There's two main things that bug the hell out of me in medical dramas. One is that they make a *LOT* of assumptions. The other is that the main characters have literally every department and specialty covered with 3-5 people. Crime dramas have exactly the same two problems. I'll still watch them, but I will scream internally when a neurologist/gastroenterologist is also apparently a cardiovascular/orthopedic surgeon who just accurately diagnosed a rare auto-immune disorder based off 3 symptoms that realistically could've been caused by hundreds of other things and may not even be related.

Edit: in retrospect, watching this a year later, I 100% empathize with Mouse about her frustrations towards House, since she as a person who was for years chained to a hospital bed and who has probably come across hundreds of doctors and who was frustrated with how her health was deteriorating no matter what she did, she probably is very cognizant of how important good patient care is in the medical field

I Think House focuses on the mystery and investigation aspect than the medical accuracy. I like the shenanigans House gets in to, and how much of an ass he is. I like his character development near the end of the problem is, people think it’s suppose to be a medical drama, which I don’t think were the writers primary thematic intentions.

I'm glad mousey is one of those people that takes their illness as an opportunity to learn about the medical field and why we do the things we do. Shes the type of patient that people are more than happy to help because she doesnt fight you every step of the way, and can actually assist in their own treatment. While it is incredibly important to vouch for yourself and ask questions as a patient (medical staff can make mistakes, and there are indeed bad medical "professionals"), it is also important to not overly impede the people literally trying their best to keep you alive/make you feel better. We did not take years of medical school, nursing school, or what have you to be told we're a quack by somebody who spent 5 minutes on the front page of google.

I think this video solved a mystery for me! So I had an ex nearly two decades ago, that died of cancer a few years ago (he was abusive, he brought it on himself and the world is better off), and because he was so afraid to confront his own mortality that he refused to see doctors, by the time he _was_ dragged to the doctors' office by his then wife he was in stage 4 and it had metastasized so much they had no idea where it started. Well when Mousey started talking about inhalers I randomly remembered my ex being prescribed an inhaler of some kind. I looked it up- *44%* of people with asthma are at a higher risk of developing lung cancer. I'm pretty sure now it was lung cancer he had.
Also I'm in 100% agreement with Ironmouse, House sucks balls of all types. The characters, the writing, the plot... bullsh!t.

It's like most of the police/crime dramas that are a bunch of B.S. too. (To the point where the Red Dwarf "enhance" meme is 100% on-point.) I think the issue is they try to pretend a connection to reality in some way, which can be plot breaking. So when I watch fiction - I pick something that's blatantly so and over-the-top instead of even trying to present itself as real in some way, anime is pretty good at fulfilling that roll.

"Do you know the kind of serious trouble he'd be in if he were a real doctor?" I think that's sorta the point of the show, it's eight seasons of the least employable diagnostician ever conceived. He cannot exist in reality, he would have been fired and sued 177 times, if we presume every bad thing he did was caught by the cameras, and that he only did one bad thing per episode (hehe xd)
