@bluex217 You don't use xlr cables for passive speakers, xlr cables are for low power signals only. You use speakon cables when connecting an amp to a speaker. Most speakers will have two sockets on the back for connecting speakon cables. Run a cable from your amp to one of your speakers and then another speakon cable from the other terminal on the speaker into the next speaker. Make sure your amps are able to operate well with the load your putting on them without overheating. Hope that helps!
Infact while im commenting, don't know if many other dj's are like this, but i was always taught to put the amps on full and then just control everything from the mixer/sound desk, so if the mid and top was too high, then change it at the mixer and leave the amp on full.
Dude i think you are awesome and love your vids and the non edited aspect of them as well so much fun and learning a lot threw ur djing vids, just so happened to stumble upon this vid again u are awesom id love to hang out and have drinks and talk music one day cheers my friend all the way from newfoundland canada
very good that subwoofers are put together as one block (left, middle or right) otherwise you'll get severe bass cancel-out at every spot of the room except the very middle plane!
It is in the wiring just like a car system if you re-arrange the wires you can make two 4ohm subs into 8ohm's if you wire the speakers properly, I do not recommend but it is possible.
@FANNYLEROUX That how concert PA's are run, amps full, everything from the desk, Crossover set to compensate if requires, and 31Band Eq to minipulate the frequencies that stand out too much. or don't suit the room.
@indianchipmunk2 you can use the 80w@6ohms but don't turn it up to the end, then you will blow your speaker. normaly you can also use a 60w@4ohms (more ohms are not the problem, less is not good)
Okay Jonathan, would you recommend rather having the mixer turned up and the amp(s) fairly low or the amps up and the mixer down low (like you have in the vid)? Or does it matter at all? Thanks in advance for answering :) Alex
@MisterOwen1 Standard sub should be crossedover at 200Hz, and mids should start at the same point, on some mid-top drivers tho the crossover might need to be set at 300hz, so theres a gap between 200-300hz, some drivers don't reproduce the 250hz properply. Any questions don't hesitate to ask, this setup is used on my companies system for 2x 18" W bins a side and 2x Dual 12" +2" horn a side. to cover upto 500 ppl. with 120dB at 30M away
can you please do a video explaining the difference between linkwitz Riley and butterworth bessel filters when using a speaker management controller as I can't find any videos explaining the difference or how to use them for say a 2 way setup
Love the track Ellaskins! However, on the technical and educational side of things I hear many say that they hook up their top/highs and bass to their amplifier but the signal will allways go from the CDJs - Mixer- Amplier and out to the speakers and not the other way around. (that is why the outputs are labeled outputs and not inputs. I really got confused in the begining with that so I just want to clarify it a bit. Keep making great content Ellaskins! Cheers, FLX
the impedance depends on parallel or series for example: 8 parallel 8 = 4 8 series 8 = 16 but you know that btw if you know about amps try to build one
Great video! I just bought a wharfedale amp mp 2800 and a lx-18b wharfadale single 18 subwoofer, i live in Houston Texas USA and had no knowledge of such brand, i also have 3 behringer europower ep2500 for years that im familiar with, how does Wharfadale compare in quality, any insight would be much appreciated as I have tried looking up info and havent found much.
Cables... Just use balanced cables. Jack or XLR or whatever, just balanced. The good thing about quality XLR is that they sit tightly and don't fall out.
+Daniel Brooks Hi! To my understanding, you will have speakon out from the bass amps one channel (Speakon = speaker cable) into the one Delta 218 (The bass bin box with two woofers in) and the speakon out from the bass amps other channel to the other Delta 218. Since these are dual woofer boxes, both woofers can be powered by inserting a single speakon cable, and you will be running at 4 ohm 1600W RMS per bass bin (Box). The tops are run similarly from the mid/high amp, but in this case a speakon cable will go out from one channel on amp, into first speaker, then out from that speaker into second speaker. The same is done on the other channel, making it 4 speakers, 4 ohm per channel and I thiiiink 1000W RMS per channel if I remember the delta tops specs
Do a video on how to setup a PA with a seperate compressor/limiter/gate like fx. the DBX 166 XL .. i have worked with a 266 XL from DBX, but i always had to call the nearby Dansk Lyd og Lys pro sound technician, to setup the DBX.. even though, its a great piece of equipment, if you like us here at Denmark 3. largest dorm, have a lot of young guys starting as DJ in our up-to-250 people audience Dorm Bar.. The DBX simply limits the chance of hazarding or ruining the speakers.
Powering the amps up first on a couple of Kw rig will blow something to shit when you turn your mixer on if you've got the amps' levels up. Most amps have speaker protection built in which protects your speakers against destructive surges on big rigs when you power up, so powering up the amps with their levels up should be fine if you have the output of your mixer down when you power them up as long as everything up-stream is on first.
