Man, early 2000's was a very good time for lego themes. Castle, Power Miners, Space Police, Mars Mission, Agents, Pirates, Hero Factory, some epic sets from all of these! I just wish we could get these exact themes again. And none of these things where it's a semi-continuation or reboot like Ultra Agents or Kingdom, but just a legit continuation of these lines: same styles and designs, just new sets

I feel like this theme is one of the best castle themes. On one end of the scale you have lego kingdoms with very grounded settings and plot points. Basically just 2 rival kingdoms with 1 as good guys and 1 as bad guys. Then on the other end you have nexo knights with space vampires and hologram wizards and sword tanks that transform into sword fighter jets. I feel like most castle themes land somewhere close to kingdoms with the most you could hope for is maybe a dragon or wizard or something. This theme is a nice middle ground with dwarves and skeletons and ogres. I wish we got a modern theme around this level of fantasticalism with a more modern lego plot structure. Maybe something like elves except not as friendsified.
Is it just brown bricks that have this issue? The other day I lost two brown flat 2*6 when trying to pull a old set apart, they got destroyed by that tool that lego gives you to help. Never had the issue with any other colour.
In comparison to the previous one from the dwarves mine? This one is far more superior. It has black armor and printing on the helmet, torso, waist, and arms.
I miss this kind of theme from lego. Hopefully lego will start bringing smaller sets back for Adventures, castles , pirates , etc.

Why are those old brown pieces so brittle? I’ve had this problem on some old pieces I found in my storage recently. Is heat a factor?
Heat and humidity are the largest factors, but with brown it was a color dye issue that became brittle over the years.

They were, but Lego said the problem was fixed back in 2017 so time will tell.

I had issues with brown, dark brown, dark red, and on some occasions dark blue. Sunlight and humidity also affects pieces.
