- In March of 2018, my family and I set out for a two month tour of Europe. We traveled through Germany, France, Italy, and Greece.
I thought traveling would give me a lot more content for my videos, making them more interesting and earning me more views.
It ended up doing exactly the opposite.
As a very amateur video creator, I really didn’t know how to make the best of my locations, and the constant change brought on by travel ended up resulting in a slew of new challenges.
New locations, ugly backgrounds, weird lighting… it was tough.
These days, I’m having a lot of fun decorating… but a great TH-cam set isn’t just about looks -- it has to be functional too.

Decorating makes a big difference! This is just a bedroom in my house... painting the walls grey, hanging art, and adding plants all had a major impact. Don't think you necessarily need a whole new house!

I love this!! My husband and I decided to repurpose our guest bedroom this summer so we could each have our own home office. I have been slowly chipping away at mine with multiple filming books/angles in it and so far I am loving how it is coming together! I hope to be done this winter!

I am interested in the exact camera you are using and also what camera stand you use for that camera. The main camera you recommended has several options. Is the w/24-70 mm the correct camera?

Nice set, but the squares with the tape are difficult for me to not continue to look at and miss what you're saying.
Nice new set. I enjoyed the video. But the eco is still pretty noticeable. You could put some sound blankets up behind the camera to try to control that better.
With each new video, I’m really trying to implement your suggestions and do better. My daughter says my craft room background needs an intervention 😀!

Gillian, thanks for the video. I am planning on starting a TH-cam video and your video has been very informative. Quick question for you, what was the camera setup used for this video; mainly what was your lens selection, 20mm or 24mm? I will be using Sony A7 IV. I currently own the 35mm f1.4, but considering getting a wide angle. Still have not narrowed it down between 24mm f/1.4 or 20mm f/1.8 yet. I like the feel of this video, that's why am curious about your lens selection. Cheers!

What are your thoughts about shooting against a green screen and using a digital background. I thought this would provide consistancy when traveling and may be less expensive than the set materials.
Any tips for good backgrounds while we travel?
I don't think is a good idea to use a clock in the background because of the cut's, but like the video. congrats!

I am struggling to set up my space. I want to do exercise videos but do not have a room that is long enough and wide enough to not show a corner. Plus, the camera has to be far enough away to get my entire body in the shot and I cannot get the lighting bright enough without having the box lights and lamps in the video.
Nice but expensive, wau. I would gone thrifting. Reporposing is the way to go.✌

So do you use all of the lights in your room? I used bulbs with the same temp as my studio lights but I'm torn between dark space vs bright like your set.
