  • The relatively new fishing method known as "Slow Pitch Jigging" is here to stay ... and taking the world by storm in the past few years.
This method has been developed and introduced by a Japanese angler, since the fish stocks that were found shallower had been depleted by the many long liners and commercial fishermen, this method is less strenous than Speed jigging but produces very favourable results.
One can see in the Caribbean the same thing taking place where the smaller fishing vessels are catching significantly less fish.
It is really a scientific approach to fishing that targets the deeper species, although the pelagics higher up the water column will hit the jigs also. Ideally the rod is very thin but very strong with a tip action which gets the jigs "dancing" even deep down at depths of over 650ft / 200m, in this video we see Chard who is JYG ProFishing Staff, using and testing a prototype Medium Fast rod with lots of parabolic action moving a 300g jyg, balanced to make it drop straight down or flutter down attracting fish, the Jygs also glow since at that depth light barely filters through.
The line used is thin 20lb test braid to allow it to get down faster especially in stronger currents, the thinner the braid the more it cuts the water allowing for the deeper drops. The science of this method marries the JYG Jig weights to the rod, to the reel to braid to work together for effective lure action to allow targetting fish that are deeper.
The new rods, are available in production models in two sizes and rod actions, on June 1st 2021 at very affordable and competitive prices, the Jigs (JYG) are proven around the world and come in many colors and sizes. These are available throughout the Caribbean as well as all tackle material such as assist hooks, braid, reels, swivels ...
Distribution for the Caribbean is through Oceanific Inc. shipping to the Caribbean from Miami. Call or message for further information / orders at (954) 655-3620
The filming for this video was done by SVB, thanks to him for his efforts and time at sea ... looks like fun. Enjoy the video !!
