Dr. Cellini, you’ve definitely made interventional radiology my second favorite specialty! Interventional Cardiology is definitely #1 for me but radiology is making a push for the top spot!
As an X-ray Technologist I can say , I love my job because you are still helping people but it's not for hours at a time like nursing. You see the patient, do the study then go to the next. Lots of challenging new equipment. Love the innovation.
@@drparisis I have recently stumbled upon the 73 Qs with a DR video and watched a few of your videos too, it's great to see you here spreading kindness Dr Parisis :D I'm an IMG and planning to get into Rad hopefully after a few years since im still in med school, wish me luck :)
Im only in my freshman year of HS, but im already so passionate about being a radiologist because of you. If I remember, ill come back to this comment when ive finally gotten into residency
As a vet student myself, I'm currently considering doing an internship and residency in radiology. Your video is not only helpful but also valuable. Thanks, Doc! I’m worried about losing work-life balance-not having weekends, regular meal times, etc. Working 12 hours every single day for years sounds insane and inhumane, I must say. I feel a bit (really) lost about which path to take for my future.
Your update video makes me feel very happy with my choice of going back to school this year. finished Spring and now in my second class for summer. Im hoping this time next year i will apply for med school for the radiology program in my city.
Watching your videos as a medical student, I really got an interest in radiology, and I think I found the specialty that fits me the most. Thank you doc for the important information and I hope you keep being creative.
❗️Video idea: A series of short videos about the Interventional Radiology procedures you perform most often, or the ones you prefer. "Top 5 IR procedures. With little hand drawings like you did once, or whatever. This would allow us to better imagine what you do concretely ahaha
My wife did a full residency in FP. One of the guys in the class 1 year ahead of her finished and became my dad's PCP on our recommendation. That didn't last long, he left FP to go do another residency in Radiology. He got his life back!
I’ve found the anxiety in radiology and especially in IR has increased quite a lot as acute stroke management has evolved. Due to the nature of the disease it generally means putting everything else on hold, and of course it means we’re in at night pretty much all the time. I’ve learned to really enjoy my diagnostic radiology days.
I have to say your original video on "Why Radiology" reinvigorated my desire to become a physician and sparked my interest in radiology, so it hurts to see you bash it lol
You probably would cringe at how many folks ask non-med strangers to help decipher their imaging and lab results because their PCPs can't. I always tell them to find a new doctor or ask for a specialist referral. Do radiologists accept appointments to translate their readings into normal speak and answer simple related questions?
I watched your first video and now watched this video because your the first account to show when I search up Radiology residency. I justed passed my national licensure examination and now planning to undergo Radiology residency. Thank you Doc for your videos I'm going to binge watch these so that I have a clue on what I will go through.
I didn’t know interventional radiology existed until last year when I was in need of one! I had a bilateral pulmonary embolism and needed catheter- directed TPA. I also had catheter-directed thrombectomy for my leg DVT. AND I had angioplasty and a stent placed for iliac compression syndrome. My interventional radiologist is the best❤️
I’ve watched this video 3 x now lol. Opening is hilarious. I saw that older video. I am really considering radiology. I like that you decided to make this video and I’m really thankful. Keep being awesome doc. 🤙
I have to say I see it more so. I ended up in hospital over the weekend and had a comparative mri with contrast to see what's going on my back. I just want to say thank you for all you do.
How can I find a radiologist who will review an MRI with a patient? I cannot find anyone in my state and the radiologist who gave the original report refuses to discuss with patients.
