Tajwid Color Guide (With Brief Explanation)
1. Ghunnah
When Nun with tasydid (*نّ*) or Mim with tasydid (*مّ*) appears, read with a nasal sound while holding for 2 harakat.
Example: "Inna" (*إِنَّ*), "Amma" (*أَمَّا*).
If dead Nun or Tanwin precedes, the rule changes to *Idgham Bighunnah*.

2. Idgham Bighunnah
When dead Nun (*نْ*) or Tanwin meets the letters: *و م ن ي*.
Reading method: merge Nun/Tanwin with the following letter with a nasal sound (hold for 2 harakat).
Example: "Min ya’mal" (*مِنْ يَعْمَلْ*).
Special case: If dead Nun meets و or ي without spacing (like "dun-yaa"), the rule is Idzhar Wajib (read clearly, without nasal sound).

3. Idgham Bilaghunnah
When dead Nun or Tanwin meets the letters: ل or *ر*.
Reading method: merge without *nasal sound*, hold for 1-2 harakat.
Example: "Min rabbihim" (*مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ*).

4. Idgham Mitslain (Mimi)
When dead Mim (*مْ*) meets *live Mim*.
Reading method: merge with *nasal sound*, hold for 2 harakat.
Example: "Lahum ma" (*لَهُمْ مَا*).

5. Iqlab
When dead Nun (*نْ*) or Tanwin meets the letter *ب*.
Reading method: change to *dead Mim*, hold for 2 harakat.
Example: "An bata" (*أَنْ بَتَ* → read as if there's a small "mim).

6. Ikhfa
When dead Nun or Tanwin meets one of the 15 letters (*ت ث ج د ذ ز س ش ص ض ط ظ ف ق ك*).
Reading method: read softly like *NG*, hold for 2 harakat.
Example: "Min qabl" (*مِنْ قَبْل*).
*Ikhfa levels*:
Close (*Ikhfa Aqrob*): ت د ط → soft and light.
Medium (*Ikhfa Ausath*): *ث ج ذ ز س ش ص ض ظ ف*.
Far (*Ikhfa Ab'ad*): ق ك → soft and clear.

7. Ikhfa Syafawi
When dead Mim (*مْ*) meets the letter *ب*.
Reading method: read softly like *MNG*, hold for 2 harakat.
Example: "Lahum bihim" (*لَهُمْ بِهِمْ*).

8. Qalqalah
When one of the 5 letters (*ق ط د ج ب*) is dead (sukun):
*Sughra*: in the middle of the verse.
*Kubra*: at the end of the verse (with waqaf).
Reading method: echo the letter sound.
Example: "Al-haqq" (*الْحَقّ*).