@latheck2 No i am right... I'm going on the companies own spec on their product so unless they arnt showing me the correct spec on their website I'm pretty sure its correct. The site actually states that the sensitivity at 1w at 1m is exactly the same as the max spl which is said to be 100db. There is only a hand full of high-end subs on the market that can produce SPL levels of 130 and above :)
Is there an reason if you got an known good input and no signal to turn them on with no volume)? I got two pa amps and I set the volumes and leave them at one spot. Although its for home use but professinal grade amps.
Hello, I'm a mobile DJ and humbly need your advice on this. I DJ most at weddings. Please I really want to improve on my sound output. I have a single Sub-woofer, two double speakers and two single speakers too. I just want ask if is necessary or helpful for me to buy a crossover and a graphic equalizer?? Hope to here from you soon.
+DeeJay John - Nwamary A. Hi! A graphic eq might not be the first thing you would want to buy, but a crossover definitely would make a huge difference in your setup - remember you get active and passive crossovers - although I would recommend an active crossover any day of the week
Consult your *mixer* manual for how to connect the wires correctly, if still not getting any range then you need to use amps or active speakers that can give out 400w continuous..
I would like to know more about those 18 inch subwoofers, have you actually got them to hit 30hz like the spec sheet says? How do u program that without a 31 band graphics equaliser? Only asking cus I'm thinking of getting some as the 30hz low end they claim is appealing.. Not a lot of speakers can hit that kind of low end!
Hi! Can you sew that the wharfedale dlx series can be a disk or cast basket? I don't want any information about it.dlx-215 but I don't know what basket ...
Being a former Wharfdale seller in the States, it just never caught on. The stuff that we got was cutrate crap or stupid heavy and overpriced. I'm sure Wharfdale has good gear, but I never saw any. Long Live Yorkville.
i have a behringer eq, behinger composer and crossover... Coming from the mixer which one should go first? Also , i am running 2 jbl mrx500 subs ( using beringer erpo power 400 ) and 2 jbl jrx125 double 15 (using beringer europower 2500 ). Do u think them amps are power enough fro these speakers
Ellaskins mate.....I've got 4 of those Wharfedale Delta 218B dual 18" subs and I power mine with two Proline 3000 amplifiers with one sub channel of each amplifier, those Wharfedale amplifiers you have can't continuously output their rated power full bandwidth the power rating is a 1khz rating and the power in the sub frequency range is way down. You should do what I do and power your Delta 218 subs with a Proline 3000 amp. They really are brilliant amps, they're HEAVY AS HELL but my god they can output their rated power.
I am aware of that but now that I can afford to have a amp for each cabinet I prefer doing that. for example if I have a dual 18 cabinet with 2 18" 600 watt subs I would run a crown xti 4002 in mono Not Bridge & give each woofer the proper power.
Very nice track! But there's a wrong information. When you driving a double 8Ohm woofer per channel, then the load at the amp is 4Ohm per channel (1400W). Seems to be a nice setup! ;-)
it splits the frequences to the bass and the mid/high freqs and then the subs only get the low freqs and the tops get the mid/high freqs ... sorry for my bad english
Great video, but you are severely under driving those subs mate. That amp puts out 950w per channel at 4 ohms, those subs run continuously at 1600 watts. Those amps are perfect if you bridge them and run 1 per sub. You should always overdrive speakers and then do everything to ensure they do not clip or distort. I have a few of those subs (the DLX version, identical drivers) each running a bridged Samson SX3200 per sub. You genuinely would not believe how much sound they produce, safely as well.
Is that still the church kind of house you are living in, Jonathan? How did that fund raising go, that you did like 2 years ago? Did you eventually got to stay in the house had back then?
@indianchipmunk2 if you know what you do you could try to link the speakers. so you go from one channel of the amplifier with + in your first speaker (+) and go from - of your first speaker into + of your second speaker, the - of the second speaker into the - of the amp, the same channel you insert the first speaker. so you have mono sound with 80watt@12ohms. shit... forget what I said ;) It is impossible to turn everything up to the end without anything damaging.
Hi there, hope u can help. I'm running peavey pro15 tops and Peavey Pro Messenger subs which have built in cross overs.. I now have 2 amps which I want to use instead of using 1 amp. Both my amps are capable of running each pair but how do I connect all up. I'm so confused listening to all the videos on here. Hope somebody can help. I'm using the soundcraft fx8 desk, berhinger amp and a thomann ta1400 amp , how do I connect all
Hi hope you can help? I've got 2 Wharfedale Delta 18b subs (800w rms @ 8 ohms) and 2 Delta 15 tops. I have a Kam KXR1500 to power the tops, and a Kam KXR2000 amp (4 ohms) to power the subs, all via a crossover. Problem is the KXR2000 is clipping ad getting very hot at only two thirds power. Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks.
hey can i run 4 1800 w 8 ohm speakers by connecting the two speakers on each side like the way you did and then feeding both the channels into a 3000 w per channel 4 ohm amp?
@@SamWall No, each sub will get 1500w theoretically. 2 per side, amp can do 3000 per side. Still not ideal as headroom will be next to none at loud volumes but it'll work.

