They're both loads of fun and both excel in certain areas. If you could only have one, the Capra is much more versatile, but nothing takes the rough, double black trails at Silver Mtn. Bike Park better than a DH bike. Nice video!
@@eazilyamuzed1 Yes but that bike can do a lot more, and you probably upgraded it throughout time. A downhill bike starts out really expensive and upgrading and replacing parts on it costs even more.
@@nawab256 I purchased both new and paid about $400 less for the Tues (they are both base AL models). Last November the '19 Tues with the Fox 40 suspension was available for only $200 more then the base Capra. It just depends on when you purchase and what kit you choose. As far as maintenance, what is it that you think costs more on a DH bike? The suspension might be a little more, but most everything else is the same or cheaper. My tires are a couple of dollars more due to the casing I get, but the difference is insignificant, really. 2 things more expensive to replace on the enduro would be the drivetrain and dropper post (the DH doesn't have the latter). So, again... it depends. If price is what is keeping you from considering a DH bike, you should disregard that. You CAN get them for reasonable prices and they are a helluva a lot of fun!
Great video, also pretty simple for me. If you only can have one bike always choose an Enduro. If you ride a lot of park and can afford another one then a DH makes absolutely sense too. Do you need a DH? No, good riders shredding bikeparks on their hardtails better than anyone but DH makes just more fun. Driving myself an Enduro and will also get a DH for the new season. My bike (160 / 150mm) is just not meant to take those huge drops and gaps in the park.
DH for the fun factor not caring about flat line or climbs speed. Enduro for faster climbs and faster flat-lines and long distance rides. The difference is minimal, and both can be fun... So have both if you ride more than two times a month.
Awesome comparison. Dont have anything here that would need a DH bike in florida but i am looking at getting an enduo bike. Doing my first endruo on the 14th. Great edit.

I ride mostly black diamond local trails on the Capra its not too bad pedalling, and in the summer I hit the bike parks. I have demoed a ton of bikes since I bought the Capra but nothing has made me feel like i am missing something out.
I feel like on blue and average black rated trails where I don't have to try to hold a tight line my enduro bike is faster, but get into the rough black and double black trails and my DH bike is not only faster but also easier to ride all day long.
Nice vid. I only see that you have two bikes so that simply says to me, "Yes. Yes you do need a DH bike". That's what I'm going to tell my wife. Since I've began going to Windrock and will be hitting other parks as well, AND since I rented a DH bike to see what the fuss is about, I can see a DH bike in my future. Gnarly parks are just more fun on a big bike, even if the trail bike can do it.
I ride my enduro bike GT Sanction 2011 on the dh trails and I feel confidence. Also I ride that bike in my town including uphills. I think that DH bike give you more abilities on the black and double black trails with high drops, big gaps, gnarly roots and rock gardens. I choose enduro bike because like to ride downhill and uphill using dropper post, it's between xc and dh! =) P.S. I wear my fullface helmet when I ride my enduro bike on the dh trails and health for me on the first place than fashion, only riding blue trails, long distantion travel, I need enduro open face helmet... ;)
Great video. I'd love to see another one comparing the two when riding a lift served bike park. I've been riding an enduro bike for a few years at the bike park, but picked up a V10 to ride lift served this year. Hopefully it's worth the upgrade.
Nice video, If you did another one like this you could consider laying the two clips of each section of trail over the top of each other so that we can see which bike was faster... just an idea 🤘
I got an DH bike and a second hand hardtail bike (100€) and the DH is very nice to ride in the woods but the 100€ hardtail makes so much more fun to ride because it's not heavy like the DH and runs so much faster :-)
I think it's obvious from EWS that very very few people NEED a dh bike. Gone are the days where if you tried taking a mid-travel bike down a DH trail the bike would explode - Enduro bikes these days are ridden just as hard and fast as full dh bikes were capable of not that long ago. So unless you're riding Rampage or racing Val di Sole, no, you don'y really NEED a dh bike.
selling both my hardtail and DH, and buying an enduro. But boy does a DH feel good in the bikepark. I'd say buy the bike that you can ride the most on. And spend as much as you can. I'd rather have an enduro with better grade suspension then both with moderate
you should have put the same tires on both so the comparison really came down to the bikes themselves, not the difference in rolling resistance from tires
I use both of them, just build up my new Enduro Bike and my new DH Rig is ordered. With modern Enduro Bikes and some Bike Skills you can ride almost everything. But I prefer the DH Bike on real DH Tracks because you can ride faster with it. At first I rode everything with my DH Bike from Bikeparks to Local Trails and stuff but when you ride just for fun and maybe do some Enduro Races the Enduro Bike is the right one for you as I said you probably can ride every trail with them. Love your Videos by the way, greetings from Austria :) An interesting thing: on my local Trails, I am so much faster with my 29er Enduro Bike :). Loving this beast 🤘
Exactly as I suspected, buy another bike for the parks, but the Enduro will be best for overall trail riding. So by my count I'll need my Enduro, and fixie, a small bmx whip and a serious DH bike. Guess the car won't be getting those new brakes after all 🤣
Putting urban jumping into the equation or nature trails where u have to be ready for anything, DH bikes are the best, I think. Doing these things in XT, Enduro might just increase their maintenance.
I prefer enduro, I mean don't get me wrong I love downhill but if I got a downhill bike it would be good at the downhill parts and ONLY that. My friend has a downhill bike and I LOVE IT but however, he has trouble with the uphill parts while everyone else from our biking group has no problem getting up. I would love both types of bikes but if I were to choose one it would definitely be enduro. But hey! It's just my stupid opinion, nothing I say actually matters! So live on believing whatever you want to believe!

