If you are thinking about buying land to place your airstream or other tiny home be sure to watch this next video first so you don't make a mistake 👉 th-cam.com/video/cseVEa2PfsY/w-d-xo.html
I don't think they are 'over-priced' for a mobile home that will last for several decades. They may be out of the budget of many would be purchasers, however, their craftsmanship and durability puts them far ahead of the rest of the market. Some modern RV's cost half a million and don't last ten years without serious maintenance and attention. Thanx for posting!
Airstreams are a hard pill to swallow and an even harder product to recommend to most because as you said they are out of most people's budgets. But if someone is looking for a top-of-the-line product that will last then 100% as you said airstreams are the way to go. I have seen some of those half a million luxury rv's as I was doing research for this video and they are absolutely bonkers lol!!!
Thank You brother! - i no longer have to ask myself that question - they are iconic & I would LOVE to have one of my own - none like them - no comparison - appreciate your research - Blessings
I'm so overwhelmed, this is all a new world for me and i feel like i just keep finding out more and more the longer I do research. Thanks for posting videos like this though. They help clear things up for me.
I'm happy to help! Just breathe and keep doing your research. That's the best way to go about all of this. Just keep watching videos and thinking critically and over time slowly begin to zero in on what type of glamping, tiny home, or unique structure you want.
The vintage Airbnb redesigns and transformations look way better than the inside of a stock airstream to me lol. I probably wouldn't buy a new one off the lot and would go straight to buying an older one and gut renovating it.
Good question! I guess that is what it's all about, passing down wealth and assets. How awesome would that be if your grandparents left you a vintage airstream.
Great vid! Short & informative. Researching resell value. Does value depreciate. This helped answer that a bit. Gonna dig up some numbers. Will love to hear more Airbnb numbers as we consider buying a land in the mountains for this trailer.
Thanks for watching! Good luck to you on your land purchase. I have some videos coming that explain my personal airbnb numbers so please subscribe to see them as they release in the coming weeks.
Great little mini documentary. Before watching this I realized I actually didn't know anything about Airstreams. Nice story, and I love things that are built with quality.
I own an Avion which is very similar to an Airstream and lived in it for a year while I was renovating a cabin in the California Desert. I bought it from an elderly couple in Yuma, Arizona. It's built like an old airplane.
Love these things and always have. I had a chance to buy one 10 years ago. It was a great price and before I got my family into RV’ing. I didn’t do it and it’s one of my biggest regrets.
My Dad purchased one. It's like having a Ferrari in the driveway. They are designed like older planes. Forming the aluminum is more difficult that putting up straight walled panels like the competition.
Thanks for the comment and supporting the channel! You are the first person to notice that it isn't in ANY of my descriptions. I do this on purpose actually, I have made the decision to keep this channel as far away from my listings as possible. I am worried about some of the hate comments i see here actually effecting me real business (which is airbnb).
Not overpriced and overrated if the quality is there, and if you can afford one. We love our Airstream and expect this RV to be around for the next 30-50 years - can't say that for most other RV's. 🙂
Overpriced compared to the competition? They have no competition. Nothing else on the market today built like them. Most of the "SOB's" (some other brand) are junk after 5 or 10 years if you use it a lot. Love Em!!!
@@KeepItTiny Yep, there expensive. But, maybe not. Bought new 2107 Airstream International 23D for $60k in May, 2017. 2 years and 24K miles later we sold it for $63K!! Then bought a 2019 Airstream Flying Cloud 25 Rear Bed Twin for $71K. This trailer had an MSRP of $90K. Fantastic deal, but those deals are not out there anymore. We figure our $$$$ is safer with the Airstream than buying an SOB. Ya just got to bite the bullet. Ya only live once and you can't take it with you. Enjoy life while you can.
I feel like it definitely has that classic americana vibe, and you can't really ignore the brand stature airstream has but I can't say if it's worth the 100K+ price tag
These are really the best, by the best craftspeople and the best product with what else is out there. I own one and love it. Metal on the outside, the frame, and all else is really top of the line and worth the investment. Did I say "investment", yes I did. You don't lose money value and later you could even make money off a sale. Hard to come by and well worth it! Take care and safe travels. Dave.
NOTHING comes even close! There is a reason they hold there value like a rock! Like the ole adage says…you get what you pay for. And that definitely applies here.
So basically they're the L.L Bean of the RV world: they're more expensive because they're made to last. You're getting what you pay for, not just a brand name. Sounds fair to me. I may even get one some day for that reason. In this day and age of planned obsolescence and subpar craftsmanship in consumer goods, this is like a breath of fresh air from the past, when more companies built things to last. I was just telling someone, it isn't just about saving money, it's about getting things that last because the coming depression will no doubt make things harder to replace and repair.
A decent video, but they aren't overpriced or overrated if they're worth it as you say. So, expensive and highly rated, yes. But, overpriced and overrated, no.
I like how he says everyone wants to buy an airstream trailer so they can get it on the Airbnb market and make a ton of money. The reality is a new airstream trailer will cost you around $125,000. Yes even if you can get $200 a night for it are you seriously going to rent it out for hundreds and hundreds of nights at the risk of the whole Airbnb fad getting regulated and taxed beyond belief? If you think Airbnb fad will be around five years from now you’re probably mistaken, good luck with that loan you got to buy the airstream trailer in the first place.
Keep in mind, Thor bought Airstream. Expect the quality to plummet. It's the kiss of death for every RV company they touch. I have a few friends that have older Airstreams. They are very hot inside. Too many wrap around windows. They have an arrogant attitude from the company. "Don't like it? You aren't Airstream material". Look at them, they are the Delorian of the RV world. and $160k for an RV that would cost 60k from anyone else?
I am picking up my 2nd one that is coming off the line tomorrow very soon. This will be replacing the 2020 model I bought new a couple of years ago. I am not rich by any means. I just lived my life far under my income level and saved a lot over the years.
So cool to see the different perspectives here. I personally think airstreams are really cool and worth it if you can afford it or put your mind to saving up to get one.