@MisterOwen1 depends on the speakers , but general rule of thumb is cross over at anything from 80 to 100hz... above for mid top!
@FANNYLEROUX agree, but in a small room i do like the idea of keeping the ceiling in one piece and not having it on the ground in bits...lol :)
@FANNYLEROUX switchmode are ok for mid top but tend to loose fidelity once they start to get hot or are run for bass
@Streamtronics 4 ohm for each. bass = 4 ohm and then 2 x mid top @8 ohm each will bring it down to 4 ohm so each amp has a 4 ohm load each side
Just wanted say, You've come along way brother! Followed you for years now, great job as always.

Hey, ive recently got into djing and your videos are awesome! Thanks for all the time you put into your videos helping new people like me to learn :D
@a2dds nope wrong ;) the max SPL for the Delta 218B is 138 dB. its the sensitivity thats 100 db/w/m, which is acutally very good!
i love your tutorials....thanks alot for the giggles i get whi
le learning

god, your rigs are so perfect man...
loving these videos.. keep it up J!
can you please do a video explaining the difference between linkwitz Riley and butterworth bessel filters when using a speaker management controller as I can't find any videos explaining the difference or how to use them for say a 2 way setup
Mega sound system! I’d love to learn to dj but my father has similar equipment with decks so I’m sorted
i frickin love your videos dude they make my day
Love the track Ellaskins!

i love sound thanks this video i plan to build like this set up. i am from philipines
Very nicely done as always, those PA's sound very nice must check in on them. Thanks and take care *L*

@ellaskins So are these new ipr switchmode? Ive only ever seen pics of them and saw in the title the word "lightweight" and thought.... perfect! lol

@ellaskins how do you go out of one speaker into another wirth XLR cables? a male to female ?
Great vid.... was really great getting to meet you at bpm!! is that pa system yours ? it looks rather impressive
Why you don't turn amps on with volume up? Does it cause a pop sound in the speakers and could break them?
my dream pa system.

Ellaskins wow. So one 4ohm are chnnal like one chnnal be 4ohm. So what the R.M.S is on the bass sperker?
Oh you've wired them in series - sweet!
dj school what i wanna come learn dub step and all the euro techno stuff for sure
how much?
nicley done J knew you were looking at the speakers cant belive you managed to get the amps as well ;-)
can you please tell me what is the title of the music you use thanks
Thanks for the video

How much did the audio cost?
How much did the amplifiers cost?
What was the song name from 3:15???
Hritik Prabhakar Michael Jackson - Off The Wall (Secret Sun Remix)
Dude, with those subwoofers max bass audio you can wreck that building!!!
Nice!
did you sandpaper the CDJs?
does the subwoofers have 3'' or 4'' voice coils ?? nice vid, i love wharfedale !
Fantastic setup! please song name 3;44
@DJfive5six not sure, but worth you googling the company litestructures com
hey can we get those killer tables in the USA
Is that still the church kind of house you are living in, Jonathan? How did that fund raising go, that you did like 2 years ago? Did you eventually got to stay in the house had back then?

Thanks.
whata bout if you dont have a mixer and use a laptop to dj (softare- virtual dj)
@coleman2k3 google lite console
got 1 of the subs love them
if you wire them parallel the impedance is the half....and if you wire them in series the impedance is twice ;)
hey can i run 4 1800 w 8 ohm speakers by connecting the two speakers on each side like the way you did and then feeding both the channels into a 3000 w per channel 4 ohm amp?
@@SamWall No, each sub will get 1500w theoretically. 2 per side, amp can do 3000 per side.
Still not ideal as headroom will be next to none at loud volumes but it'll work.
Bro if I use a speakon splitter can I run two subs in the bridge mode. Just making sure
If MP2800 is distributing 1400watts each channel and the 1 twin subs is at 1600watts shouldn't the volume of each amp channel be at full?
I didn'T catch the name of the track playing in this video, can somebody pls tell me, its awesome!! :D
Im looking for a system all in a bundle plz help
PLEASE reply, how have that delta dual 18''s been working out for you?
Nice bass! :)
Where did you buy your Setup?
3:15 song?
that's a great sound system for dee jay.
how does 2 x 8 = 16Ohms? How does that work please mate?
nice work!
Hi I would like to know how many people can you maybe entertain with 2X15 delta tops and 1xdual 18" delta sub. Please any one!!! Tx
What do you set the subs crossover to
80 to100hz is fine
How many watts for subwoofer?
