I know a lot of people praise Group B but to me mid 70s to very early 80s is my favorite Rally's, cars and drivers. Its such a thrill when you upload a video from that era ( I was a teenager then ). Thank You !!!
That was different rallying then. Drivers were pulling the most they could from tuned mass production cars, unlike the WRC and post-WRC era of prototypes.
The editor was completely gassed! Great line-up of drivers and cars. The Kerry roads and countryside look superb. I can't help wondering how much it cost to buy and prepare a 911 for rallying then. I've never seen so many lining up for The Circuit
As far as I know the engines and transmission on those cars was standard. Only body and suspension were reinforced plus skidplates, so the cost of preparation after buying a car was low. Unlike with cheaper cars were close to every part had to be modified or replaced.
This is great, thanks again for sharing. Have to say though that it’s one of the weirdest sports/feature edits I’ve ever seen. I kind of want to see the boxing one too just to see if they’re consistently strange!🤣
Back when the Circuit was an actual circuit. I couldn't even tell you a thing about Irish rallying today or rallying at all hardly. Other than it just seems so formulaic and uninteresting. Not a speck of romance or fun to it just corporate and dull. Sure it's faster but like all motorsport now just too far away from reality. I think I said it in another video nice to see the Avenger and Firenza. Also an Imp in there too. With an Elan on timekeeping. Bring back homologation and no pace notes i.e. blind rallies - you drive the road in front of you as Jimmy McRae stated.

We went every year, it was great to get down to Kerry away from the trouble in our own country!

Nice one watch it later thank you 😃
Great find as usual 👍👍
Fabulous. Is this the one where Ari Vatanen went off backwards in his Escort? What a dent he did on his boot! Right up to his back window.
That co drivers glasses are a bit worrying....!😂
I see the Motoring News is asleep on the job again. Verglas.
Per-inge is Petter Solbergs Father in law I do believe
