- In this video I talk about what gear and clothes I take on an overnight hiking or backpacking adventure in South Africa. I also discuss a few budget alternatives that I have found work well.

I LOVED the video. Thank you so much Ruth!!
You've mentioned quite a few things that I didn't think of.
Again, Thank you... 😊
Next for me... Saving up for a 3 season tent..
Glad it was helpful! I hope you have a lot of fun hiking!
@@RoughingItWithRuth I've just packed my backpack. Without food and a gas canister it's weighing in at 9kgs.
Included in that is 2L of water.
Awesome Video! Thank you for sharing with us. Can't wait to see more 👍
Thank you!
Thank you so much, it was very helpful. please keep them coming.
Thanks!
Loved this Ruth...
Thank you!
@@RoughingItWithRuth oh pray please tell where you got the 2cm thick sleeping foam
0.23 - it ended up being 27 minutes 😀😀😀
Great video, Thanks
Yeah, total fail on the time management there 😂😂😂
Thank you
Great video Ruth... What are the pants called? They look really good on you, I must say. Hope they make for gents too.
The ones in this video are Arcteryx. Unfortunately they eventually fell apart as I was wearing them so much 😅 I now have stretchy hiking pants from KWay.
Very complete kit!! How much does it all weigh less food and water?? Your son is adorable! Hope he is always so sweet !👍🏻👍🏻😷
Thank you so much 🤗 To be honest, I have never weighed my kit without food and water. I always hike in a group, so some things like the tent get split up a bit. With food and water, I usually carry somewhere between 11 and 13 kilograms.
@@RoughingItWithRuth thanks Ruth, I didn't see this question or reply. No need to reply to mine posted later on.
Thanks so much for this, Ruth, I found it really helpful. What camera equipment do you use?
I mostly used a GoPro Hero Black 7 while hiking in this footage, but I now also use a point-and-shoot Sony RX100 Mk7 to supplement the GoPro footage.
Try the first ascent helio tent
I've actually never tried the First Ascent tents (I own so many tents that I feel bad buying more!)
