- The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held a high-level meeting on the war in Ukraine on Wednesday during General Assembly week, which included world leaders and featured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During his speech, Zelenskyy justified arming Kyiv, imposing sanctions on Moscow, and supporting UN resolutions as actions to defend the founding UN Charter.
Zelenskyy was appearing in-person at the UNSC for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
"Ukraine exercises its right to self-defence," Zelenskyy said. "Helping Ukraine with weapons in this exercise, by imposing sanctions and exerting comprehensive pressure on the aggressor, as well as voting for relevant resolutions, would mean helping to defend the UN Charter."
Zelenskyy will be in Ottawa later this week on his first visit to Canada as well, since Russia began its invasion of the eastern European country, sources tell Global News.

The war is effectively lost by Ukraine. New Ukrainian defense minister Rustem Umierov wants to officially enlist 16-year-olds, obviously Zelenskyy offensive was so successful that even official forced conscription of disabled and people with AIDS and hepatitis wasn't enough . At this point unconditional surrender is the only practical solution for Ukraine. Hitler's Germany also refused to admit defeat until Hitler killed himself, then Keitel signed unconditional surrender.
