I run cross country and do horses as well and my cross country coach said (something similar I cant remember exactly), "give it your all, because if you walk away from the race feeling like you had more to give, it is the worst feeling in the entire world, because even though it hurts, the pride and satisfaction knowing that you did it makes you forget all of the pain." I feel like this applies with horses and life in general as well

Carris Sorby maybe try getting a monty Roberts halter when leading if you have problems then but when ridding try and do it before if you now your horse is going to rear or after he rears turn him into tight circles it may also work for when your horse spins. But anytime your horse plays up turn them in tight circles they will learn if they play up they do work hope that helps

Not long ago, I had fallen and got dragged during an XC practice. After that I just couldn't get back on, I was terrified to get in the saddle. But then my friend rode my horse who had dragged me; and I just knew I needed to continue. So I got back on and I enjoyed it. Now I'm back into XC and show jumping 😘
I was about to give up one day cause I was scared but had been riding for 7 years. And my trainer said you have done so many amazing things and have worked so hard why give up now!!! I am now riding better than ever before and I feel amazing knowing I have a trainer who believes in me!!!💕💕💕
This isn’t about a fall or a confidence drop for me this is about not wanting to disappoint people. I’ve not had a good riding day in so long and I’m being pushed down by so many people to make themselves look better. the horse industry can be cruel and even at times just make you want to quit and it’s sad because you have so much love for the sport and you’ve spent your life in it and it’s disappointing how much of an effect it can have on you not just physically but mentally. I love videos like this stay strong to whoever has been feeling down about this I’m still figuring everything out and hoping to see the light at the end of the tunnel ❤️
I cried..that's so true u really make people not to give up on anything not only horse riding just anything..thanks for this! Now i know that i should never quit at anything! Especially if it's something that I want to do! ALL falls, rears, bucks they all hurt me..but I know for a fact that it will pay off now.. I know I will never give up on anything! Especially if I know that I have to work with a living thing/creature call it how you want! I just wanna say to other people too! That even though you break something or just fall off you are strong enough to handle it! So get back in the saddle and never give up! Because giving up on something means giving up on your life.. If you don't get back in the saddle, you will never go as far as possible, too see your work! And when you do it, you will be able to say "I did it" . 1 bruise won't stop us Equestrians!

This really spoke to me. I’m African American, and physically challenged, and I have loved horses since I can remember. I started riding at 14yo, and the bug only got stronger. When I told a friend of mine I wanted to compete he just laughed and said it would never happen. Several people didn’t take me seriously and didn’t think I would be accepted. But I did it. I was able to not only compete with able bodied riders, I went on to collect 4 great championships, 114 blue ribbons, and countless memories, and great friends and experiences. I also went on to judge horse shows for able bodied and disabled riders. “Doing it” has made my life worth living!
This is the most inspiring thing for me right now it makes me feel not alone♥I recently lost my confidence and it has been very hard for me and it feels like after all those days and hours and weeks and months and years of hard work are for nothing but i am determined to get back to where i was and to continue improving because i know that horseback riding is what i want to do for the rest of my life

I know it's been so long since this video came out and it showed up in my recommended at the time I needed it most. I'm going into high school next year and I've been riding for four years. A little while ago my parents told me that I needed to choose whether to continue to spend money on horseback riding or put money toward university, and I've been arguing with myself continuously, not knowing what to do. But this reminded me why I love this sport so much and why I'm willing to do anything to keep it. This is a beautiful video and thank you so much for sharing it.
I love this so much im actually speechless! Being an equestrian has always been hard for me because im the first person out of the many generations of my family who rides horses. I got the crazy idea in my head when i was 2 and i started riding just before my sixth birthday. ive been doing it for 9-10 years now and i can explain how much pain ive had to go through as an equestrian like all the other out there. I had to learn everything by myself since no one in my family had any experience. My 3 brothers like to tell me it easy, its not a sport, your weak, the horse does all the work, horses are stupid. Yeah that hurt like hell to hear those things but it made me push farther to where i want to be in the future.
I took a bad fall at my ridding school and landed on my back as soon as felt the floor I got up and help the pony and checked it over I went to school I couldn’t run for a couple of weeks that meant I could not ride my friends told me to stop ridding for a while even some of the people who was not the nicest to me told me to stop ridding for a while but I got back up a week later I told my friends and they said to me you really are strong
So I just missed a week of riding due to vacation and bad weather. It was really quite the shock to get back to my barn, see my horse, and realize just how much I missed her and how much of an impact she has on me

My mum and I used to ride when I was a child, then she had a prolapsed disc in her back and was told to never ride again. I stopped too. I decided to have a lesson, and take it back up again over a decade later. An equestrian who just had spinal surgery convinced her to too. She’s just restarted and is loving every minute of it. I haven’t seen her this happy in a very long time. She’s so much better in all aspects of her life, in both mental and physical health and even in her relationships. Thank you, equestrians.

