What a day you picked James, looked awesome mate and that Canal shot at the beginning was maybe my favourite but there were so many great images it’s impossible to choose
That was, I believe, your most complete vlog, James. Lovely images created with light and lines, building mood , woven together to tell such an interesting story of a man who built a community that you obviously so love. Well done James- that’s an Award Winning photo essay, with nary a fell or a wainwright in sight.
Wonderful compliment Gary, thanks very much. It’s a place that is very close to me and being brought up there , the history comes almost 2nd nature. 👍👍
I had seen this shot in your another video about why you shoot black and white. This time I paused the video on the first shot and just kept looking at it to feel the mood (I could) and observe the composition, the editing, the thought you must had while capturing it about how you want it to look in the final print. It was so rewarding! Thank you.
Thanks Rahul. The conditions that day lead to the shot of course and had a large influence on it. Years of experience and a trained eye helped me make the most of this.
Allan Jefferies country.... I know it well! I've spent many hours wandering round Saltaire and Salts Mill whilst waiting for motorbikes to be serviced I keep meaning to go back with the camera, your video is a useful reminder 👍 Thanks for filming, editing and of course sharing. Cheers Alistair 👍
6:45 Narrow boats not barges. Loving your photos and content. Might bump into you in the Dales in the new year. Might have to make a stop at Saltaire too. 😊
I was going to say that but wanted to appeal to a wider audience so avoided the technicalities 😚😚 Both the Dales and Saltaire are definitely due a revisit soon. Cheers Andrew 👍👍
Hi James, the last time I was shooting around Saltaire was late evening/night just after rain the cobbles looked great around the train station. A great place to shoot.
Love these type of black and white moody images, very Dickensian but evoke a real sense of history and nostalgia. Have recently discovered your channel and love the approach you take and mix of landscape and urban.
Thank you Nick and hope you enjoy the channel. The Dickensian feel was exactly the result I wanted, helped along by the fog that day. Hope to return to the place shortly
I really enjoyed taking a trip around Saltaire with you James. You made your video so interesting by telling us the history of the place and there is definitely an award winning image in that collection. They are stunning. Who knows, maybe Saltaire will host an exhibition of your work some day.
I really enjoyed this video James. Those gritty mono images reminded me of one of the first photographic collections I bought - Shadows of light by Bill Brandt. Some of his urban images really influenced my interest in mono photography. I look forward to more of these photo essays, I think you are really good at them. Thanks.
Thanks Keith. I’ll certainly be doing more of this style. Bill Brandt and of course Kenna influenced me with a recent purchase of ‘Northern England’ 👍👍
Some fantastic images James, it's a great location down by the canal with the old Mills, even better in the mist 👍 Really enjoyed watching this one and watching the urban series around Bradford.
A very enjoyable watch indeed! I’ve just sent you a message to take me to see Fanny please. Serious now, great to see a large collection of wonderful images!
Really enjoyed this. I wanted to go to Saltaire last time I was visiting family in Clitheroe, but just couldn’t fit it in. Another day! Q: what time of day were you there? (Sorry if you said and I missed it)
Very interesting video James, with some fantastic images, thanks for sharing.

Great video with some cracking images James. As a Bradford lad myself really appreciated that.
I knew I recognised that Bradford accent! Glad it brought it home to you Nev, cheers 👍👍
Great shots James! I always seem to end up in a wood when it's foggy but this has inspired me give cities a go next time!

Allan Jeffries! That’s take me back! I got my Grifter from Ellis Briggs, the bike that weighed as much as a motorbike with no engine 😬👍
Lovely pictures
Not been there for to many years will need to make a visit soon some lovely photos
Thanks Alan. A special place 👍👍

I like that idea. I can just imagine the available light bouncing off the cobbles. Cheers Paul 👍
