Honestly, M melting due to the lava makes more sense when you consider that Starman Slaughter is set in CoolRash's World 1-3, where the death is Luigi's corpse splattering apart rather than getting burned. Then again, the fire from CoolRash World 1-1 is present in the background of the original song, which could explain him melting.

Interestingly yoshi was never appears in first super mario bros for NES well he was almost planned to appear
Shigeru Miyamoto he came up with the concept for the original super mario bros he was originally he wanted mario to ride on the horse for companion however idea was rejected due to hardware limitations of NES it wouldn’t tell until super Mario world yoshi makes his first appearance
I know this story about Yoshi no Nes, and I tried to adapt Yoshi to SMB
It wasn't the first smb he was meant for smb lost levels, also hummer team (the guys who made somari) did a bootleg mario world port on nes in 1995 and yoshi is there even tho the physics are a bit broken
They could have added a setting in the mod where you can change the style of the gameplay. And then call it "retro mode".