So unless you're riding Rampage or racing Val di Sole, no, you don'y really NEED a dh bike.
Hah, I loved the video game style bike intros.
selling both my hardtail and DH, and buying an enduro. But boy does a DH feel good in the bikepark. I'd say buy the bike that you can ride the most on. And spend as much as you can. I'd rather have an enduro with better grade suspension then both with moderate

Nice vid and solide editing , keep up the good work 👌👌
Thanks!
you should have put the same tires on both so the comparison really came down to the bikes themselves, not the difference in rolling resistance from tires
This video is just for fun. Choosing the “best” bike is more art than science.
Getting my 2017 yt capra tomorrow so hyped
I have the jeffy 2018 Pro Race 29 and I feel more confident compared my NS Enduro 27.5
Do you recommend yt jeffsy 25.7 al?
Nice work! This is the video I was needing. Even with the Tues! Pwease pwetty pwease do a follow-up day from the bike park. Thank you sir!
Only a couple more weeks and the park will be open
@@VanCan Coast gravity opens at 10AM :) Have fun buddy!
Listening to your voice is like watching an asmr video.
Love your Videos by the way, greetings from Austria :)
An interesting thing: on my local Trails, I am so much faster with my 29er Enduro Bike :). Loving this beast 🤘
Thanks! Ya enduro bikes can do everything but I like riding the park with my DH bike.
@@VanCan me too 😉😝
Sick video man ❄️
Thanks!
Exactly as I suspected, buy another bike for the parks, but the Enduro will be best for overall trail riding. So by my count I'll need my Enduro, and fixie, a small bmx whip and a serious DH bike. Guess the car won't be getting those new brakes after all 🤣
Correct
Great vid! Congrats on 10K! Are you going to have a special video for the 10K?
Thanks,I don't have anything special planned.
I have an enduro. Didn’t think I needed both
My dad has the tues I have the Capra.
Tues- amazing for downhill
Capra- great at everything
Would love to see the same comparison on Whistler :)
Maybe soon 😉
ENDURO FOR EVER !!!
I just use my dh bike for urban jumping everything...normal mountain biking and my daily to work... plus.. a dh bike looks soooooo much cooler
Your opinion matters.
I have a DH ebike , Game changer 👍🏿
Nice filming
Thanks!
Very good and interesting Video, I like your neutral point of view, and your skills are also very good, I'm from Germany and I would love to. Ride a real english Bikepark-flow or singwptrail onetime 🙃🤙
That GoPro footage looks crystal clear. How do you achieve it? Also, nice comparison. 🤙🏼
Pro tune and colour correcting in post.
@@VanCan As soon as I upload any footage to TH-cam, the quality gets messy 🤷🏻♂️
@@mtbmwe6684 I don't know much about those things but try scaling it up to 2k or something, upload it and look if the quality is better
here in Germany/austria/swiss are enduros meaningful
Are you asking if you’d want an enduro in those areas? Enduros can pretty much go anywhere!
Just put 12speed on dh bike
Great review. I'm leaning towards the YT Capra Pro but I've been reading that they are not poppy and are harder to jump and not as fun as other enduro bikes. It doesn't look like you have trouble popping and hucking it on the trail. Thoughts? I would appreciate it. I'm really feeling the Capra over the Nomad and the Firebird right now.
The Capra feels pretty easy to jump and hop around to me.
@@VanCan Thanks. Good to know!!!
Quality filming! And throwing in a little Too Gear "and on that bombshell"....nice :) How's your training for BC Bike Race going?
Thanks. I’m not actually doing the BC bike race, I’d probably die. I am doing the EWS I whistler though and the cardio is slowly coming along.
@@VanCan Hehe. There are so many other YTers doing it I figured you'd be right there with em. Based on your skills with a bike you're gonna do wicked on EWS
Enduro with coil front and rear. That would be it.
loved the video 👍
Thanks!
Tip don't cover the sound of the trail and riding completely but over all great 👍 vid you earned your self a subscriber
I like to switch it up. Next videos will have more raw trail sounds!
Guide on the Tues and code on the capra?? Little backwards?
Just how they came. I'm not picky about brakes
