Powerful !! Young folks watching this of the newer generation!! This is what hiphop is truly about. If you want to be a rapper, rap about things that help your community or uplift us as a whole!
And dat’s da truth Ruth.
But what about rapping about things that make me look coooooool
Exactly! Not about how rich they are, how many women they've had and not about how much weed they smoke. Hip Hop is he natural format to bring up actual issues that minorities are facing, how to deal with them and how to elevate yourself.
I WAS THERE‼️This video brings back memories 😁
Maan, I wish I could relive those times again 🤔😁👍✌️💯
His sister is so proud of him… it’s really beautiful to see…
OMG THIS IS AMAZING
Chuck D one of the greatest MC’s ever. I don’t agree with everything Chuck says but I respect it and respect his right to have said view. That’s called being open minded. We need more of it these days.
I remember watching this in '89!
Me too
@@sarahsimpkins1311 A powerful, even radical film in '89.I think it's a film that had to be made. Casual, covert racism was very real and common, I fear it will always be, but like Spike and Chuck said, @We have to "Fight the power"!
Forefathers of the game
Been waiting
Amazing of how this music video (“Fight the Power" originally performed by Public Enemy featuring Flavor Flav for the motion picture 'Do The Right Thing' (1990) was iconic in Brooklyn, New York when I wasn't born until 1998.
89
@@laurenSmith-bf4fc you were born in the late 1980s when this happened. 😀
@@osagiee.guobadia-secondytc4624 wasn't born in 80s either

I kept trying to recognize the street reporter's voice. Sounds like Howard Stern right? Lol lol lol
Yea sounds like stern for sure
🙌🏾
I was 14😂❤
✊🏿♥️
1:39 Lol! The ever intrepid camera man!
Filmed in my old neighborhood of bedstuy
What music is playing in the background at 5:04, please?
They put Tawanna Bradley in the video smh
0:14 What does that mean "and it's theme song, appropriately enough, if performed by Public Enemy"? Why "appropriately enough"?
I think he was being sarcastic. That a group that is supposed to be an "enemy of the public" is associated with a movie called "Do The Right Thing". Just a guess.
I feel like we have lost a lot…. It’s sad
