Is it ever a good idea, to have your fursona done up in multiple art styles, by multiple artists? I like the idea of seeing my Soma the Ecstatic Wolf, in Toon, Semi-Toon, Semi-Real, Anime, and Hyper Real.
Some artist love when you send them your own art of the character, even if it's not very good. This helps them take lots of the guess work out of the commission. Some even love when you send pictures with list of what you like about it and things you would like to have changed. If you do this you can't just send them an existing picture or piece of art that you don't own and tell them to do that. That's copying and most will tell you no. So no taking an existing reference sheet and just telling them to change the color patern. The more details the better help out artist. But the more complex you make a character the more expensive the commission.

For example, if they're a fox or a tiger, and you know that their back is just a solid color or striped, you don't need a view from their back in your example image(s) to get the point across. Something I would recommend however is having set colors that the artist (especially digital artists) can easily take from. A lot of commissions would've gone much easier for me in the past if commissioners without a full/digital sheet could give me a set of digital colors (and not just a colored, scanned drawing) or hex code numbers to use on their commission. I know how to draw spots and stripes, but I don't know exactly what you have in mind when you tell me your fursona is "blue."

Can a person’s fursona be a werewolf or would that not count since they shapeshifter between animal and human? Also, if someone was “a werewolf” would “transformations” be “breaking the magic” since they’d technically be going from fur suit to human taking it off or no since both wolf form and human are part of their species or if they talked in their fur suit in public or no since talking and shape shifting are a part of their species?

Always have that one friend that is experienced in burning their money on furry art. Good recs there. Best thing is when a friend wants to get art with you, its so cool! Also on twitter RT stuff. I found one of my favorite artists (and now good trusted friend) from seeing a RT a while back for a YCH. And so glad I saw that, helped me out a ton in the future.

To get a ref sheet you can also do like I did and color free lineart (like the Ultimate Free Reference Sheet from the radpandas website) and then commission an artist for a more unique ref sheet or just use that :P Basically I used that for a "ref sheet ref sheet" then got a ref sheet with it :D
Also a upside with commissions instead of free art is that you mostly will be guaranteed you always get your art. Someone once was open for requests about 3 years ago and never gave me it :P
I got myself a bird sona and I don't have a bank card, but, I have met an artist who did take gift cards for casual spending, like Starbucks, Amazon, Xbox, PSN, ya know those cards, and my ref sheet for my babs should be ready by next week, so, there are ways to get yourself a ref sheet without PayPal or using a credit card.
I'm still learning to be an artist, but I am willing to draw requests and commissions for people on my main Google profile, not my TH-cam profile. Reply if interested! :-)
All of that will be realy hard to do until I earn my own moneys, but still thank you so much for making this vid. It gave me a realy good overlook of what to do.😉😃
