Went here for a school trip back in 71. Had nightmares for years. I was only 5. Now I’m 59, would love to go back.

Well done. In the 1960s, the Tar Pits were a school field trip.

It's really cool it's just a shame tht it's all built up around it! Should be more room to preserve the area but non the less it really cool!

Brea is actually Spanish for "tar". So why don't we just call it the Tar Tar Pits?

They didn't show the Dire wolf wall? Or just wolves? I don't remember. Lotsa wolf skulls. Or the display were you can pull on the tar and see what it would be like to try to pull your leg out. Anyway good otherwise.

It would take hours to cover the museum fairly. Best to see it in person if you can.

@@edwardhanson3664 Yeah i dont remember making that comment. Must have been in a bad mood LOL. Last time i went to the museum was in like 1994 i think. If i end up going to southern cali, La Brea Tar pits is definitely on my list of things to see.

So how does oil (supposedly degraded dinasours), preserve dinasours? Maybe oil really isn't from dinasours.....it's a mineral....

There aren’t dinosaurs in these pits. These bones go back 50,000 years, with most being in the 15,000 range

It’s a shame these ppl are allowed to interpret the story/age of their findings.
I don’t want a controlled puppet being in charge of determining the age or origin of ANYTHING
(Notice they are fully masked OUTSIDE like good pawns)
Can we get some ppl there with common sense

That's a great question. Humans were in the Americas by then. There must be some of them represented in the fauna.
