just replaced mine on my mk7. pretty much in the same location. was able to shimmy in there by moving that lower coolant hose out of the way instead of taking out the charge pipe. great video regardless. shows the proper way to get in there instead of being in a rush like i was. thanks!
Ty for the help, only video on TH-cam going over this. I used a drill bit like you, a small piece of the plastic fell into the hole/block. Hopefully I'm ok.
Great video!!! Im getting an EPC warning light intermittently with extended cranking before the engine starts on 2010 Tiguan. Reading a 322 code and so will try changing the sensor.
Very well could be, also should make sure your valve timing is fine because they are known for timing tension issues. I have many videos on this engine and it’s problems.
Hey ! Thank you for all the videos , you’re a life saver ! I got one casing stuck as well ! Do happen to know what size bit you used ? I don’t wanna damage the block
Thank you for the comment really appreciated! I don’t know which I used but just find one big enough to grab the inside of the broken sensor and turn it by hand not to damage the casting.
Great videos! I have a 2016 q3 CCTA engine it cranks but won’t start. I saw your video on stock tensioner. Do you know if Audi/VW made any changes to the 2016 CCTA version? And is there away to test the crankshaft sensor without having to replace it? I appreciate any help you can provide
Your particular car should have the updated version of the tensioner so you should be fine. Crankshaft sensors on these cars rarely goes but you’ll need a scope or high end scan tool to read signal unfortunately.
My charge pipe had a little oil leak out when i pulled it. But currently im trying to figure out why my engine doesn't turn off when i press the strt/stop button and the dash constantly displays "ignition on" even after i hook the battery back up.
Hi. 2016 Audi A6 2.0 TDI Ultra (C7 model) owner here, engine CNHA. Code P0322 Engine Speed Sensor G28 ( Crankshaft Sensor) I can’t find any diagram or video where mine could be located. Have you worked on any?
Hey brother! As always, great video! Could this sensor also cause a P000A and P0016? My 2010 CC runs and drives great but I have a check engine light with those two codes I listed. I know someone in a different video of yours mentioned that it could also be caused by a short in the wiring. What would you recommend?
@@Motorcarnut the timing chain tensioner I installed and put the revised version. The control oil valve seemed clean and wasn’t poking out (like the one you mentioned on one of your videos). This really has me beat! I’m just glad the car is running well but these codes make me feel like the car is a liability right now.
Have a 2016 Golf 1.8 TSI that giving me error code for this sensor. Is the location the same for my engine? I also saw your vvt check which I will.also check
@@Motorcarnut where is it located the knock sensor ? Is it the same as the crankshaft sensor because i have to crank for like 40 seconds each time for 3-4 times

Good evening I recently had to take my car to Volkswagen dealership and get a diagnostic because the car wouldn't start. At first we thought it was the battery or the starter or the alternator. She would turn and she would try but there would be no ignition. Took her to the Volkswagen dealership and they did a diagnostic and say it's the crankshaft sensor and they would repair it for 750. Hopefully im not getting ripped off & she gets fixed tomorrow. Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated. My car is a 2013 VW CC 120,000 Miles.
Even thought it’s a vw dealership hopefully the technician know these cars. The crankshaft sensor( which I have a video on how to change it yourself) rarely goes bad and just because it has that code could be the timing chain tensioner that is causing your problem or timing chain already jumped. $700 for half hour work and $50.00 part seems steep to me. Hopefully I’m wrong and it could just be that sensor but even the video I made about changing it, it wasn’t bad, I made the video to show how to do it. If you are handy it’s takes about half and hour and $50.00 for the sensor.
@@Motorcarnut Yeah that's what I thought. Pretty steep in my opinion. Seems like labor should be $3-400 not $700…. I'll see what I can do. They overnighted the part from Texas becaus they said they had none here in FL OEM. Plus, I have to change my water pump which was covered by recall until 100k miles but my car is 120k. So it's a bit weird what's going on. Trying to make the best choice possible with the knowledge I have.
Did you ever get the new one installed to see if it fixed the issue? I'm replacing mine now after replacing the camshaft sensor didn't fix it, so I'm reeaally hoping this one solves it..
Hai there, just wondering if the code P072600 is the crankshaft senaor are going bad cause when engine ia hot the gear stuck in Reverse and the code appear in the TCU dtc..it's VW Passat 280 TSI yeae 2017..dsg gearbox..also have P072B00 as well
Usually there will be a code associated with this. I have no idea what is wrong with your car from your comment. Don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction
Hey! I got recommended that my crankshaft sensor is faulty. My VW Beetle 2012 with this same 2.0 TSI engine fails on me on occasions when powering up. So, after I drive to university, I turn it off, take some clases 1-2 hours, and then go to power up and it works just fine. However, when i go to a fast food or a mall, for 15-20 minutes and come back to turn it on, it won’t start. It powers up but immediately shuts off. I was first told it could the immobilizer, but no immobilizer light or warning comes up, and it’s on rare occasions. Do you think I have a faulty sensor?

Yes

Could be gas bad gas, bad knock sensor or the wiring to and from it.
@@Motorcarnut where is it located the knock sensor ? Is it the same as the crankshaft sensor because i have to crank for like 40 seconds each time for 3-4 times
@ilay975 that’s not a crank or knock sensor issue. Long crank time is related to the oil control valve timing on these VW’s

Is it possible for this to leak coolant? Im either leaking from this or the black cover to the left. Is this possible?
No, it's probably the water pump to block seal. They are known to leak in that area.

Plug and play
Same on the golf mk6 gti? Right?

Yes, but you probably have a vacuum leak or a timing problem.
Will this make your epc light turn on
It could especially if there is a code for it.

You have to do a scan of all the codes then clear them. Drive the car around and see what codes come back, then post them here.