Thank you for making this video, recently a lot of stuff is weighing down on me and other equestrians at my barn really don't make it any easier. It's so easy to just give up and forget but why should I? When you've come all this way with your best friend of 10 years through thick and thin, just for someone to think they can stop you by being petty and not understanding your situation. Don't let anyone stop you from being happy, years my horse has given me, he's carried me on his back. He's getting old now and I just want a nice relaxing place to keep him at for the rest of his life, safe and happy. I will not give in and I certainly will not give up. I love him so much and I appreciate everything he's done for me as a person. He deserves the world and yet all I can give him is love a safe place to live. Why can the equestrian world be so harsh?

I had a bad fall that I needed stitches and I thought I should just give up but seeing this was all I needed and now I listen to this every day when I ride
I used to go to a riding horse and got attached to one problematic lesson horse. People used rough bits with him, long spurs, he refused all the time. In February we found out that his owner put him up for sale and we bought him. I was told that don’t buy him. You won’t get anywhere. I didn’t listen to them and bought him. In the first 2 months my coach told me that it’s a completely different horse. He always got people disqualified when competing and now, we are jumping and competing with no problems, he rarely acts up, jumped our record on first attempt. If you believe in yourself, you CAN do it!
This makes me emotional. I fell off 3 weeks ago and broke my ankle and I want to get back on so badly. But I have to fight and heal through this first.
I was once riding on the road and my horse bolted and fell and cut herself badly I felt like giving up.. but I remember that ‘this is my purpose’ 3 years later still riding her happily
I got bullied a lot by people and I was trying so hard to not give up but I would tell my self keep going beacause horse riding is everything and nobody can stop you or me you didn’t come all this way to give up keep going haters can back off
When I was a kid, I was fascinated by horses. Any time I would see them, whether it was out the car window, at the fair, my friends houses, birthday party's, family friends houses, family gathering, etc. I would say "Mom look! Horses" . I would be the kid in kindergarten drawing horses, rather than unicorns. I would be the kid who sits alone at recess, staring off into space, or looking at the horses across the road. I would be the one who would ask the whole entire friend group, "Can we play horses" or "Let's go watch those horses". I would be the one who would sit by pastures and watch the horses graze, rather than running around like a normal kid. I was the "unusual" one, the "strange" one, the "boring" one. I am now the one who will say "horses" every time I see them. I'm the one who sits out of the conversations about boys, just to look at pictures of my horse. I'm the one who will talk about horses non-stop, no matter how annoyed other people get. And just to think it all started with the pony ride when I was 2. I started riding at the age of 6, showing at 7. I can still remember every single feature of my first lesson pony. She passed last February, two days after Valentines Day, around 4 PM. Cause: Brain Tumor. Death: Put Down. I remember our first day together, our first hello, all the way to our final day together, and our final goodbye. Horses leave marks in our heart, they are placed in our hearts and never leave. They are special and there is no doubting that. I took my first horrible spill on that pony. Nearly had my head crushed from her bucking (My saddle tipped and I fell, she bucked and nearly landed on my head). I got right back on. I knew it was my fault, not hers. I am now happy with my mare. And Ducky, I hope you know, that brain tumor never actually took you from me, it just took you to heaven, out of my reach. But never out of my heart, mind, and love. You're a special pony Ducky, and I will NEVER forget the first time you stepped on me, left a scar on my pinky toe in the shape of your blaze. Almost as if it was a sign from God that you were going to be my forever.
I wish I could say I did, sometimes I live a lie. I tell my friends that I am a good rider, they believe it... it’s kinda true but I haven’t gone through half as much crap as most people, because sometimes I do give up, because it’s sooo hard to get back in the saddle but once you do it feels like home again. So I’m gonna confess to my friends that I’m not half as much they think I am. I haven’t ridden a rear, not even a tiny one, I can’t barely sit a buck I fall off... I sometimes want to take the hard road alone. Just be alone. But I could never be alone with my horse in my heart ❤️
I’m late to the party on this one, but damn I love this! This brought tears to my eyes! My horse Sissy and I have been through some rough patches, but we have always made it through, and we will continue to push through our challenges. We even are going to enter our first show together soon, which is a massive achievement! Sissy isn’t the best horse, I rescued her from a owner that was neglecting her. Almost 3 years into being together, we have made massive progress. She went from being abused to being a amazing horse that pretty much everyone can ride without a problem, and she is super sweet and loving! She is the love of my life and I thank God for giving her to me everyday, because everyday is amazing!

