Good morning. Thank you for yet another informative video. One minor correction though. The DeTomaso Pantera was designed by Tom Tjaarda. Mr. Gandini was responsible for the car's very last facelift, before the end of its production, that being the Pantera Si.
The 1999 Bugatti Chiron looks better than the current model, I'm not a fan of the blade intake even though it's a necessity. The EB 118 saloon would have been one incredible luxury car.
Great video. Love the compiled footage and narration.. Very well researched and presented! This looks like it will be my new favorite TH-cam channel! You cover all the topics that interest me: planes, trains, and automobiles!
Surely excess power to the front wheels would cause understeer rather than oversteer? I'm no expert, but that doesn't seem right. Great video though, really enjoyed learning more about this awesome car.
They didn't have sequential turbos as described in this. There was 4 identical turbos and the layout was the equivalent of 2x inline 6 twin turbos, each turbo running off 3 inline cyls. Totally conventional.
I don't know where you got the info that the EB110 had 4 sequential turbos with two smaller and two larger. In fact, if you look at photos of the exhaust manifolds, you'll see each turbo is spooled by 3 cylindres, which meant they were engaged at all times. The current Chiron has sequential turbos but not the EB110. Also, the EB110 Supersport hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, not 4.4.

I like the EB 110 more than the F40... all of this done hefore computer design... i got to sit in one, at Dragone Motors in Westport Ct.... it was a highlight to surround myself in BUGATTI. I knew the car wouldn't be there long. Its Belgian owner had loaned the car the dealership. That was in 2010
You should try ur hand at documenting the history of certain lorries. Would be perfect for ur format and i myself struggle to find solid information for even the modern classics.
I’ve never thought of the modern Bugatti’s as beautiful designs, more, they look heavy and rather underwhelming… not helped by the need to have the Bugatti grill included in the design… a grill that could never be included with an aerodynamic shape that would look good. Obviously, I’ll never have the means to buy one… not that I would even if I had the funds… It’s an overgrown VW 😗
Those modern Bugattis ARE incredibly heavy and not the best on a track either. They are an impressive engineering achievement (being able to hit such staggering top speeds and also accelerate quicker than any other car while still being very docile and usable no matter the road, the temperature, the weather etc) but what is the actual point of having cars that can do 260mph to getting close to 300mph? Even on the Autobahn from what I've seen the opportunities of hitting 200mph are rare. The first Bugatti hit 253mph, more than enough to take the fastest car in the world tag from McLarens F1 (241mph) and since then they've only got faster and faster? There was a massive difference between the Veyron and F1, the F1 'made do' with a 6ltr V12. The Veyron needed 8ltrs, 16 cylinders and 4 turbos! And that's a big part of the reason why it looks and actually is a big fat ugly blob of a car, it weighs nigh on 2000kg! The F1 was a flyweight and nearly half it's weight. The F1s crazy high top speed wasn't the entire engineering focus of the car. It was designed to be lightweight, agile and powerful and just had that 240mph more as a side effect. The Bugatti was engineered to be the fastest car ever made then all else was designed around that, hence why its so hideously fugly! And still Bugatti keep upping that totally pointless top speed (they've actually broken 300 and it's now 304mph!) Who are they even competing against? Who wants a car that can only be fully opened up on the salt flats?
@@davekennedy6315 Ettore is said to have described the Bentleys that his cars raced against as the world's fastest trucks, I wonder how he would describe a modern Bugatti. In competition for top speed with Koeniggseg , who seem to be more adventurous with their engineering. The cars are lighter as well.
I always found the marketing and launch of the EB110 a touch confusing. Ettore Bugatti was from Milan and built his cars in Alsace, a German speaking region of France. The EB110 was designed and built in Modena, Italy albeit with French contributors from the likes of Aerospatiale and Michelin. Yet they chose to launch it in French Racing Blue, they used the tricoleur a lot in the marketing and as you show, the launch was in Paris. I wonder how the French thought about all of this - an Italian car masquerading as a French car. Compared to VW era Bugatti, now Franco German and built in Alsace they don't seem to dewll too much on the cars national origin with their marketing apart from the use of French Racing Blue on special editions. Alsace is befitting of the brands current ownership but with the EB110, the overtly French push seemed at odds when marketing what was essentially an Italian car with arguably an Italian badge... No wonder it failed. Glorious car though
The Veyron only impresses me in one respect... A car that weighs over 100 kg more than my Jeep Grand Cherokee, that can accelerate that fast, and they still went ahead and developed it! Not exactly add lightness!
The post Second World War disgraceful treatment of Ettore Bugatti might go some way to indicate why Britain had a war against the French for a period of 100 years. To be as polite as possible, the term ungrateful scumbags springs to mind.
The frontal aspect of the Veyron always brings to mind the classic “overreacting horrified chubby boi” meme. The EB110 was, er, distinctive but its technological prowess is undeniable. A couple of supercar posters made it onto my petrolhead teenage bedroom walls but the EB110 was not among them. Saw one out in the wild once; they look even worse than in photos/on film but they do sound good.
