I suggest that local dealers who sell emerging technology transportation devices consult with state and local attorneys to understand the laws for operating the device and have information (citing specific laws) posted and available as handouts for customers who are interested in purchasing or having one serviced. Operators can then carry a wallet card with applicable laws to share with officers if they get pulled over.
Yes, nothing has changed. I remember back in the 80s when they just began licensing and registering mopeds. I didn't know, and my moped got impounded. I received 3 tickets on the first day of the new law. It's all about money and revenue.

I was approached by a bunch of truck drivers who even before I finish explaining what it could do, they were already placing an order. I believe mostly people in NY city know about them, most other states have no idea. I only learned about them at the start of 2023, and that's because I searched for "electronic scooters" and EUC popped up.

Training and education should be done regularly and continuously, specially on public service. In the Service, we do GMT as in General Military Training, so we are trained and educated on policies, protocols, discipline, and security, and act professionally. Stopping someone for something you're not sure of the policy or protocol is embarrassing, people may think you don't know what your doing. Some people get nervous or defensive when stopped by COPs or Rangers.
So glad I retired last year. LE used to be guided by common sense. Now you don't chase many felony offenses and people stealing under $900 worth of merchandise don't get prosecuted in woke cities. At least these park rangers were professional and tried to determine the printed law. They don't always know what exactly they're dealing with until they make a stop for basic probable cause.

All this translates to is if they can't tax it, and make money off of it: ie tickets, registration, insurance etc. then they don't want you riding it. They need to focus their attention elsewhere, on the real illegal activities happening in parks. Not harassing a guy simply going for a ride, minding his own business. And the whole "speed" thing, I owned a carbon fiber racing bike and could breeze 35-40 all day. Yet, I never got pulled over for speeding, or anything.

I ride mountain bike trails and parks all the time and are welcomed on them. I do the drops and jumps better than you can imagine. These are very well suited for the singletrack trails. That is my primary riding turf. NC, TN, SC, GA mountains and all around AR, especially Bentonville.
I’m traveling and recreating and this is my mode of transportation that isn’t hurting anyone. There is no point to prove. This is the most efficient mode of assisted transport. You can’t accomplish in any other form of transport the versatility and practicality of this right here.