Thank you for making this video, recently a lot of stuff is weighing down on me and other equestrians at my barn really don't make it any easier. It's so easy to just give up and forget but why should I? When you've come all this way with your best friend of 10 years through thick and thin, just for someone to think they can stop you by being petty and not understanding your situation. Don't let anyone stop you from being happy, years my horse has given me, he's carried me on his back. He's getting old now and I just want a nice relaxing place to keep him at for the rest of his life, safe and happy. I will not give in and I certainly will not give up. I love him so much and I appreciate everything he's done for me as a person. He deserves the world and yet all I can give him is love a safe place to live. Why can the equestrian world be so harsh?

I used to go to a riding horse and got attached to one problematic lesson horse. People used rough bits with him, long spurs, he refused all the time. In February we found out that his owner put him up for sale and we bought him. I was told that don’t buy him. You won’t get anywhere. I didn’t listen to them and bought him. In the first 2 months my coach told me that it’s a completely different horse. He always got people disqualified when competing and now, we are jumping and competing with no problems, he rarely acts up, jumped our record on first attempt. If you believe in yourself, you CAN do it!

I got bullied a lot by people and I was trying so hard to not give up but I would tell my self keep going beacause horse riding is everything and nobody can stop you or me you didn’t come all this way to give up keep going haters can back off

When I was a kid, I was fascinated by horses. Any time I would see them, whether it was out the car window, at the fair, my friends houses, birthday party's, family friends houses, family gathering, etc. I would say "Mom look! Horses" . I would be the kid in kindergarten drawing horses, rather than unicorns. I would be the kid who sits alone at recess, staring off into space, or looking at the horses across the road. I would be the one who would ask the whole entire friend group, "Can we play horses" or "Let's go watch those horses". I would be the one who would sit by pastures and watch the horses graze, rather than running around like a normal kid. I was the "unusual" one, the "strange" one, the "boring" one. I am now the one who will say "horses" every time I see them. I'm the one who sits out of the conversations about boys, just to look at pictures of my horse. I'm the one who will talk about horses non-stop, no matter how annoyed other people get. And just to think it all started with the pony ride when I was 2.
I started riding at the age of 6, showing at 7. I can still remember every single feature of my first lesson pony. She passed last February, two days after Valentines Day, around 4 PM. Cause: Brain Tumor. Death: Put Down. I remember our first day together, our first hello, all the way to our final day together, and our final goodbye. Horses leave marks in our heart, they are placed in our hearts and never leave. They are special and there is no doubting that. I took my first horrible spill on that pony. Nearly had my head crushed from her bucking (My saddle tipped and I fell, she bucked and nearly landed on my head). I got right back on. I knew it was my fault, not hers. I am now happy with my mare. And Ducky, I hope you know, that brain tumor never actually took you from me, it just took you to heaven, out of my reach. But never out of my heart, mind, and love. You're a special pony Ducky, and I will NEVER forget the first time you stepped on me, left a scar on my pinky toe in the shape of your blaze. Almost as if it was a sign from God that you were going to be my forever.
This stopped me from quitting thank you 🙏 so much

I wish I could say I did, sometimes I live a lie. I tell my friends that I am a good rider, they believe it... it’s kinda true but I haven’t gone through half as much crap as most people, because sometimes I do give up, because it’s sooo hard to get back in the saddle but once you do it feels like home again. So I’m gonna confess to my friends that I’m not half as much they think I am. I haven’t ridden a rear, not even a tiny one, I can’t barely sit a buck I fall off... I sometimes want to take the hard road alone. Just be alone. But I could never be alone with my horse in my heart ❤️
I’m late to the party on this one, but damn I love this! This brought tears to my eyes! My horse Sissy and I have been through some rough patches, but we have always made it through, and we will continue to push through our challenges. We even are going to enter our first show together soon, which is a massive achievement! Sissy isn’t the best horse, I rescued her from a owner that was neglecting her. Almost 3 years into being together, we have made massive progress. She went from being abused to being a amazing horse that pretty much everyone can ride without a problem, and she is super sweet and loving! She is the love of my life and I thank God for giving her to me everyday, because everyday is amazing!