I watched this video time and time again thank you for creating this channel i really appreciated it! It helped me with motivation , knowledge about the field and everything. And i finally matched into Radiology ! Greetings from Dr. Betül Çelikbaş / Ankara/ Turkıye !🎉🎉🎉
Love the fact that you are so hyped about your work! I think that over the years I have experienced most of the equipment that you use. My thing that I dislike the most is MRI over a dozen. No problem with CT Scans, guided biopsy, with contrast, X-rays etc. most painful one a lumbar disc injection on two discs OMG when he injected the dye thought I was going to pass out......thank you for what you do 🙏🙏🙏
I'm sitting my final high school exams and I've decided to revisit this topic after almost two years of seeing the first video. The idea of radiology slowly drifted away as I became flustered with the overwhelming variety of healthcare pathways. But I'm back to this... and I'm convinced all over again. I think it's a sign lol :))
Premed here. Do you feel like you’re missing out on some of the patient interaction present in other specialities? I love everything you’re saying about radiology, but when you “see a patient,” you don’t really SEE the patient and engage in that interaction. Would love to hear your thoughts!
It's a really motivating video and right on time since we USMLE takers deal with so much burn out... Thank you for that! All the information on the internet is really generous about radiologists' salaries. I was wondering, is it just because those salary infos are not just for diagnostic radiologists but also for interventional radiologists? Is there a huge salary gap between those two branches?
U obviously picked what s best for u. Always shows your excitement . Alot of Pros in your field. I just 💘seeing you. So much positivity and education!👏👏
my wildest dream is to get your recommendation while applying for residency. I am an Ethiopian doctor currently working in radiology department in isreal studying for Usmle! I am putting it out there so it will manifest itself lol... well am loyal subscriber and love your content
Hey Dr. Cellini, I think I'd love radiology, but I'm a little concerned about the lack of patient interaction. I think I'd appreciate patient interaction in my future profession, but it seems like there isn't much of that in radiology. What are your thoughts on the matter? How much patient interaction do you get in DR or IR? Was that important for you going into radiology?
First! Only 11 reasons? Come on you can do better than that Doc! Jokes aside thanks for saving the afternoon here in Sweden going to enjoy this video now
Hi Dr. C, Just had a few introductory meetings into the field in school, and I noticed something crazy. Apparently the average STEP1 score for the 2021 match was a 252 (or 251 if I'm forgetting). That is up approximately 10 points from last year, which is insane. Any thoughts?
You mentioned the awesome perk of working from home. Do you have to be in private practice to do this or can you work in any type of practice to do this?
Would you recommend doing a year of surgery before applying for radiology? Currently doing research as med stud in orthopaedics/radiology field. Finishing med school next summer. Thanks for the great vids!
hi, this might be a dumb question but, do radiologists have a higher chance of getting cancer due to exposure to radiation? I was considering going into radiology until "someone" told me this and I'm left hanging... 🤔😬
Hi dr. Cellini, i am a radiology resident, first year still. But i am struggling a lot now with memorizing and differentiating everything in imaging, like i had been blaming my anemia or even myself who is not smart enough. I also have been feeling worst dealing with seniority in the department. Now i wonder did i choose the wrong specialty? Because i have slow pace in understanding and working the routine imaging report. Did you ever feel like this on your resident year? If yes, how did you overcome that? I really need advice, because i sometimes feel like quitting. Thank you for reading this.
Hello. I also feel the same way at times, where I feel like I am not good enough as I have a slow pace of understanding things, but, did it get better?
Is that true? That the other clinicians are better in the radiology of their branches than the radiologists? e.g. ENT clinicians are better in the radiology of ENT than the radiologists?
Awesome video Dr Cellini , I am currently applying for the field of Radiology after 2 years in surgery. You mention creating content on different platforms. Except youtube what do you do more to be creative and do something different outside medicine? Regards
Do you have any area of radiology that can be done remotely? I love the field but don’t want to be in clinic every day, like hybrid option. Can anyone guide me here? Also, I cannot deal with blood or injections 😂. Appreciate your help.
when people say “you go into medicine for the money” 😂 they don’t really know how long it takes to get in and then to make real money!
Yes 👏👏👏
I'm no med student nor a doctor, but I now believe radiology is the best because of Dr. Cellini!
Dr. Cellini, you’ve definitely made interventional radiology my second favorite specialty! Interventional Cardiology is definitely #1 for me but radiology is making a push for the top spot!
