Oh boy I've died and gone to G12 Heaven. Listen to that baby growl as the Engineer notches up. I love it. The NZ DA's had an idler wheel between the four driving axles to help distribute the weight over the light rails on some of the branch lines. Thank you thank you Railroader62 for the wonderful insight into Scandinavian railways.
I read somewhere that when this engine first operated into some small port town over there in the dead of winter the locals, upon hearing that horn for the fist time all said "Isn't it a little early in the year for the icebreaker to already be arriving?"
There are thousands of EMD's in America (and Australia) that sound like this! GP7, GP9, SD9, SD38-2, F7's, E9's, E8's and dozens of other types I cant remember. Its a such a shame that us Brits associate the class 66 with everything else as they are missing out on some fine EMD machinery.
Railroader62 i had a look at this vid and it's some fine work you did i know you said it almost looks like a Da class but it kind of looks like a MK I T Class used by the Victorian Railways in Australia too
Wonder if they have ever given the locomotives horns a proper American two longs, a short, and a long for the railroad crossings in Sweden? Probably would confuse the natives ;)
0:15 is just awesome. The sound of that 2-stroke diesel engine is overwhelming...

Favourited!
The v-8 of the G8b sounds swell but I have to admit the v-12 here is the BOSS,and boss of Bass. The v-16 comes in last.

I remember seeing it once it visited the railway museum in Odense, apart from the buffers it apears like a North Amreican locomotive.