Well said! They are iconic and worth the price. Before researching for this video i was always curious why people loved them so much, now i know.
I'm so overwhelmed, this is all a new world for me and i feel like i just keep finding out more and more the longer I do research. Thanks for posting videos like this though. They help clear things up for me.

I'd love to have one of these. People keep doing some really cool transformations with the older models. Great video, i learned alot.
The vintage Airbnb redesigns and transformations look way better than the inside of a stock airstream to me lol. I probably wouldn't buy a new one off the lot and would go straight to buying an older one and gut renovating it.
oooh fun video!! I wonder how many airstream owners got theirs from their parents/grandparents 🤔🤔

Glad you enjoyed it! Before i went down the rabbit hole on airstreams i didnt know much either. All i knew was they were the big shiny RV's.

My Dad purchased one. It's like having a Ferrari in the driveway. They are designed like older planes. Forming the aluminum is more difficult that putting up straight walled panels like the competition.
What’s your Airbnb listing name ? Can’t seem to find it in any of ur videos description box. Ur content is great btw

Ohh ok makes sense. I’m surprised I’m the first lol . I completely understand n lowkey figured it was intentional
I found a 26', '63 Land Yacht while doing foreclosures.

I personally don't think it's worth it but to each their own!
i love em. def want one one day.
I could def see you with an airstream! Making bank off of it too!
I bought my first AS in April. I sold it 90 days later and lost no money. I just put money down on a new AS International. You get what you pay for.

lol i love when people are passionate! I hear you man, my research says you are right. The problem is the price, yikes it hurts.

yeah $100 thousand dollars is a bit much no matter how good the product is.

Airstream owners are absolutely crazy about these things and for good reason! Thanks for the comment and supporting my channel.
I think you are trying to show both sides of the coin here but I don't care - I would never buy one of these things. its just not worth it.
What would you buy sir ? Lots of choices trying to narrow it down
If you have one it attracts a lot of people in your neighborhood. People point and stare. Kids like riding and looking at it from their bikes.

Living Vehicle builds a great Trailer with the ability to produce it's own water.

Thor has owned Airstream for over 40 years, educate yourself.
Airstream is rv life for rich people

Did anybody else catch his freudian slip? At 3 minutes, 11 seconds in. Just saying. Lol.
lmao i just rewatched the video just to see what you were talking about. I guess i had something else on my mind lol.
Using robots to build might be better in terms of of quality
I don't get the hype. I mean it is not all that attractive to me lol
