    Thank you! I figured the stem was the place to install it but wanted to be sure. Your video is concise and clearly shows what to do. All the others spend 5 minutes talking about nothing and have poor video angles.

    You'll need an adapter for systems with 134a in them and if any others use the new threads on the hose nuts. I have a wagner valve that is the same design and lost the instructions, I wish you had shown more of them in this video. I had forgotten after piercing the pipe you remove the top of the piercing pin. Using an adapter it doesn't matter. I would put a plastic port cap on when finished for extra seal insurance.

    I used to sell these saddle valves. One thing you do not want to do is goo too far in with the puncture to where if the system is under pressure the Shrader valve is stuck. That do happen.

    • @markg6860
      @markg6860 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The best saddle valves are triangular in shape and do not use a Schrader valve ... they have a R12/R22 port. The piercing needle acts as the valve and you leave it screwed all the way in to keep the line sealed. You only unscrew the piercing needle when your can of R134a and gauge is attached, ready for re-charging.

    Most refrigerators/freezers are R600a now. How do you add Freon to R600a or do you switch the whole system to R134a?

    • @lonniesmith104
      @lonniesmith104 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're still able to see this then here's the answer: You asked most refrigerators are R600a now. How do you add Freon to R600a? Or do you switch the whole system to R134a? There are over 300 types of Freon gasses. Most straight forward answer is (in big bold letters:) You can NOT mix refrigerants. Only a system built for R600a can take R600a. You cannot remove R600a and add R134a. Not only is it illegal, it just wont work. There are NO drop in replacements for different kinds of gasses. I just got my epa 608 certification and finished an advanced refrigeration course. That's one of the questions they ask you 8). However, if you mean by switching the whole system over. Compressor, evaporator, condenser, etc that takes R134a I would think it would be quicker and cheaper just to get a unit built for that kinda of gas anyway...

      @hsnwfl7766 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lonniesmith104 they don't tell you what kind of freon, until you get the new refrigerator in you house and you look. I called and it seemed like no one around here knew how to fix a R600 freon refrigerator.

    At :11 Seconds in there's an additional "O-Ring" sitting next to the allen key, Is this the same o-ring you show on the back of the tap or a different one? What's the purpose of this second O-ring?

    • @blaketuberepairreviews7790
      @blaketuberepairreviews7790  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know it is just an extra every one comes with it and it is the same as the one on the valve so maybe if you ever use the same valve again you can have a fresh o ring. If anyone knows different please tell I have often wandered this for myself, because there is no reference to it in the instructions.

    • @lechnerjable
      @lechnerjable 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I've concluded it is just a spare as well. It's nice that they gave you an extra seal but as you suggest it makes it confusing that it's not mentioned.

    • @DanWebster
      @DanWebster 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      this is a tap that fits diff size tubing 1/4, 5/16 you needa make sure you use correct back plate and appropriate o ring and sand the tubing as well before install to insure a tight seal.

      @mmpiforall5913 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BigShark700 Charging is always to the LOW side of the compressor. If you replaced parts or brazed up a leak, etc, you'll need to use a vacuum pump for 45 minutes to evacuate system so no air is left inside when you finally add freon or it won't work right. The vacuum pump does not need to be big but at least show 27-28 inches of vacuum when you are done. A vacuum leak-down-test tells you if there is still a leak without wasting refrigerant. I then like to do a pressure test with CO2 gas and see if pressure drops, then pull out CO2, then vacuum again before adding refrigerant, that way you know you got it right before you finish the job.

      It doesnt matter what hose you use because the high and low pressure hose have same rated capacity

    • @markg6860

      That is a regular hose attached to a gauge and R134a can. There is no high and low pressure hose ... simply a hose with an R12/R22 connector.
